seriously, this update just made me realize they could have done this years ago but chose not to. if anything, this is update just further validates going f2p after the 3 years 3 pulls fiasco. the hardest thing in this game is suffering through unskippable yapfests, so whats the point in spending?
This is also good for wuwa because now wuwa will also have to release better updates to compete

I barely touched the game since changli banner there's nothing else i can do in the game even this new update feels lacking although the qol is amazing. the event on the previous update is comparable to Genshin mini game boring af.

Well, to be fair, our expectations were our own problem when we weren't promised anything. The CEO himself taking the stage, addressing common criticism and promising to do better in the future, on top of the neat things for the game from the 5.0 stream, is something that, like, never happened before in the lifespan of Genshin, so i think it's ok to consider this situation to be a bit different from the past 4 years. We're yet to see, of course, how things will end up, but this is the first time i can actually feel at least cautiously optimistic for the future of this game. And that comes from someone who dropped Genshin half a year ago, was extremely bitter about his experience with Genshin, doesn't plan to return to Genshin even for Natlan, and now playing WuWa because it's a better game IMO.

Do you really think Da Wei is the cause of this??? It's not Da Wei's fault (CEO), it's Cai Haoyu's fault (Director of Genshin) who stepped down recently.
Da Wei was finally able to give the players what they want since Cai Haoyu stepped down.
You should realize the reason why these changes occured so late was due to Cai Haoyu (director of Genshin who turned it into the sh*thole it was that recently just ) not Da Wei (CEO of Hoyoverse who actually listens to demands of players as seen in HSR)
How do I know this? Well take HI3 for example, Cai Haoyu used to be director for that game and it used to be really bad, but when he stepped down from that game to be director of Genshin, they end up giving out free S ranks (aka 5 star characters) like every other update it's like insane.
This is how it was with Genshin, it used to be really sh*tty but now Cai Haoyu has also stepped down in Genshin which caused Genshin devs to finally give out the things they wanted to give out.
All of these delays in QoL changes were caused by one jack*ss alone and it wasn't due to competition after 4 years of it being released that they finally listened, it was because that one jack*ss finally stepped down.
My relationship with GI is broken beyond repair at this point. But if me quiting the game can help people who still playing enjoy the game more, that's good enough.

Cai Haoyu is the problem. He has a proven track record on his absolute dog$h!t management. In HI3, he was the reason why the game was so unforgiving for new players. And he's done irreversible damage on the game that forces the new producer to keep churning out newer better characters and always changing meta or else they would lose revenue.
I heard from unreliable sources, that I am vehemently hoping to be true, that Cai Haoyu has finally stepped down and let the game be in the hands of someone who actually listens as opposed to just being there for easy cash. It's because of Cai Haoyu's infamous stinginess that Genshin has the reputation it has. I really do hope that it's true because the only reason why the game is so bad is because of Cai Haoyu.
Btw, in HI3, after he fuqed off, the game got so much better. More rewards, less grind, more content, better story, etc. Just all around a lot better after he stepped away from that game.

@@Rex_Nichts yeah i also learned about that. after he stepped down HI3 it became generous, then he moved to genshin, now he stepped down again and became the zzz director, you will feel it when you start the game. now the director of genshin is the same director of starrail so people are assuming that genshin will change moving forward.
The part where Dawei is looking at the Excel file containing player's "Feedbacks" was the most hilarious part of all. Those "Feedbacks" were saying things like these:
"I love the dinosaurs in Natlan, they're so CUTE! Please add more of them in the future!"

Imma be honest, I don’t believe any of what Da Wei said about going around the world listening directly to players. To me that is nothing but lies they come up with to convince players that they will now l isten to players. Whether they actually keep it that way is still up for debate but knowing hoyo they’ll revert back to their stingy rewards after 5.0 dies down.

Genshin corporate management knows what is wrong, but for whatever reason; it could be just be being stubborn, arrogant that they think are right, or just outright idiocy, these 'messed up in the head people' never wanted to improve their game, likely look at it, it has been 4 years.

Sorry but i don't buying this excuse that they didn't knew about Genshin problems all those years. It took them 5 years to do something and the tone deaf dev notes about endgame creating anxiety, about them fixing something that nobody had a problem with, or nerfing neuvillette... The only reason they doing something is because Wuwa and gacha like azure premillia, NTE, project Mugen coming out.
That artifact selector is a great change, though. But I'm afraid that they will mess it up like always. Like they will limit the resources to get them to the point that you can select 1 artifact per patch or it will be a whale bait from the shop.
Also I would prefer 10 pull instead of the 5 star selector. Standard characters are mid/powercreeped and a lot of players already had most of them and it's 5th year of the game like... c'mon man. They should do selector for all 1.x limited characters.
I guess the artifact selector will be as you say. We need 4 to craft 1 artifact and anni as well as bp gives 1 each, seem very rare.

