I came across these earbuds on sale but had never heard of Baseus and wasn't sure if it was a good deal or just cheap junk. Very helpful to see this review, thanks!
Thank you for your comment! Here's a not-so-quick rundown on Baseus: Baseus is a well-known brand in Asia and Australia, and have gradually expanded to the rest of the world. Founded in 2011, they've established themselves in their main marketplaces with their well-made consumer electronics; mainly smartphone accessories like charging adapters, cables, and power banks. If I were to compare them to another brand, they're similar to ANKER in how they started. However ANKER has grown faster globally, and their audio division, Soundcore, is considered one of the better producers of Bluetooth earbuds and headphones. You can now find ANKER and Soundcore products at big box stores like BestBuy and Walmart. I personally think Baseus can be more competitive if they put more effort into one particular product, such as their earbuds. But instead they've continued to expand to other products. For example you can now buy Baseus car accessories such as car vacuums, battery boosters, and ice scrapers. Odd, I know. Also, their presence on Amazon has diminished, and they've closed their Amazon store. Now all you see are 3rd party sellers. Anyhow, I've rambled long enough. I will continue to review their products if I see something that catches my eye. Their build quality and procuct packaging are excellent, and oddly enough that makes me want to review their products. @@novumverum Thanks for this! I decided to buy these earbuds (at a discount for $40 USD). This was based partly on your review. Even though they lack the super basic function of volume control (for god's sakes), from what I've seen the quality still justifies buying at this price. I live in the stone age of wired earbuds, but as my new phone came without a 3.5mm jack I am compelled to get some BT earbuds. This will be a nice upgrade for me, even if I have to use the volume rocker on my phone. Keep up the good work, looking forward to more reviews.

I started my channel because I hated seeing these so-called "reviewers" posting content that were really just sponsored ads for brands and companies. The great majority of these popular TH-camrs were paid to plug a product so people would buy them. Ever bought something based on what you've read and/or seen online only to be disappointed with the product? I know I have. So I started my channel to address this issue and just give plain and honest reviews. And I wanted the name to reflect my channel's ideology. Hence novum verum. Cheers!
Thanks for your question, but unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to test the Bowie E9s. They're not currently available on Amazon.ca or any major retailer. AliExpress seems to be the only place but it's delivery times are too long, at least for me. Sorry I can't be of more help 😔
Thanks for your question. The bass is actually quite good. Not as powerful as I would like, but still solid. Basically, for your average Joes, these would be perfectly fine. But if you're a bass-head and want your eardrums rattled, then these won't be very enjoyable lol! Overall, the sound performance is similar to the SiMU S1, with slightly better clarity and improved call quality. But looking at this objectively, although Baseus did do a bit of tweaking and made upgrades here and there, I think they still fell short with the S2. Cheers.
Hello, and thank you for your question. The ANC is good. Obviously not complete sound isolation, but still very solid dampening performance. It's similar to the S1.
ANC destroys the music quality so much that it's unacceptable. However they do not have a good sound quality without the ANC, so it probably does not matter anyway.
@@mecgorny I didn't have this issue with my set. Very odd. I did have issues during calls on the S1 when I had ANC or ASM on, but not on the S2. Still, I won't deny that Baseus needs to step up their game and do their due diligence if they want to justify their price points, or stay in business for that matter. Seems like everyone has had one issue or another 😐 Cheers!

You got to be deaf to appreciate the sound quality. Also very quiet. It's a little better toy than the cheapest earbuds.
