I know things are incredibly busy with the renovation process, but at some point in the future, you should really consider starting a Le Fleur decor line. Many people would pay good money for your gorgeous designs! xx

Once the chateau is finished, you could design tiles, dinnerware, pottery, t-shirts, dresses, shsos, boxes, wrapping paper, perfume bottles, etc Unlimited dideas. The dinnerware would have a pic of your charteau w. name with blue and white design (flower?) around the rim. Love the tiles you designed. The one on the right (your left) looks like a face. Brilliant! You are so creative!

Anna could make a stamp like her wall paper of the chateau and make tiles that way.....people will buy them 100%.

Beautiful, Anna! The original tile is darker for a few potential reasons: 1. the cobalt was less pure at that time (maybe even intentionally), 2. they were wood fired and an oxygen deprived atmosphere (reduction) often results in different or darker colors, 3. or maybe the cobalt was simply thicker, these oxides tend to settle out. Happy they turned out well for you on the first go. With ceramics/pottery there's a lot of room for error.

Anna, you really should restore those stables on your estate into an Arts studio. Your painting skill is exquisite. I have no doubt people would come from all over the world to attend your workshops. And for bonus, be able to book a room in your beautiful chateau. Fantastic work on those tiles, you've inspired me!

Artist residencies are a thing! If you had a flexible space, you could potentially rent the space and your guest rooms to guest teachers, who would bring their own students. The trick would be identifying which arts you could cater for without having to dedicate a lot of resources to the set up.

It’s so very satisfying to be able to watch an artist’s dream become a reality and I commend you for successfully venturing forward with a medium with which you were unfamiliar. So looking forward to seeing them in place. Bravissima!

You can ask every guest who stays whether they’d like to paint a tile. Every once in a while get them fired in the kiln and display them on a wall somewhere (or use them as coasters). It would be a cool way to keep memories and have everyone leave a little piece of themself in the chateau

When I create art pieces, in an medium, I do the original and use the same transfer method the teacher showed you, which can be tedious. You are so lucky you can do free hand over and over again, because that is difficult. Your hard work paid off. 😊

As someone with years doing ceramics I can't compliment you enough! Lovely brushwork and design, so beautiful and unique! It makes the world of a difference putting your own artistic mark on such an important project, and although cermics takes time, it's such a mindful process and literally thousands of years old; and buying handpainted tiles like this would have been very expensive and not as beautiful as this.
Aw I feel all fuzzy inside seeing the result, bravo Anna! ❤️

I love how you have put so much of yourselves into the château. Maybe, 100 years from now, someone will be standing in your kitchen, and will point out the tiles you made, and will especially linger on the one you dated and initialed, marveling how your work is as beautiful then as it is now. It’s lovely how art lives on like that.

Anna you continue to amaze me with your art talent!!!!! This is by far my favorite of your creations. I thought your wallpaper was wonderful, especially in your “girlies” room. Then your guest powder room, now these tiles. You have such patience and unreal work ethic. Congratulations and be so proud of all you have accomplished. From a retired art instructor.

  • @sadielou1808
    @sadielou1808 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

So perfect! Thanks so much for this video! Every question I had about your tile making process answered! Yes, the color always changes after firing bc the minerals react to the heat. I’ve glazed with a beige solution that comes out green or red solution that comes out black when the mineral molecules bond and make new compounds. That will be a challenge when you do your mural, envisioning the end product, not what you’re painting. There’s a whole chemistry to it. I just do what my instructor tells me. Agree the uniqueness of each tile gives a hand crafted look. Each one is a work of art. Bravo, Anna, for your talent and your persistence.

Oh, Anna, I am a ceramic artist in Loveland, CO, USA. Your tile project brought tears to my eyes. I have made tiles, glazed them and put them on a buffet top and with a nod to my Irish roots, I put a Celtic knot in the middle. I am planning on making tiles for my bathroom remodel, but that will probably take a couple of years to make the number that I need before starting the remodel. So looking forward to seeing your tiles installed.

Beautiful - they remind me of some dishes I have that are at least 150 years old, cobalt blue with some touches of a rust/orange. The colours go really nicely together - so maybe Phillip can get his orange into the kitchen with a few terra-cotta pieces holding spoons & spatulas, plants etc. Really makes me want to go find a pottery where I can play like this...

We are renovating OUR kitchen and everything we ordered is arriving out of order. - the cabinets, the new kitchen window, the stove vent, the refrigerator and dish washer...
The thing we need NOW is the counter tops, but they won't arrive for two weeks. The thing we need last - the kitchen tiles - have arrived FIRST and are sitting, waiting in our barn.
Why can't these things be SIMPLE?!

Wow wow wow, Anna you’re remarkable. I love seeing you bring your creative visions to life. On that note the talents each of you have, make your Chanel one of my favourites to watch because it’s also filmed and produced so cleverly and enchantingly by your beloved husband (who lives on despite the chanel subtitle…😊). I think you two could film the installation and unfurling of a toilet roll and it’s holder and we’d still all be glued to the screen! Thanks for the inspiration and entertainment.

I have been learning French in my spare time, and it is very fun to slowly start understanding pieces of the spoken language instead of having to rely on subtitles alone! It is beautiful to see the sheer dedication and love y'all are putting into this renovation. Your channel has giving me huge interest in France and all the things about it! I am from Texas, so it is very different, and I hope to one day get to see the beauty in person!

I, as a ceramic artist who specialized in glaze formulation in school, couldn't help but get a chuckle out of Philip's "you don't know how it's going to turn out." comment. It's true that a lot of things can change how a glaze will turn out after the firing process, but there's a big difference between glazes that are unpredictable and the very stable, consistent glazes that will very nearly always give you an expected outcome. The glazes being used by Anna and David were a White Enamel/Liner glaze and a transparent Cobalt Blue glaze. Every iteration of those types of glazes are pretty much the most stable and predictable you can possibly get, especially when firing in a modern electric kiln.

Great choice Anna, that's definitely what an artist does (and should do!!) Making your own tiles was the correct move .