The artifact substat selector will be great until it rolls in everything but the substats you selected. Plus yeah idk how often they’ll hand them. One way to get them is already locked behind paid battlepass. You can get them through scraping artifacts, but live stream showed you get one every 18 days (minimum) through that method.

Talk is cheap, and with the Genshin devs' track record of sitting on their asses instead of improving their game, unless they add some revolutionary changes to the core gameplay experience, I ain't wasting my SSD space on it.
This is exactly how I feel about all this news. It's literally "Genshin will never," until it's actually in the game and is actually good QoL. You can't hold your breath with these guys.

Tighnari and Keqing actually hold up well, Jean is good with Furina at least, Qiqi believe it or not has some niche usefulness, and there exist situations where Mona can't be replaced by Furina

Tbh, I don't even care about endgame and exploration at this point. I just hope they stop making the important story being childish and boring. Make a great story, stop focus story on NPC, focus more on lore and playable characters

Yup. A really good example is how they handled the recent 1.1 story in ZZZ. It shows that they’re capable of making a good, well-paced story without the dialogue bloat and time wasting side quests… if only they could do this for Genshin and HSR, it wouldn’t feel as painful doing quests. Or atleast add a fcking skip button.

Please, I just need them, to add the limited story events (unreconiled stars, albedo story events,irodiri festival, etc) to be permanent! No need for every reward other than the weapons! You can’t have albedo bis and have it locked in a limited event 🙁 not to mention the world building problems and dissonance new players get. It limits genshin story in that limited events can’t have lasting consequences, never mentionef again even if it’s a huge lore drop, charecter interactions never explored.

As someone who quit genshin impact simply because there is no skip button (the game does not respect my time with all those dialogues), I will be really happy if they really improve the game. I might even return depending on the changes they do

As a Ex Genshin Player, and currently Wuwa Shill... This is great. I'm happy that they are improving the game and that 5.0 is a significantly better version. This is great for everyone, genshin players get a better game and Wuwa players/ future mugen, Nte Azur Lane etc players will have better games bc those games will have to get better to compete.
As for me. Idk I'm just burnt out of that game and don't know if after 3.5 years of being disappointed, if I have the energy to give it another shot. But still regardless this is a win for the genre as a whole.

2) I did take breaks. A lot actually. You can still be disappointed while not playing the game, that is possible. I haven't played on almost a year and I'm still disappointed there's not skip button.
3) I was still disappointed that it didn't improve as time went on the way I personally would of liked.

@@zephskiee5395 Taking breaks is overrated, it doesn't help at all, it builds further into the fomo setup the game has built - event exclusive weapons, 1 year+ long banner long reruns, low energy cap of resin, etc.

Kuro really gave y’all some watered down soulslike combat and some free standard pulls and y’all glaze nonstop 💀 wuwas open world still dead, bland and boring, quests are just as bad, the entire English dub is garbage AND they don’t make even close to as much profit. So what exactly did wuwa pave the way for? Here we go:
1. Weapon banner:
- WuWa gives you guaranteed the weapon of your choice after max 80 pulls (Pity). Standard and limited banner. In GI you get a weapon pity after failing 2 times. In the worst case scenario you need 3 times as long in GI as you need in WuWa and on top of that is:
- WuWa also carries over the pity from weapon banner to the next weapon banner. GI does this not and it is simply a extremely predatory and scummy as hell. (MAYBE this is part of the reason they do make less then GIthey don't treat their playerbase like crap with scummy and predatory features)
2. Exploration:
- WuWa has wallrunning
- WuWa has no stamina drain while running when out of combat
- WuWa has a grappling hook that makes exploration better and can be even used in combat
- WuWa has 3 crazy big lootmapper
- Ores are automatically collected after being destroyed and do not fly around
You said the world is empty in WuWa? You mean empty like in GI where you travel there 1 time and then you go never again there because the world is literally empty? In WuWa you have a reason to go back for echos all the time if you want. Such a weird, stupid and twistet take. Thematicly it makes even sense that the world WuWa is kinda empty (I prefer lonely) because of the post apocalyptic setting it takes place.
3. The story itself is a subjectiv matter so I don't go into details of them but we can criticize the pacing and oh boy is it worse in GI. GI dialogue feels like a student trying to hit the word count for an essay. Between paimon and others rephrasing what was said, pointless or run on sentences and simply uninteresting dialogue this was literally the reason why I has quittet GI especially considering the next point
4. WuWa has a skip button for main mission and side mission. GI has neither. Even if the story in WuWa becomes one day bloated like GI, we can atleast skip it.
5. The combat in WuWa is demanding, especially for a gacha game while GI combat is extemely casual, simpel and kinda boring.
6. WuWa has, same has Honkai: Star Rail, a storage system for your daily energy. So it isn't so bad when you can't log in some days.
Of course WuWa has also problems, mainly the performance on phones (lucky I play on PC) and localization errors.. But that's it.
PS: Both are gachas at the end of the day and should be fairly criticized but objectively speaking WuWa is definitely the lesser "evil" if you wanna call it like that. Be it WuWa, Azur Promillia, Arknights: Endfield or others upcoming gachas are welcome because this means competition and this is good for us, the player.

