"John Wick with swords" sounds amazing
So John wick 3 lol
@@frankie8387 lol I mean, sure! 🤷🏾♂️
"John Wick with swords" tickles a pleasure zone. Yes, please!
He can just apply some of his Witcher sword skills
2026 it will be 40th anniversary of
Original Highlander
If he doesn’t get trained by a Scotsman playing an Egyptian wearing Spanish clothing then I don’t know if I can watch it
An Englishman playing a Scot.@eugenecrawford5828
Gonna be hard to beat the original. Awesome chemistry with Lambert, Connery, and Brown. It just worked even with Sean Connery as an ancient Egyptian..
This is a film that does not need more than one film
I'm very excited for this movie
Highlander is one of my oldest fanhoods. I am STOKED for Cavill to be leading this!
glad to hear any announcement on highlander. but it seems as if we've been waiting forever for any kind of movement.
The problem is you cant kill everyone in the first movie
Then where do you go.from there
Ok, I get why John and some people hate the highlander sequels, because of the alien explanation. With that said, the sequels are hated because the idea itself is bad or was it just poorly executed? Let's be real about it, if this will become a new franchise then at some point they're gonna have to explain why there are immortal warriors around and where they're coming from. So, if it won't be because of aliens then what can the reason be?
There's no direction to go in after the end of the 1st movie. That was the problem with the sequels. They didn't know what to do because the story ends pretty damn definitively in the 1st film. Personally, I'd expand that first film into a trilogy. There's so much they could do to enhance the story and lore. Just don't have the final battle until the end of the 3rd movie.
Highlander!!!!
The 1st 🎥 jumpd everything off.More a fan of the series I am.Havin said that,hope it does well.& I also hope a series follows
I want keannu Reeves to be the highlander, but Henry Cavill is great swordman in wicther.
This should have been the approach to the Witcher universe. Netflix really dropped the ball.
"Greatest movie ever made!!!!" - Ricky Bobby
Dude, Highlander: The Series, is one of my all time favorite tv shows. Seasons 2-4 or so where just soo good. The first season was finding its way and the last couple of seasons started to drop a bit, but the middle was SOO good. I actually liked the series more than the movies (all of them).
I think if the remake does away with "The Gathering" and just has the over all story be Connor fighting a major baddie, then that would work. You could then have sequels. Maybe whatever the last movie is they have that final battle.
I'm also sort of hoping they show an actual power-up. It never really showed in any of the shows/movies. Oh and maybe have the swords magically appear to them some how. Like maybe they need to do a certain spell or something to attach it to them, so when needed they can summon it.
Anyway super excited to see this. Henry has shown he can do sword play in The Witcher. Give us more of that and we are golden!
Man, Highlander The series was really amazing. Happy that other people still remember it with such love to this day.
I remember watching the TV show as a kid and growing long hair (im a guy so it did not exactly earn me any favors in school) and practicing with wood sword in my backyard. Good times.
@@Raivo_K Well, I am in my 40s and still have long hair! Ha,ha,ha,... And certainly Highlander, especially the tv series was one of the reasons (aesthetical influences) for sure. Also one of the reasons I loved "catana" swords and Japan. Great times. Take care...
" John Wick with swords." I can see that. He keeps getting shot or stabbed and keeps getting up...
Cavill will be on point
I can give only the first movie is amazing, I love the second one because was filmed in Argentina, but this new movie, even if is a remake from the origina, the idea is use part or the mitology from the series too, thinking like the whole franchisse: the movies and the series...I can't wait to see the new movie, hoping they don't destroy the Highlander legacy.....
This is a series that they need to figure out from the get go how many films there is going to be. The sequels suffered from having to explain why Connor had not actually won, and as terrible as it is, the second one made the most sense (cause he still technically won, but then more show up). This would be better to begin the series at the start of the gathering, have the antagonist be a strong immortal (but not the last) and then save the Kurgen for the final movie!
I don't think we get the Kurgan in the first movie. I think the Kurgan shows up in the third movie.
