Why would anyone younger get excited about cars when they have become appliances. The Integrale is a throwback to an era when cars mattered and very few other than Porsche are still pushing. A fewer still within reach of the common person.

Well to be fair if you put a straight pipe (and do a ECU tune to make it work just right) the sound really starts to come out of that engine. And it sounds glorious. But yeah, the factory exhaust it's just too quiet.

When I was little I used to love watching group B... seemed like every race it was crash,.. cut to commercial,. It was unbelievable how people would literally stand there while a car at its complete limit would slide by on gravel.. 2 inches from they're legs.. wish we still had this but with safer spectator regulation. Souljastation 5 only one Lancia is for sale now, the Y, that is develop out of the punto/500 floor pan ( had3 of this) that is actually one of the Italian best sellers but that’s all, there was a couple in the recent years, ugly rebadging of unwanted Chrysler. Is a simple if nobody ask, there’s no need of producing. Delta is the Lancia history flagship, but the history behind it is impressive... and as Italians we have short memory.

A minor correction: WRC wasn´t terminated in 1986 after Henri´s accident. In fact, the season went down to the wire, with a duel between Markku Alen in the Delta S4 and Juha Kankkunen in the Peugeot 205 T16. What was terminated were the Group B and S categories, which Jean Marie Balestre quickly banned for 1987 after the deaths at Corsica. After the completion of the 1986 season at the RAC Rally, the 1987 season went as usual, starting at Monte Carlo. No restart as was said in the video...

Finally someone has brought up pronunciation, I have been wound up for years on this point😩 With the delta, I have had a HF 4WD, 8V integrale (note small i) and an Evo 1, I kept the HF 4WD, there is something about it that the others don’t have, try one if you get a chance.

Dear Jason I believe another reason for Delta's success was its driver's roster. Lancia employed the 2 flying Finns Kankkunnen and Alen, Miki Biasion and Didier Auriol.
Jeez, I love those crazy Italians! They will out crazy and outfox anyone to win and in the process make amazing machines that become legendary and Lancia is the best at it. I love that this was their 4th WRC Championship winner and a 6 time one too. What a machine!

When I was a kid a Delta HF Integrale Evo was my unattainable dream car, posters on the wall. In the late 90s I absolutely adored WRX, and now I drive GR Yaris Rallye. Funny that, who would have thought.
I have a 16v Integrale and I have the same shift knob and the headlight surrounds that are basically mesh for air circulation. So not an Evo-only thing. I am jealous of the Evo's strut towers and brace and one cool thing not mentioned: the water spray intercooler which all the Evos had for homologation purposes. Very cool. Love that Martini 5 - so beautiful and thank you for the pronunciation rant. When it's a guy's name - you say it right out of respect!
I’ve still got my 037 I got it when I was 14yrs old it’s still a perfectly smooth runner only the difference between mine is it’s an old Tamiya 1/10 radio control model with a maximum speed of 25mph that I got for Christmas in 1984 and that’s the closest I’ll ever get claim i own a 037. 😏. The S4 perished with Henri Toivonen and his Co-driver Sergio Cresta. They deserve mention by name. 2 of the greatest in Rally history.

Kudos for pronouncing Lancia properly. I know someone who owns one that didn't know he was mis-pronouncing the name.

I have a 16v Integrale and I have the same shift knob and the headlight surrounds that are basically mesh for air circulation. So not an Evo-only thing. I am jealous of the Evo's strut towers and brace and one cool thing not mentioned: the water spray intercooler which all the Evos had for homologation purposes. Very cool. Love that Martini 5 - so beautiful and thank you for the pronunciation rant. When it's a guy's name - you say it right out of respect!

I’ve still got my 037 I got it when I was 14yrs old it’s still a perfectly smooth runner only the difference between mine is it’s an old Tamiya 1/10 radio control model with a maximum speed of 25mph that I got for Christmas in 1984 and that’s the closest I’ll ever get claim i own a 037. 😏. Holy crap the way that car takes those hairpins at the end... That whole segment had me going "ah shit that was way too fast, he's gonna fly off the road now, poor car!" and it just went around the corner no problem, no fuss, not even tire squeel!

You are so right about pronunciations. Not only of Italian companies/brands, but French, German, Japanese, etc. So “Nikon” (the camera manufacturer) is NEE-kon, for example.
Looking at "views count", I sadly have to remember Sergio Marchionne.. He was thinking Lancia name did mean almost nothing to the world apart from older Europe. This video should have been viewed millions of times.

Its actually like the first Superhatch 20 years in advance. Like what is an Rs3 or an A45 amg today.
Turbo awd hatch with over double the horsepower amount of concurrent of the time. normal fwd hothatch like 205 309 and golf gti or kadett gsi had beetwin 110 and 160 bhp.
Closest thing to it at the time where all rally homologation cars build copying lancia receipt. Escort costworth, 323 gtr, pulsar gti-r. And without a hatch lancer evo and wrx sti.

I also love your ability to pronounce the names of cars, companies and people correctly!!! Technically, however, we Italians (as in you and I) do not say “Ee-vo”... we say “Ey-vo”. You got “Ey-vo-luT-zi-oh-ney” right, so, the shortened version is “Ey-vo”... Keep up the great content and proper pronunciations!!! Complimenti!!
