    Thank you so much. I am so glad it isn't just me. I was was using A - 2 for the 3/16 but the idea of using C for "always" and only shifting between 2 or 4 is brilliant. Thanks for posting :)

      You’re welcome Jade! I didn’t know about eyelet washers before either because for example, I used to buy my eyelets from Michaels (which don’t come with washers). The eyelets that I purchase from Aliexpress come with washers. I’m kinda glad that we can get eyelets from Aliexpress because coloured and shaped eyelets can’t be found easily or at all at local craft shops. Here’s just an example of the small eyelets that I get. I have to admit that the size is a hit or miss as some shops measure them differently but from this particular shop I got the 3mm size:

    I’m amazed that there is all that information on the tool. I don’t know why there aren’t more instructions on a lot of craft tools so we don’t have to rely on others to tell us. Thanks for taking time to explain. It begs the question though, what are the other setting knobbly bits for that you didn’t show? I’ll have to experiment.

    • @CutesyShelf
      @CutesyShelf  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is so true about there being a lack of info for a lot of tools. One of the best examples is the Silhouette machine. I always read the instructions because they are supposed to be useful. However all they explain really is how to turn it on and off, how to place your mat, etc. The software has a ton of settings and basically no information on what they do really. It's up to us to fiddle around with it and hope that there is maybe a video out there showing how to use it. For this Crop-A-Dile, had the person writing up the instructions given us the correct settings, we would have a much smoother experience with the tool. Luckily my mom is a seamstress and she'd used to get me to make buttons and stuff so some things look familiar and I was able to figure it out. I learned early on with crafting tools that you have to experiment on your own. It actually goes for a lot of other tools such as the Fuse Tool and Minc machine...I don't think the manufacturers are experts either because there's a lot of info lacking in their own videos about the tools. For this tool I only use it to punch eyelets but I bet the other settings can probably punch caps and such.

      Thank you very much Jenni for your kind words, I appreciate it! Eyelets are very hard to find locally...even at big craft stores like Michaels. They never have any coloured ones, just ones with metal finishes and only 3 to choose from. They carry the Recollections brand. In the past few years I’ve been getting them from AliExpress. For the small eyelets, I purchased the 3mm size from this listing and they include washers (although for the small size I have not been successfully at using washers with them. • @CutesyShelf
      @CutesyShelf  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Gabby! You don’t need to be using the best, it just has to be the right size for this particular tool. For example, some of the small ones are from Michaels. And the rest are from AliExpress as Michaels doesn’t carry coloured eyelets. Once I purchased the bigger eyelets and they were slightly larger and those always came out with a smashed look. If you purchase on AliExpress, I could try to find you the links of the ones that I got.

      Hi! I find that eyelets sold locally at stores such as Michaels don’t come with washers. However, the ones that I purchase from Aliexpress do come with washers. The washers fit nicely on the large eyelets. The small washers never really stay on the small eyelets for some reason but aren’t really necessary. Here is a link for the large eyelets:

    I don't know if the problem is me or not. I have asked enough people. But is the point being missed here? Which is the crop a dile is a nonsense because it does not give you a smooth surface on the eyelet's back side as it should. You have seen eyelets on professional items, they're pretty smooth right? Question, How the hec are you going to punch an eyelet into a bookmark without it tearing up the pages of the book?j

      That is so true! I was quite disappointed when I got mine and followed the instructions and all. The result was terrible. But I know that with some of my other craft tools, like the Fuse and Minc foiling machine, you can't always listen to what they say and have to play around with it. By doing so with this, I got a better result than what they tell us in the instructions. In their instructions, they got 1 out of 4 right though.

      Hi Judy! Could it be that you’re using the wrong sized eyelets? I tried using a slightly bigger eyelet because I purchased the wrong size once and they always came out looking smashed.
