And i miss some of your jokes from your older content :D
Well done LG for doing this. I myself am not a fan boy and have had both LG and Samsung TV's. I have a S95b and I have a good one with a straight panel and no issues. There was an update done last week and it has made the UI so much more responsive and it no longer hangs or becomes unresponsive. I have not had this issue on the S95b with ABR coming in. I also looked at the G2 when I bought the Samsung. The guy that sold me the TV after I raised the issues with the S95b, he threw in an extended 5 year warranty. In Australia we have very little issues with the S95b so how odd is that. I know there are many reports of issues with the S95b. I am now converted to OLED and never going back to LCD TV's. Great vid for sure!
The fixing of the algorithm responsible for unwanted dimming in the updated firmware is certainly an improvement, but unless/until you can completely disable auto-dimming in the service menu (or preferably in the advanced settings in the typical tv settings application), this is still a problem. There are those of us who use these displays as computer monitors and the auto-dimming is not only INCREDIBLY annoying, it severely impacts my ability to maintain high levels of color accuracy in creative workloads such as photo editing and video production. I firmly believe that maintaining auto-dimming, in it's current (fixed firmware) state by default is certainly the correct choice as in the most likely environments and contexts, it will behave correctly to users' expectations, but advanced users should be able to turn this feature off completely should their needs differ from default contexts.
I'm a computer user too. Am wondering if this new firmware will be good enough for computer use (with the only pixels changing being some typing). I imagine scrolling text will keep it bright. Guess we'll find out.
It's telling that the "monitor" counterparts to these TVs often don't have this feature enabled or let you disable it from the main menus. I feel like LG is trying to push people to not buy the much cheaper (especially around end of year sales) C3 as a desktop display and instead their (or partners') "monitor" versions of the same thing.
This is still not fixed in 3.30.70 when using the G3 as a computer monitor. I code all day and this is INCREDIBLY annoying. I feel like I'm slowly falling asleep... then I have to wiggle something on the screen to get it to wake back up. We need this option in the service menu back!
@@PunishYou That's so strange, cause my 42 inch c3 which I got a month ago has had TPC and GSR OFF by default in the service menu, I went into the service menu to turn them off but they were already off.
@@PunishYou yup, if it were really about the warranty, on a network connected tv, they would just have a prompt that you agree to void the warranty for serial number xyz, and then give you the settings. Fast? This has been an issue for years, and they knew about it. It seems they only responded because knowledgeable people were highly critical of not being able to change these settings anymore. When I sent them a video of the effect it has on my C1 I was told it was normal behavior. That was about 1,5 years ago.
@@cdragon88 true, they've been really on edge since last year and now really trying to push Hollywood, burn-in and what not in their marketing and having reviewers called in from around the world to direct comparison events. They called the european reviewers to Frankfurt, and the Americans to disney just to show their TVs being used. They were getting hit on from both sides. S95b vs C2 and A95k vs G2 and i still don't think they're beating them in picture quality our even brightness
You are with out doubt the best reviewer on TH-cam for TV reviews. I have held off buying a new TV until you have reviewed the Lg C and G 2 against the new Sony A 95 L. You are a powerful voice for all of us who understand and appreciate technology that can make our viewing experience the best it can be. Thanks you for all who have been saved by your reviews. And also, importantly, your sponsors who have su-ported you on this crusade. If I was in the UK I would 100% go and buy from them, alas I am in Australia.
THANK YOU Vincent for holding LG's feet to the fire, thank you other commenters for making your voices heard, and thank you LG for listening and responding quickly. This puts the G3 back in my shopping cart (x2) for my colour grading studio and for personal home use as well. Because I'm working with critical colour accuracy at work, it's imperative that the screen brightness not vary during that process, since it's been meticulously calibrated. Whilst I'm still going to want to know that the screen dimming can be disabled for static shots (since I might be looking at it critically on pause while grading), it's a huge step forward. I think every colourist will more than happily trade the warranty for that ability. I know I did when I first set TPL and GSR off on my CX. And you know what? Yes, I have a small amount of burn-in on my CX as a result. And that's OK, I'm not going to complain and I'm not expecting LG to fix what I know I've contributed to. I am responsible for that choice and as an adult, I can live with that :) Looking forward to your full review and also seeing how the new service remote settings work to make everything 100% accurate at all times for my job.
Great video! It's inspiring to see how LG is actively collaborating with the “market” to identify and fix potential issues in their products. This kind of collaboration between manufacturers and consumers is crucial for improving product quality and user experience. It's great to see LG taking feedback from the market seriously and providing almost real-time updates to fix issues. We definitely need more of this kind of dynamic collaboration in the tech industry. Keep up guys, the community and LG did great work!
This is great! Now, they need to do this for All of their existing models from 6 Series all the way to the 2 series. That way none of us will have to worry about voiding the warranties of our LG OLED TVs.
@Hichem: LG still cares. They have given most of their previous gen TVs updates. Last one for the LG C9 is December. So, yes they still update their old gen TVs
Really hope LG rolls this out for the C1 as my TV tends to auto dim at the worst of times during low light scenes in hdr. Makes it almost impossible to figure out whats happening on screen.
I watched that video and you made it pretty clear that you only had a short time with the set and that there may be a way to get to further menu settings. In fact, the messages complaining about it mentioned those things, so I can't see what their issue is.

