I Love Hoyas! I got my first hoya 21 years ago for $0.99. The place I got it at, had it on clearance with no name tag. It was nothing more than two sticks in a pot with one leaf on each stick that were almost dead. So I had no idea what it was, until I started to get new growth and researched it. I found out it was a Krimson Queen, just like yours. I still have it, and it is doing awesome and has given me blooms too. It was this hoya that sparked my passion for them. I now have 10 different types of Hoyas. When I find one I don't have for a good price, I snap it up. Thank you for the awesome video and for sharing your Hoyas with us. 🌸
that's amazing you were able to revive it and still have it all these years later! 10 hoya seems like a very manageable amount. glad you love them too! 🤗
I don't like them. To me most of the leaves look like they're from average trees, cheap variegated plants from the garden section or something a grandma would have.
I don’t understand how anyone can be a hoya hater. There are so many different kinds and they are easy to care for! Great selection and variety showed today 😊
To help prevent your bud blasting, try adding a little CalMag at every watering. Calcium is vital for areas of new growth. Because in nature, Hoyas grow on trees, whenever it rains, some calcium leeching out from the tree bark washes onto the Hoyas. Mimicking nature where we can is the secret. I learned this from Rick L’s orchid channel which he does for his orchids. Like Hoyas, orchids grow on trees. Because I use the orchid fertilized water or just CalMag in water on my Hoyas, I realized I haven’t gotten any bud blasting since I started doing this. Rick really knows how plants use minerals!😲. Calcium will also prevent the tips of leaves from dying.
I bought the Hoya Ann, I love her veining! I also got the Hoya caudata silver, which I love, love! The undulating edges and the splash. Thank you for showing these. I also purchased 7 more but haven’t received them yet! Thank you so much🌱💚
Hey ❤ found your channel due to my love for Hoyas 🤣 I was gonna tell you that the difference that I have found between lacunosa and khroniana is that lacunosa is a longer slender leaf and khroniana is more of a spade shape. Not trying to be a know it all but I believe your second plant is most likely a khroniana Eskimo. Which is still an amazingly beautiful plant. You’ve done really well keeping them beautiful ❤
I am waaay too deep down the Hoya rabbit hole. My interest started when I purchased a few Hoya cuttings for my daughter and rooted them to give to her as part of her Christmas gifts. I got her a Argentea Princess, Wilbur Graves, Nova Ghost and Caudata Sumatra. I love the veiny or textured Hoyas and would enjoy that video!
that's so sweet and very generous of you to buy your daughter hoyas! those were some good picks too. very tempted to make that veiny hoya video so maybe one day! thanks for watching 💚
My krimson queen is a beast. She grows non stop all year. She used to be in a hanging planter, but is so heavy now that I cannot trust putting it up anymore lol. Definitely a plant I recommend that is easy going and a fast grower. Out of all my Hoyas, she needs the least attention, but gives the most.
I think hoya haters just don’t have much experience on how to grow them, they probably do the taco test or ignore them until its wrinkly so the plant is never fully happy. At the same time many find the tendrils difficult. After I got my first hoya, I was alright about it but when it grew leaves in my care, it was much more healthy leaves and so waxy n pretty and now most of collection is hoya❤️
What is your secret for blooms? I live in Seattle and put mine out for the summer and in the winter they're under grow lights, but I've never had flowers. I have about twenty different species and allow them to dry out before watering and keep them pot-bound.
I was not into hoyas because to me, they all looked too similar and uninteresting. But then I got a small Hoya australis ´Lisa´, which really took off this year and is getting ready to bloom... and I´m utterly in love with her. One of the most beautiful plants ever :-) So I got also several variegated hoyas (heuschkeliana, wayeti, burtoniae aff.) and I´m getting much more into hoyas now :-) You inspired me to search for a variegated polyneura, which is stunning too. There certainly is a suitable hoya for everyone´s taste 🙂
I got into houseplants late in life, after my husband passed away 10 years ago. I didn't understand what the fuss was about with Hoya and had no interest in them. Now I have several varieties and love them. My favorite is the Retusa which is probably weird but I find them so cute! I've never had a hoya bloom and I don't know what I'm doing wrong but for now I'm just enjoying them as is.
I'm so sorry to hear about your husband but I'm glad that you found houseplants. I love the retusa, it's such a fun hoya! and blooms typically come with age and the right growing conditions, along with patience.
Hi, I loved your knowledge about hoyas as much as I love your babies beauty. They are all beautiful. I'm new to this love of plants, not a year in yet. I do have a few hoyas. I noticed one that appears to be lecca, and I think I saw another mixture. What do the majority of yours grow in?
Your hoyas are so beautiful and lush❤. I love Hoyas for their folliage and flower smell. I just started getting into hoyas and I have 6 little cuttings doing well. Can't wait to get more hoyas❤❤
I'm a certified Hoya Hater but I do have one (and only one!) - it's the Polyneura! I enjoy it's veining and leaf shape, although the growth pattern is a little awkward imo. I find that hoyas have mostly the same leaf shape (I have similar feelings to anthirium which generally riles people up hahaha) and I don't feel drawn to their thick leaf/woody stem situation. They really do nothing for me 😬
@@hberror404 ooo very interesting the polyneura spoke to you! I have heard that about anthurium as well. love that this hobby can appeal to whatever people like 💚
Thank you for the video! How did you start the Krimson queen to make it like that? Or how long did it take? I have a tiny plant, and wondering I I need to pot a few together .
I actually can't take credit for the queen. I purchased it as an established plant a couple years ago, but it has grown fuller! it looks like lots of cuttings were potted together initially. thanks for watching!💚
I love the title of this video 😂 I'm really enjoying my hoya bella (mixed pot- all 3 varieties) and retusa! Edit to add that another category I like are the thin leaved hoya.
