Welcome to novum verum!
This is a no-nonsense, layperson-friendly product review channel with a focus on bluetooth earbuds, headphones, and speakers, and (occasionally) vlogging equipment such as tripods, lighting equipment, and camera accessories.
I got tired of reviews that are just sponsored spots masquerading as unbiased and honest reviews. And other reviews just spew technical terms without explanation to help viewers understand. Personally, I just want to know if the product is good or not.
How well or poorly does it perform? Is the construction and material of good or poor quality? Is it worth it? These are the real questions people need answers to, and I hope to provide them clearly and concisely.
No regurgitated product descriptions. No blatant advertisements disguised as honest reviews. No techno-babble to confuse viewers.
Cheers!
P.S. These are my own opinions on products I have personally purchased (taking full advantage of sales and rebates wherever possible).

I got it at 14$ at Amazon Black Friday. Why do you want to destroy the environment with packaging when you are going to throw the box as soon as you start using it. ?
@@notmyname8527 thanks for your comment. Understand that this video is simply me sharing my personal impressions of a product. Your assumption I want to destroy the environment simply because I mentioned the change in packaging is ridiculous and untrue. I actually keep the packaging of all the products I review. I got a question.I bought myself the skull candy anc crusher And I'm having trouble connecting my headphones to the skull candy IQ app. And I've heard that a lot of people are having a problem with it. Can you give me a little bit of insight? If you know, maybe are they going to get a new software? Update because my headphones work fine. They collect a connect to my Bluetooth. Fine, everything is good. It's just, it, sometimes it connects to the IQ app and then it Kix me out. And when I'm in the app. All I can work is the equalizer. And that's it everything else is like it's frozen. If you can just give me a little bit in sight. That would be great cause. I just got them about 4 days ago. And I already put a warranty claim in, but I don't want to send the headphones in for warranty. Cause they're not gonna fix it if it's a software. Issue or something? I have the S23 FE phones. All my androids up-to-date and I connected the IQ app. No problem. But I heard that other people are having issues. If you can get back to me that'll be great.I really enjoy your videos , by the way
I am so sorry for this crazy late response! The Skullcandy Dime did not require an app to operate or access functions/features so I never needed Skull-IQ. I think the Dime Evo can connect to the app, but not the plain Dime I reviewed. Anyhow, I hope you've found a solution. If not, then here's what I've gathered from reading multiple forum posts in regards to this issue with Skullcandy devices.. the only solution that may work is doing a factory reset. Here's what I suggest: 1) With your headset disconnected and turned off, delete the app completely including any connected device data; 2) Remove your headset from the "Paired Device" list of your phone, deactivate Bluetooth, then turn your phone off and on -- do a full power down and start up, not just a basic restart; 3) Do the factory reset on you headset -- I think you have to press and hold both the volume up and down buttons for a while, but please double-check with your manual or Skullcandy's support page on how to do this; 4) Once you've done all that, turn on your phone's Bluetooth and try to connect your headset to your phone. Now you have 3 scenarios: A) If it doesn't pair up then try it with another Bluetooth-capable device like a tablet or laptop, or another smartphone if you have one available -- just make sure it's not a device you've paired to before or your headset is removed from the "Paired Device" list. If it pairs up with another device then it's an issue with your original phone; if it doesn't then it's an issue with the headset and you'll have to RMA it. OR B) If it does pair with your phone, see if it works normally WITHOUT the app -- you should have basic functions like volume and track controls. Once you've confirmed you have those basic functions, then download the IQ app and run it. Once activated it should recognize and link to your headset automatically; if it doesn't then the issue is the app itself. OR C) Now if it pairs just fine without the app, AND works with the app once installed and running, you may get an "update available" for your headphones. If your headphones still pairs and works with full functionality after the update, then you know the problem has been resolved. If after the update your headset no longer connects, then it's the update that's screwing things up. Repeat the process but do NOT update your headset. My apologies once again for not responding sooner. And sorry this reply is a little long-winded. I hope you've already resolved your issue, but if not I hope this troubleshooting will do the trick. Cheers!
Thanks for the review. I’ve been thinking about this backpack, this review helped!
Thank you for that video. I've been having the same problem connecting. The right one is fine but the left doesn't connect with some devices