Thank you, Vincent! I had been telling my wife this was the year we were going to upgrade to the 83", but after your first video I decided this sadly was not the year to buy a new LG. This news has given us renewed hope! I'm hoping your subsequent reviews of this year's OLED will keep LG honest. Our 77 CX had brutal dimming, and it shocked me that LG told me it was normal. The service menu settings thankfully saved the day and I've been happy ever since.

I would be really thankful for one last update, since I do not want to risk my Oled by disabling settings in the service menu.

@@WhyCantIGetAnAvailableHandle It's funny how Samsung is still far and away my favorite display maker, especially when you look at PC monitors no-one else comes close to providing the quality you get with Samsung, but the S95 series just has such a bad reputation right now I cannot justify upgrading until Samsung gets their sh*t sorted in the firmware. And at the same time LG is doing great things with WRGB OLED too so we have a real competition running this year.
Samsung lost me forever with the crappy software they had on whatever TV of theirs I had. It was so obnoxious. I have a lot of game consoles that get swapped in and out as I play different games, and every time I changed what was plugged in it would reset all of the settings to enable all kinds of garbage post processing and auto dimming and weird color temperatures I didn't want. I'd have to spend a couple minutes every time changing it all back again. And sometimes I didn't even have to change what was plugged in, it would just go ahead and change it all anyway because it felt like it. LG C2 sometimes decides "Oh you plugged in a PS3, we'll change the input name. Oh now you plugged in a Wii U, we'll change the input name again". But otherwise it leaves the settings alone. Thank goodness!!! I really don't care if it screws up the names, I just remember the HDMI numbers anyway.
It's been an issue for years. Yeah you could change it with a service remote but it's still a bug, and something a ton of consumers will never figure out.

Because of a previous Vincent video I was not going to buy the G3… However, after watching this video it seems my only complain has been amended and I will be buying the panel. Thx!
That's great news except for those of us who have C2s or G2s and who have to either live with it or void our warranty? Good of them to "rush" out the firmware update for TV's they want to sell but what about existing customers?
TPC is the bane of my A/V life on my G1. I don't want to leave it disabled, due to kids misusing the TV, so I have to constantly turn it /on/off almost daily. I hope this TPC improvement eventually comes to older models too.

Thank you. This is why I watch and will continue watching your videos.
Thank you Vincent! You are awesome. You are doing basically everyone a favor and they are criticising you for it.... And still, you do not stop, because you and your expertise are able to move those companies to update their products and make them better for everyone! Please do not stop. And i miss some of your jokes from your older content :D
The people who criticized him probably didn’t even know what asbl meant in the first place.
💯
WELL DONE? How is it WELL DONE for a brand new TV to not even display images at the correct brightness in the first place?
What is the lg 03.11.45 update?
@Vincent , can you please ask LG if they are also do the firmware fix for the C2 too?
My service remote comes in tomorrow. Going to try this trick from a video titled "Dimming Disabled! LG G3/C3 Secret Menu STILL WORKS! (ASBL/TPC/GSR)"
Great find and thanks for sharing this 'PSA' with your subscribers. Also anxiously awaiting confirmation upon the possible fw-update for the 2022 LG 42" C2 model.
I’m honestly both surprised and impressed they responded so fast.
I'm not, their competition is stronger than ever right now from Samsung and Sony. On the high-end, they need to be competitive.
Fast? This has been an issue for years, and they knew about it. It seems they only responded because knowledgeable people were highly critical of not being able to change these settings anymore.
When I sent them a video of the effect it has on my C1 I was told it was normal behavior. That was about 1,5 years ago.
@cyvRabbit 88 LG seems to listen a lot better to complaints than everyone else.
@@shivamarya5225 they will beat them in both easily with G3 but not with that C3.

