    You did an amazing job on this kit! I'm on my 2nd or 3rd time watching your build walk through videos on the Arizona right now. I have the kit and just about everything you had for her plus a little more. I have her set up and ready to start, just going through your build videos to get a plan setup for the build! Thanks so much for posting them, as they will be a big help in the build up! Keep up the great work, buddy! Look forward to seeing more!

    The front section that you are trying to figure out the name of, (@ 2:36 into the video) is the armored conning tower.

    That tee-shaped device on the first deck you show is the ship's compass (I'm pretty sure). Missed opportunity to add a little color (that no one will see).

      correct

      T Shape device is called the "Binnacle". Houses a magnetic compass. The two outer balls are iron balls used to correct for "deviation". Commonly the port ball is painted red, starboard is painted green. Not sure whether they were painted that way in wartime configuration.

    I've watched all the videos in this build! Wonder if someone makes the USS New Jersey in that scale.

    • @TheMidwestModelShop
      @TheMidwestModelShop  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They make the Missouri and Iowa. So the best you could do is customize one of them to match the New Jersey. If you check it out, I've started the Missouri build already!

      I'll look into doing that thanks.

    Above navigation tower just aft 2nd gun turrent is the radar klystron microwave tubes. The boxes stores extra tubes. I am a retired microwave tube tester from Varian of 47 years. The tube for that radar same for most is VA811C and VA889F. I got to see the Utah and Missouri. No longer classified can tell you but heard it still a restricted area. Along with that are the new phanax repeating gun has a round white dome shoots 3000 rounds per minute. That is Varian Vku7785e1 microwave klystron tube. Was a tester and a lot more radar. Love to tell you more. Google the tube types and you will see. The company now communication and industries formally Varian associates.

      Levin Neighbors it is Model Master Navy Blue USN. In my first video in the series I show the exact bottle that I used.

    How much longer do you estimate the Arizona will take ?

    • @TheMidwestModelShop
      @TheMidwestModelShop  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well... in terms of "hours" probably not too many. Maybe 25? The issue is having those 25 hours available all at once ; )

      The Midwest Model Shop awesome any more ships in the near future?

    • @TheMidwestModelShop
      @TheMidwestModelShop  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, the plan after this build is to finish my Albatros DV by Wingnut Wings. That is the build that actually got my into making videos. But that build will finish up quickly. Then yes, another ship. But I am not sure which one yet.

      The Midwest Model Shop this is some excellent work. I’m building the Arizona with the MK1 detail set. if you want a challenge, try the 1/200 Missouri with the Pontos detail set
