      @klear19634 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Luke J. / Nexus different niche markets. restaurants that are upscale have been doing so for years. its standard and they have competitors that are in the same ball park. tiles arent that. most people who buy tiles get them with a price per bulk at a dealer or warehouse. they dont have a reason to not list their prices since its not a standard practice in their market. most people who buy tiles know this and will choose not to buy their tiles because their competitors r being logical and listing their prices or listing a reason why to contact them furthur on a price. saying that theyre "handmade amd original" can only go so far if ur competitors r saying the same thing but with better business to consumer relations

    • @vs94s1

      well you can't print the glaze on there in the same way and the pattern they put on it is just like sketch lines an artist uses, or a reference model a sculptor uses, you still have to handpaint the glaze to make the actual design.

      It’s a bit more complicated than that. “Handmade” does not mean that no precision technology is used, it just means that the product was made on a small-scale and that human craftsmanship was heavily involved. I would consider the construction I do handmade because even though I need a Brad-nailer to install and a chop-saw to cut the baseboards, I measure, cut, place, install, paint, and caulk them myself. I didn’t need a machine to do that for me.
      It’s the same deal here. Even though they’re using a template to silk-screen, they’re painting them by hand. They also designed the templates themselves. The only machine-work here is done by the printer that made the original template. After that, the silk-screening, a method of printing, was done by hand.
      I think you’re under a bit of a misconception that anything handmade has to be made low-tech in your mama’s garage and has to show visible imperfections.
      Imperfections are a byproduct of handmade items, not the goal.

    I'm a master ceramic tile artist that creates handmade mosaic tiles @ www.tileswithstyle.com. I've been doing this full-time since 1999. Occasionally, I get people contacting me, looking for handmade square tiles; with custom designs painted on the tiles, or just someone to paint a custom design onto a pre-made or manufactured tile.
    If you do custom work, or know of someone that does custom painting onto base tiles, please post a link. I'll put one off of my website to that person.

      It’s not paint, it’s glaze. Glaze is partially made of clay as well as various minerals and chemicals to make it turn a certain colour when fired. Glaze also gives clay its shine.
      There are three types of ceramic wares. Green-ware is raw clay, bisque-ware is clay that has been fired without glaze, though it may have an underglaze with does not have sand (glass) in it, and glaze-ware is clay that has been fired with a glaze to give it a glass coating.
      If you were to fire a ceramic item with paint on it, the paint would simply burn off, leaving the clay its original colour. I tried mixing ink with slip (liquid clay) once, burned clean off during the bisque-firing process.