Awesome work as usual, Vincent... A big thank you 👍
Well done. Amazing their QA guys hadn't caught this until you published your previous video.
GOOD!!! Hope the C1 gets this update too!
Great work tho man! They are clearly listening to you!
I am responsible for that choice and as an adult, I can live with that :) Looking forward to your full review and also seeing how the new service remote settings work to make everything 100% accurate at all times for my job.
thank you lg for listening !!!
Keep up guys,
the community and LG did great work!
AWESOME! Thanks Vincent for bringing this to light. Now I can get a G3, rather than getting an older model!!
Great work Vincent you performed a public duty. Thanks LG for listening and I will be checking out the 42inch C3 for sure. :)
Really hope LG rolls this out for the C1 as my TV tends to auto dim at the worst of times during low light scenes in hdr. Makes it almost impossible to figure out whats happening on screen.
They probably won’t, they’ve known about this issue since the c1 released almost two years ago and haven’t done anything to correct it
@@fucingpwnz0rz Three as far as I'm concerned with my CX model but others reported it on C9 as well. So 4 years total TPC with broken algorithm.

3 years at least in existence and you call it quickly?
quickly? are you high?
Fantastic work Vincent and everyone. This would have definitely been a deal breaker for me so glad LG listened
By releasing this firmware, LG is acknowledging there is problem, and I certainly hope they will fix it on CX, C1 and C2 and the the G series as well.
Won't happen. They're just going to use it to sell newer models. Keep buying this trash and you'll keep getting more trash.
Is it fixed yet?
@@gamegunner9079 no :/
I watched that video and you made it pretty clear that you only had a short time with the set and that there may be a way to get to further menu settings. In fact, the messages complaining about it mentioned those things, so I can't see what their issue is.
Vincent: Please contact LG and ask that they incorporate and release this update on C2 TVs !!!
We need this update fix on C2 OLED Evo series as well!
(and older model)
Did they fix it?

Brilliant work, this really was a deal breaker.
Thankfully this quick update looks promising. I'm pleased LG are taking the time to judge what's right for consumers after Vincents investigations and provide a fix
Brilliant work, my friend! Now lets get it to the C1 and C2!
Well done Vincent! You’ve just saved LG losing millions of customers! If I was LG I would say thank you. Keep up the great work!
thank you sooo much for bringing awareness to this issue. Also thanks to LG for listening and fixing it.
We need to keep showing LG that we care about having this fixed on older models! Share this video, comment on it, and make a big fuss!

I really was concerned that LG was going to spin off special editions for big studio use, leaving out all of the other unaffiliated post production colorists around the country. I look forward to your G3 review.
Thank you very much Vincent.
Now I just hope this will be updated to the G2 too (I don't know why they wouldn't)
A new software Version for C1,G1 has been released 03.34.80 -GSR and TPC settings are still Available in the Service Menu.
You’ll want the 77” G3 not 83” ;-)
We need this for the C2 now! Please LG! 🤞
Vincent you are the GOAT! LG needed to be put on blast for this.
Vincent you are the best. These two TVs are on my bucket list and that fix has made one of them my next tv. Thank you sir. Please keep up your super high standards and never worry about a couple detractors. What you do has incredible value.
I know its old, but could you please also do it for the CX and BX series? The dimming is annoying sometimes. I am convinced that LG by far has the best software and update support of any TV brand. I would be really thankful for one last update, since I do not want to risk my Oled by disabling settings in the service menu.

Nice one Vincent, thanks, i hope they send the update for the G2 too.
The way LG handles firmware so much better than the competition is the only reason I don't have a Samsung S95 QD-OLED right now.
BUT SAMAUNG BAD!!!
@@mjc0961 You shouldn't have a PS3 in 2022-2023

Amazing how quickly LG addressed this. The G3 will be mine.
It's been an issue for years. Yeah you could change it with a service remote but it's still a bug, and something a ton of consumers will never figure out.
As usual... Vincent is doing a great job and as a consumer, I am super grateful for that 🤓
This update should definitely come to the C1 and C2 models to avoid voiding the warranty as Vincent mentions.
