I don't know between the fact that your parents raised you vegan and the fact that you're a circus performer somewhere in the middle I think that's sufficient penance for damaging one antique desk, when you've rescued so many other beautiful pieces.
My skin still crawled and raged at the screen when I saw that you had done it... because I love antiques. But I think the crazy things you do for this channel also help to balance the scales back in your favor. None of us will really know until the other side after all. But that's my guess

Jared, when you decide to reupholster the seat of your fainting couch instead of using small boards of wood to support the seating area you might want to go with a single piece of 1/2" plywood cut to size. That way you won't have hills and valleys under your butt. You can upholster the seat as one complete unit - plywood, foam or pad over that and upholstery vinyl or fabric stapled over that with decorative studs/nails. I love that you have aot of the fixtures match the time period of your Co-Op. It really adds to its charm and increases it's worth.

Jared has mentioned a girlfriend before, so I guess it was her. That's basing solely on the nail varnish which is _mostly_ a female thing. Next guesses are his friends we know best from the "That's Not Coffee" series. First the girl (Albo? Really hope I got that right) and then the guy (Stuart. It'll be funny if I got Albo right and his name is spelled "Stewart"), because I imagine they'd all find it funny for him to put on nail varnish for a sight gag.

I used to have a mohair sofa and chair with wood trim that was gorgeous but I was allergic to it so I had to get rid of it. I'd much rather have antiques or older furniture that was made well than the new junk. I think your sofa is flattening out because it was stuffed with durian and it is getting ripe.

The print, with the ladder... very strange, it resonates strongly with me, I am known in certain Video game circles for a tactic I developed in dark souls and bloodborne as an invader where I climb a ladder ahead of other players trying to kill me, then step back off the ladder and chop down the middle of it with a weapon essentially bisecting 3 other players and killing them with 1 stroke... I uploaded a video of it originally in bloodborne and it was featured by some larger TH-cam channels, and a writer for a video game magazine actually wrote an article about it. I am known among fans of these games as the triple ladder kill guy for that move, so it resonates with me though probably not for the reason it resonates with you XD

That kitchen is gorgeous! Neither the cabinets nor the counter top look painted and the ornate plates just pull it all together. I’m jealous of the stove - what a beautiful appliance. Oh the memories on that fold up table unit! I had one of those when I was in my 20’s and a single mom of three. (I’m 55 now). It was inexpensive and it fit in our tiny place that we could afford at the time. I agree, it’s a handy unit. I kind of regret getting rid of it years ago even though the kids are all grown and gone and I own a stand alone house now. That couch is a stunning piece - please do fix it up rather than replace it. Good job on the renovation over all, too! You did a great job pulling it all together and making each room flow into the next. I’m not certain how I stumbled upon you, but you’ve got a new subscriber.

Sorry if someone already said this but those old window bars look like butts. Also, you should have kept that piece of wood trim you cut off that beautiful desk so you could have repaired it when you moved!! But kudos on refinishing all the vintage and antique furniture. It makes me sad to see so much perfectly useful and well made stuff going into the trash while people buy brand new, cheaply made Ikea crap. Go to a thrift store once and a while people! At least pretend you care about the environment!

I love your space saving aesthetic. I don't want to live in a closet, but I always go for the most efficient small things I can find. The less the better. Yet, if it's too small, it's problematic. I'm still trying to find out what my tastes and personal aesthetic is though.

Gothic prison cell is more like it... NYC must be an awesome place, to put up with the cramped chaos. I could see being alright with that if you never got out, but being the worldly traveler you are, I am surprised you choose to stay there. I am all about high quality minimalism but I couldn't do it. Enjoy and never stop!

it's funny because as someone from eastern europe, the US idea of "vintage looking" painted furniture like that kitchen set is something people here would only see in the houses of those beset by extreme poverty
I personally can't get what you guys see in that style of painted furniture as being aesthetic; not throwing shade or anything just saying

This is so fascinating! It’s so neat to see how people live in small places. I live in a huge, 104 year-old very gothic house and I would go insane in 500 square feet. It’s like watching a horror movie and I love it! Also, I’m not bragging. My house is huge but I bet 1/10th the price because location location location 😂 I love how you keep the original fixtures, it’s the best part of an old home. I respect being a tiny part of my house’s history. Nice job!

There's a tradeoff, you know? Rent in the city is high, but you can probably walk to the grocery store. I grew up in a very big city, and now I live somewhere more rural, and I deeply miss not having to drive everywhere. Pros and cons, either way.

Hahah we rented a duplex with no washer and dryer, on the condition the owner would let us install a washer and dryer, so I know all about the lint bucket, and how humid things get when we run the dryer, but we are growing yellow dragon fruit and jack fruit and they seem to like the humidity. (Why am I trying to grow a tree that commonly reaches over 100 ft tall and makes 100lb fruits in my house? I’m stubborn, and the seed came from the most delicious jack fruit I ever tasted) uh anyway, so yeah i made a lint bucket, and wired the washer and dryer to the breaker box, and electrocuted myself in the process, and ever since then I have serious back issues, I think I spasmed so hard when I got shocked I broke some vertebrae in my back, but still better than breaking my back hauling laundry to the laundromat every few days for the past 7 years XD I would do it all over again, but probably wear protective gloves and footwear when wiring the breaker box...
