I just minutes ago installed this same 256174 headgear on my Digital Elite. The stock headgear was almost identical to the one in the Hobart hood in the video. The original was total trash. It broke and cracked several times and I limped it by with electrical tape in order to keep working. The new one showed up today and because it's going on a Miller hood, I didn't need to modify anything. All that said, I can immediately tell it is much better. More adjustability, more comfortable, and I can tell it's going to stay in my head when I'm bent up in a weird position. I paid $27 shipped and I can already tell it is well worth it for the hassle it's going to save me while working.
Been awhile since I modified the headgear, and I can say it was well worth it, it's good but I have yet to find the perfect headgear, and I'm not even a PRO! One day I'm hoping someone makes a better one.
I enjoyed your video very much and found it highly informative. I like the new features of the updated 256174 enough to go order one now. The little teeth on the band where the ratchet knob tightens are warped all to hell. Of course they don't sell the 2 toothed straps-- that would make too much sense (and not enough dollars)
I had the same problem. I went to Air Liquide and got a new headset for my helmet said cost extra $30 to install it. Tried to install it myself, can't do it. Now I need time to cool off. I agree with the stupid knob pieces.
My hlmet bent on one side does anyone know best way to make it straight again atlese close to what it was please give me advise ive searched th web. Theres none that showhow. Thanks
