    Great vid! I've been practicing mig welding with a Lincoln weld-pak 140HD and have a hard time seeing the puddle even when it's turned all the way down. Do you think the added light would make a huge difference?

    • @ACDesignsGarage
      @ACDesignsGarage  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah that extra light makes a big difference, try it both ways you'll be amazed

    • @ACDesignsGarage
      @ACDesignsGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No problem, When I weld Mig My settings are usually 10 to 11 on the shade, as for sensitivity I turn it all the way up then look up at my lights in my shop and if it goes dark I keep turning it down till the lights wont activate the sheild. One thing to also look at ,and I've done it my self is Make sure your sheild is not in Grind mode because it will make your eyes burn. Hope this helps Merry CHRISTmas!!!!

      & there are some people say it's best for your eyes to be "as dark as possible but against what you can still see" but then there are some good weldors out there who agree with each other that it's less strain on your eyes when you can see the clearest without straining them.

    I'm new to welding. I bought the Yeswelder $50 model with the shade control on the outside of the helmet. On flux core I cant see my work piece enough to run my bead ,say on the seam at "min recommend shade 10?). I think 9 might work but I don't want to hurt my eyes. I'm testing with work lights. My led bench light doesn't seem to help. I was going to try a halogen to see if was any better. Any thoughts or suggestions? I think I could weld better if I could see where I'm going...lol.

    • @ACDesignsGarage

      It can be tough, I will say if you have alot of back light comming in from behind your sheild it .makes it hard to see. I put a tshirt over the back of the helmet sometimes to help with that. I'll drop my latest videos that has a ton of tip on seeing better that I just made watch it and if these don't help maybe we'll try something different. I'll put the link below!!!

      @@ACDesignsGarage It's funny, just as you replied I notice the reflection coming off my inside lens coming from the backlighting you mentioned. Seems like problem solved. I attached a towel across the back of my hood to block out the back light reflecting off my inside lens. Now I can run shade 10-11 no problem. Thanks for the good advice.

    I like all my Harbor Freight tools and equipment as much as the next guy but I’m not sure of the safety of their welding helmets. I might just stick with Speedglas, Miller or Viking.

    Hi, do all the different shade settings provide the same UV protection or does it lessen with the Din setting? Thank you

    • @ACDesignsGarage
      @ACDesignsGarage  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I'm thinking it's the same through the settings it's just the darkness of the shade that changes.

    I cannot see well no matter the settings. I tried them all. So, bought another helmet that was favorably reviewed. It worked slightly better, but, again, could not see, no matter the settings. The sensitivity and delay work fine. It just seems like the shade does not do much. I wish I had a friend with a fancy $300 helmet so I could try it.
    I can see the weld puddle a little, so weld from what I "think" I should be doing. Yes, I am older now. When I was younger, I used a $10,000 Miller TIG and it was very easy. My original helmet that really did not work well at all was a clone of your Harbor Freight one, same settings and test button.

      There tuff to see sometimes, another tip you can try is get a super bright flood light and light up your work space, it really helps!!!!

    • @joshua43214
      @joshua43214 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Get your eyes checked for cataracts. I have had both eyes done, it is not a big deal these days.
      In the mean time, use bright flood lighting.