There is one called Connor among them!
Chad Stahelski really throw out Ghost of Tsushima for this, i feel sad
Same but also
The problem with turning this into a franchise is that the plot hinders you when it comes to sequels. Unless the new movie doesn't end with him being "the only one" like the original did. The best thing to do is to build up to the final battle in a 3rd or 4th movie with each one jumping through a different period in time I think.
It's actually easy to make it into a franchise. The first obvious is yeah - you start with the first movie being broken in to 2-3 films (4 would be pushing it), with the first likely covering a bit before and in to the early after parts of MacLeod found to be immortal, the second (if a trilogy) covering between then and modern day (everything with Heather namely, probably meeting Rachel), and the last being modern day and the final battle with the Kurgan. Though even if the film is a straight up remake - it's easy enough to expand by having movies about some of the other immortals that might draw interest (like Ramirez), or to play with some of the less awful ideas other things had after this or tweak the existing lore to expand things. So, let's say instead of a real update - we make this new film also take place in the 80's (which honestly I think would be better just cause the styles and all) and Connor wins in the 1980's. Come forward 20-40 years to more modern/actual present day, well, maybe it turns out that 'The Game' is eternal - Connor's won but finds that it just means he won that round, and a new batch of immortals is forming and playing, likely with some as bad, or worse, than the Kurgan. Which could leave Connor with a dilemma if he decides to get directly involved - let things play out, maybe train a new fighter like Ramirez did him, or give up his mortality and other abilities and become an immortal once again - reverting closer to how he was in the 1980's in appearance (since it'd only be filmed a couple years apart) and once again trying to make sure someone worse does not win. Perhaps when we meet Ramirez - he looks as old as he does not because of when he first died, but because he previously won other rounds, aging between rounds a certain amount that isn't fully reset when he renters and so he has gotten older over several thousand years (as opposed to 'the game' having been going on since at least ancient Egypt with random immortals appearing to interrupt ability to win every few hundred years or so) - possibly dating back to an ancient forgotten civilization which is why he knows the rules, and likely the basis for stories like Atlantis (and perhaps destroyed by the first winner or just a winner being someone like the Kurgan). Maybe even some of the old gods in pantheons were based on immortals that actually existed in previous rounds. Which can then open up movies about other rounds and the society that existed before.
It would be awesome if they got Adrian Paul to teach Henry how to use a Katana :)
It’s aliens!
Yeah Universal’s The Dark Universe. Javier Bardem was supposed to play Frankenstein and supposedly Angelina Jolie was supposed to play his wife In The Bride 👰♀️ Of Frankenstein.
@JohnCampea What did you think of “Highlander: The Series”?
Highlander the tv series was great and from a point further was even better than the movies... to my humble opinion.
@@beltenebrosgr1904 It’s super enjoyable! I love the first movie and the third as well. Endgame could have been better but it was nice to see Duncan along side Conner.
@@therobo-producer144 Agree completely with you, I just also honestly liked the second movie too! TV series had some amazing episodes with real "ethical dilemmas" which really made the series not only enjoyable but thoght provoking too! Take care...
I think there's a lot of promise in this. I always wondered when exactly Conner and Duncan met. Also they need to flesh out the Highlands of Ethiopia, which I kinda thought Sean Connery was supposed to be from. I wouldn't mind seeing the entire series end with Connor, Duncan, and Raven having to fight each other.
What people don’t understand is that John Wick is actually based off of Highlander do your research
... No it's not 😅
Where would we research this?
Marvel phase 1 was not planned
Dave Batista for the Kurgan
For those who wanna know why the sequels sucks, i recommend the spoony reviews!
I hope they don't feel the need to over explain the mythos. The was part of the charm of the 1st film. I have asked myself questions concerning, but please don't answer those questions. Everything falls apart
It's just going to be another POS reboot from Hollywood, but I'm interested to see it done with Cavill. I'm guessing the story is going to be stripped and redone with some other bullshit story. Then again, Highlander was never consistent to begin with.
love the positivity.. lol