FYI i bought a new pair of Monster iSport Champion Airlinks. There are my immediate finds, the new poar came in a smaller black box, the buds are now touch controll instead of the old button control that i love. The old button control are better than the new touch sensor ver. Not knowing that the physical button have been changed out defeated my main purpose of buying them again. I bought them becoz i liked its button control. The charger box is not as tightly shut as the old ver. And the lid do not stay up like what the lld of the old ver used to. It slam close at the slightly tilt now, lousy strength.
@@Pey_Hwa thanks for your comment. So the new version has touch controls?? That's disappointing. Like you, I think physical buttons are great, and on the isports they were very convenient. Hi. Do you know how to manually turn them on after being on stand by mode WITHOUT putting them back in the box? Thank you!
@@nantyfields3226 sorry for the late response. From what I recall, there is no way to turn them on without the case. Unfortunately I no longer have these so I can't verify. I do remember these go into sleep/standby mode when there's no activity for a long period of time (I think 30mins). You can then wake them up by opening the JBL app. However, they will turn off if not connected to a device. I wish I could give you a more confident answer. Sorry I can't be of more help. Cheers!

Check for bulging/swelled batteries as some can become defective over time. In Dec 2023 one of my (third party) "PowerExtra NP-W126 Batteries" swelled up. I went out with my Fujifilm X-T20 and the rolling shutter locked, and the camera kept clicking. I switched the camera off but it continued clicking until I remove the battery. The battery was difficult to take out and seemed to be stuck but managed to tap it out. I waited a moment then slid the battery back in. The camera switched on okay, until I pressed the shutter button and again the same happened. I then removed the stuck battery and put it back in but did not use the camera. When I got home I left the battery on the charger until now. The same thing happened all over again and I could not remove the battery very easily. This time I had to pry it out. That's when I noticed the battery had slightly swelled, realizing it had become defective. I'm glad the camera or battery didn't catch on fire and I'll dispose the battery. The third party charger with 2 batteries was purchased from Amazon by the seller when I purchased his used X-T20 camera in Aug 2021.

It's great to see you reviewing the Debs Tech dw49 4K webcam. Thanks for providing such a detailed and thorough analysis of its performance. Your unboxing and testing process really helped me understand the pros and cons of this webcam. It's disappointing to hear that it didn't meet your needs for unboxing videos due to the sensitivity to lighting and the audio quality. However, it's good to know that it performed well for video conferencing and webcasting when the conditions were right. I appreciate your dedication to providing honest and detailed reviews. Looking forward to your upcoming reviews and seeing how you continue to evaluate various products. Keep up the excellent work!
the lfer one for me is not charging at all tried cleaning and stuff but nothng is working
I'm sorry to hear that your buds aren't charging. I suggest contacting Monster directly, or return/exchange it with the retailer if you can. Monster customer service from my experience has been top-notch, and I've also had received replacements or refunds from Amazon sellers on the rare occasions I had an issue which were damaged products/packaging due to mishandling during shipping. I gave my Mission V1 to a friend of mine awhile back and he's had no issues at all. I do hope you can get a replacement. Good luck!
I just bought this 3 weeks ago and I'm disappointed ! Left side disconnected after 20-30 minutes listen of music at max volume and right side last for about 3 hours although both sides was fully charged in the same case. I intend to return it back to store