This is so fake. Everything Mihoyo does (or doesn't) is a thoughtful part of their long-term money making strategy (gacha companies care only about money, which is why they make gachas instead of normal games).. They held off any improvements in Genshin as a ready solution for when game starts to drop off, and to artificially promote their other games in comparisson to stale Genshin (like how they constructed HSR rise with "Genshin could never"). Now they simply started to use up saved retaining techs and improvements, and people ate that.

I still won't be returning, cause I think Natlan's way too pastel-y for my taste, and Pyro Archon's burning hair (as well as that fire torch) looks goofy ahh with the green highlights (why is the fire lemonade flavoured), but seeing this still makes me happy. There's a lot of reason to not like Hoyo, as more and more business-minded things they do come to light, but if they are actually listening to feedback to improve player experience, this is a big win for Genshin players. And I'm really happy for them.

i still get kind of excited with new genshin content, but as a veteran player, it’s a little difficult to still enjoy it.
I personally believe it’s harder to enjoy the story itself when HSR and WuWa have such interesting stories compared to the rather repetive stories of genshin, so i’m not sure if i’m still going to play it, but i’m happy for the people who are excited with the new updates and i’m curious to dabble with the new features myself!
on another note, it’s encouraging that they’re starting to listen, but i still feel like they ignored a lot of the “skin tone” drama. even though this topic has received a lot of mixed opinions, i personally still believe they COULDVE added a few more characters with a little darker of skin color, but nonetheless, i’m loving the character designs themselves, so, good luck on your pulls, reader.

Especially the Hoyo-style games. I wonder if once you break that trance and people actually pull themselves away from the game, if the reasons they left can actually be the motivation to come back.
Kinda like when you finally break a bad relationship. If you later find out your ex is doing better and in a good relationship you can genuinely be happy for them and have zero motivation to get back with them mostly because there is no emotional attachment anymore.

1. capturing brilliance is tiny wishing boost. basically we don’t have 50/50, but 55/45. That’s something, yes. But it really isn’t much.
2. sanctifying elixir. How often will they allow players to get 4 of these? You need 4 elixirs to craft one good artifact. I bet you it’s super rare and will still take a super long time to get the ideal artifact piece you want. (And real talk, once we level up that good artifact, subrolls will go mostly to flat HP and flat Def).
3. free 5*. Standard banner characters are mid (acceptably viable at best), but they’re generally outdated. Genshin giving players free outdated character is like receiving leftovers. Would be nice at least if Genshin added already a new 5* Standard character. But no, they’re giving us leftovers. fyi, HSR & WuWa give free LIMITED (NOT Standard) 5* characters that are actually high-tier characters. This genshin 5* selector thing should have happened already back in 1.x or 2.x updates. Not in 5.0
4. Weapon 5* fate reduced to 1. bruh, we should have had this since the beginning. Genshin devs bamboozled us for 3 past years with having to lose 2x before we get our guaranteed. Them reducing fate point to 1 should have been bare minimum YEARS ago. WuWa has no 5* weapon 50/50, and HSR has 75/25 or 70/30. How is Genshin better?

In my opinion they probably have been holding on to this a years ago the time people have been complaining about it. They just wait until there's a good competitor. Because on business perspective "why try to change something that it's not even a problem to begin with As long it still work let it be". FeelsStrongMan, as someone who has grown to hate genshin's PR, management and dev team ( still love the art, music and character designs tho ), it was a moment I was NOT expecting. But after having watched his entire speech, I'm glad and hope things get better for both Genshin and Wuwa.
Competition is necessary and not a bad thing. I just want both my fav games to just be the best version of themselves to give us the best time of our lives. Peace.
All I wanted is to hear them address the rerun problem (like maybe announce a 3rd banner??). A free standard 5* would've been great for newbie me, not AR57 me. What I want now is the chance to pull the characters that kept me playing the game at all. As it is I'll most likely have been waiting a year for Wriothesley and Zhongli by the time they run and a lot of people lose interest in games in less time than that.

Most veterans can agree on one thing, good changes but it shouldn't have taken 3+ years into the games life span to add QoL that most games had already or even their older sister game (HI3) already created. The devs absoluteley KNEW what the community wanted back then but they always for some forsaken reason refused to implement them or added them in a way that would just hinder the feature.
It only took 2 new hoyo games (One of them having ALL the genshin feedback already implemented day 1 and kept adding QoL), 3 shitty anniversaries, wuwas release, and the threat of three more open world gacha games to make them realize "Maybe we shouldn't just reward our players with 5 fowls and 10k gold".
That being said I hope this is turning point for the genshin dev team. I don't know if management changed, if some contracts were up (Apparently sony had a say in certain things back then??? Idk just some rumors I read recently), if it was the games public image getting worse compared to other gachas or if it's the release of more gachas competing in their same space. I do hope this isn't a one and done thing and they actually commit to this new path they have set during the stream.
The only thing I want now is a skip button, plsssss not everyone cares about lore. Some of us like me legit play for everything else except for, lore I don't care if they don't add the skip button to the archon quests I just want to be able to explore freely and my do my shit with out being bombarded with 30 paragraphs of world building bloated dialogue.
Honestly I wish people booed at the 5 star selector thing because why would literally anyone need a free standard 5 star character 4 years into the game, £ as much as i understand many players probably don’t have somebody from the roster but it would have been better if they let you pick one out of all of the limited characters too as an apology to the player base and a promise to improve and give back to players it’s so sad that players literally just settled for less.

It took just another game from another company THIS YEAR to finally make MHY "wake up" call on Genshin Impact. Its been four years, which they have PLENTY OF TIME & OPPORTUNITIES to improve what they have lacking in the game.
On a business perspective, I full understand that they need Genshin as the forefront money-making product to generate profit and revenue for the company and also to fund other games like HI3, HSR and recently ZZZ, but had they actually improved a lot in this game they wouldn't have to probably suffer a high player turnover rate. It really didn't how much of excuse they make, many have already left for another game regardless.

With now having their competition and that very competition kept getting more reputation. After all the better WUWA reputation goes the worse genshin reputation goes. There is no better comparison for genshin other than WUWA right now after all. They know they can't keep going in the same direction. If they keep going in the same direction the moment azure premillia and other good games release it will deal very huge blow to them. With their reputation already down the drain people will just go to better game. So before that happens they want to nip the bud before it bloom. For people still saying having competitors is bad for a game they r mostly still coping.
CONTEXT: Dawei received so much hate because of Genshin, even though he was NOT the decision maker. It was Cai Haoyu, the previous man who held and managed the production of Genshin Impact. This man was the reason why Genshin and previously Honkai Impact 3rd, before the leadership for that game was also handed over to someone else, got such meager rewards. People directed their hatred and criticism at Dawei as a person, calling him shabby, undiscerning, selfish and other hurtful words, even though he wasn't even in charge of Genshin Impact. Now the helm of production is handed over from Cai Haoyu to Dawei. From now on, we can hope for good changes. Dawei has started to take care of Genshin himself after the Fontaine story. He also said that they are taking a break, so the team probably wanted to take care of their mental health first. So it can be assumed that the current change announced in the livestream and the increase of the reward for the anniversity are his fault. Btw this video took place in Hi3rd Carnival.

The thing people don't realize is that Da Wei is only the face they recognize of Hoyoverse and blame it all on him. It's Cai Haoyu (Hoyo CEO) they should've blame. This is basically Hi3rd incident all over again. Da Wei took the lead of the Genshin dev team after Cai Haoyu step down around the time Fontaine finished
Ok, I didn't know about the speech from Da Wei. That combined with all the good news from the livestream, finally ignites a spark of hope for Genshin Impact after so long. I'm willing to give Natlan a chance and come back to the game.