@@novumverum glad to know all is well. Stay safe and healthy!
Speakers shouldn't be reviewed until they've been played consistently for a couple of weeks due to a break-in period after which the sound will open up. High end stereo enthusiasts know this and it applies to cheap electronics as well.
Hello, and thanks for your comment. I knew about high-end audio systems needing "warming up" as it were. But I actually never considered that for small consumer electronics, so thank you for the tip! When I reviewed speakers, I usually used them for a couple of days before doing the review tests. But I wasn't consistent from speaker to speaker. I'll definitely keep that in mind when I feel comfortable reviewing speakers again. Cheers!
@@novumverum Yes, all electronics, big and small!
Imagine if this dude had to review a laptop; the video would be 96 hours long…
Thanks for your comment. I realize that my videos are quite long and certainly not for everyone. With everyone in a rush for no real reason, I understand where you're coming from. However there are tons of reviewers out there who simply mention the feature set and tell you where to buy the products if that's more your speed. It would be even faster if you yourself would go to a product page and read the product description. Personally, I prefer reviewers who are thorough, and those are the ones I try to emulate. Granted at the time of this review, I was still new to video composition and editing, and tbh I'm still learning. In retrospect, I probably could cut this particular review down to about 12 minutes. But I wouldn't omit information just to shorten video lengths. Cheers!
Very thorough review. Appreciate your follow-up after one month, instead of just unboxing it, as well as the little details that are usually understated.
Does it have the forward and previous song tracking?
Can the buds wireless charge without the case?
How is this different from flame 1 and flame 2?
The bass can be changed in the JBL app that's free to use and I'm telling you they're the best headphones. They're better than my 180$ Sony bass xf700s
Spent 5 minutes opening the box and didn't cover connecting.
Thanks for your comment. I'm sorry, I just assumed everyone knew how to connect Bluetooth devices. But you are right, there are people like yourself who don't know how to do this. Maybe I'll do an instructional video when I can get back to reviewing. Thanks for pointing this out. Cheers!
Bro this one or anker soundcore 2 which is the better sound and bass
Apologies for the extremely late response. Both of the Soundcore Flare Mini and Anker Soundcore 2 have their pros and cons. However, between the two, the Anker Soundcore 2 is an older model (2017). The Flare Mini launched a couple of years later, which I believe is the same year Anker made "Soundcore" a wholly separate brand and division. I do suggest you consider Soundcore's latest lineup, the Motion series. These launched Summer 2023. I wasn't able to get a set to review, but I've been able to listen to the Motion+ and the Motion X600. The Motion+ is their latest compact speaker, whereas the X600 is much larger. Both sound far better than the much older models. They are a bit pricier though so at the end of the day, the choice would be up to your budget. I hope that helps somewhat. Cheers!
What webcam for streaming do you recommend? I like the quality of the one you are using at the end of this video
Which one is best compare to jbl clip 4
Hello, and thanks for your question! I have to say that the JBL Bluetooth speakers I've listened to are far clearer and cleaner, including the Clip series. However, when compared to the Clips the Soundcore Flare speakers are much louder. So at the end of the day it all depends on what your use case is. Isee a lot of people use the Clips at work or at play, clipped to their belts or backpacks. Abd most people I've met use the stand-up cannister-style speakers at home or in the backyard on a tabletop. I hope that helps. Cheers!
Thank you!
Can this be used with a green screen?-
Hello, and thank you for your question. This is just like any other webcam, and so long as you have the software, it can be used with a green screen. I've used it with Zoom which has their own background effects and it worked just fine. However, as I mentioned in the review, optimum capture distance is around 3-4 feet, and the subject needs to be centered in the frame. You'll definitely need to experiment with your setup (camera angle, lighting, etc) to get the most out of this webcam. So, as long as your aware of it capabilities and limitations, I can honestly say the DW49 is a decent, budget-friendly option for streaming and video conferencing.
Hello, thanks for review, would you know how to adjust sound quality? Seems to me my buds are missing bass ?
Hello and thank you for your question. The only way to adjust/enhance the bass is to use an equalizer. Most music and streaming apps have their own equalizer built in. You could also download a dedicated equalizer app but I haven't used any so can't recommend anything specific. With these apps, they actually manipulate the audio file as it transmits to your buds. The downside to this is that not all your audio files will be will sound great. For example, if you have a track that's already heavy on the bass but you turn up the bass in the equalizer, the bass can become distorted. Also equalizer apps don't account for your buds' capabilities, so the speakers and drivers may not be able to handle heavy bass, higher volumes, etc. I don't believe Holy High has an app, but other brands like Sony, Soundcore, and JBL, all have accompanying apps that tweek the hardware and not the file. I find these to sound more consistent from track to track, no matter the quality and/or compression of the audio files. I think I went a little overboard with this so my apologies lol! But I hope I answered your question. Cheers!
I have these for watching TH-cam videos at night while my partner sleeps, so I don't wake him. They're literally fine for that purpose. I've had them almost a year and for $20 they're still going strong lol

You didn't fully checked everything out on the lp3 , i say that because I was able to control everything on them . I think you should go back and do another review on them since the updates on the LP3 has happened... I have enjoyed mine since day one, I'm a musician and a studio engineer part time, and the sound quality is awesome and having the ability to make the necessary EQ changes is beautiful...
Hello, and thank you for your comment. Yes, I was made aware of the control functions on the app. Not too sure why it wasn't when I first downloaded but it was there when I reinstalled it. I'll pin the correction when I have a chance. Thank you for reminding me. Real life takes precedence and sadly I just haven't been able to do anything on my channel these last few months. Currently working on another review (which has had its own challenges) so I'm hoping to post that real soon. But back to the L3P. As for the sound quality, yes these are very capable earbuds, however the initial out-of-box experience wasn't great. A balanced, neutral audio setting would've been great but mine sounded atrocious, and the presets were better, but some sounded flat while others seemed unbalanced. For something that was hyped up on social media, it didn't meet expectations. I had to manually manipulate the equalizer to get decent sound quality. But for consumers who use presets, or those who don't know how to use an equalizer, this would be a disappointment. That's what I was trying to convey in my review. Anyhow, thanks again! I really do enjoy getting these questions and comments. Cheers!
