The holes on the bottom are not to secure it when in a truck bed but it's to strap down your cooler or pellet bags that you're storing on the shelf while you drag the grill around on uneven terrain.
I’ve owned this grill and cart combo for almost 4 years and it has been absolutely awesome. I’ve burned thousands of pounds of pellets and it just works. I did upgrade to the Wi-Fi board and it works good too, I love having both cook modes available, the pro setting really does create more smoke and flavor. Good product and the company stands behind them with great customer service
I appreciate your comment about the shelf not included. My issue is the design flaw of leaking lid and after you have spent $100 on the shelf, it gets messed up after one grill. Their solution is another $50 to fix the leak and keep the front clean. WIFI only works on 2.4Ghz; not listed on their site. For the price you pay, I'm not impressed.
Good job. Ihave the Silver Back with the standard base. I agree with your eval, you hint the highs and lows right on. My igniter went out and are going to replace it free.
Simple fix for grease collection in a can. Use something you can lean against the upper side of the grease chute (where grease slides down) with the bottom end IN the can. Once the grease comes in contact with this 'extension' of the chute, the surface tension of the grease will follow it all the way down. My first thought was a large plastic fork that spans the chutes width with the handle pointing down. This works for any fluid your pouring into a small area that you need to control where it goes. Provide a bridge for the fluid to run down. For cooking, any butter knife can be used to channel water or milk into a tiny bowl without the mess. For motor oil into a cramped area, use a long screwdriver that'll provide the bridge for the lobricant.
I've had this setup for about 3 1/2yrs. The only problem I've had with the cart are the wheels getting flat spots from not moving it around. It sucks when you have to move it.
I have the chimp, and love it's portability and size. Only improvement I'd like to see is a better base/leg design. However, it's efficient and a pellet sipper due to its size and double wall design. Some think it's small, add some extra racks or the jerky rack and it expands the grilling size for most items.... I find for my family and friends its size is perfect for most everything I cook, even large briskets, trimmed to fit. I opted to not upgrade to wifi, why leave a fire box unattended.... I leave mine in the rain too, but prefer to store in my kitchen! LoL I have had to replace with an updated keypad. Keeping it simple, making great food every time. And it takes forever to go through a bag of pellets compared to my former larger grill ... Agree on the shelf.... I added one too....
I have used a older Traeger for a few years. It was one of the first ones I had ever seen. I have only had one bad grilling experience, and that was honestly my own fault. I have even used it for Prime Rib with great reviews on my first try. My remark here is, it ramps from 10 to 20 degrees below and above my set temp, ( which smokes things very nicely ), so the PID would only be a benefit if I was baking on it, which I certainly do. This looks like a interesting grill.
You missed the coolest part of grillas new controller, the pause button. When you push the pause button, the pid doesnt read for 5 mins. This means if you are smoking chicken on a traeger and you want to baste it so lets say it takes 2 mins with the lid open, well the pid temp will be reading low temps and continually trying to feed pellets to get the temp right. This means you close your grill and you all the sudden have raised the temp 50 to 100 degrees until it can sort itself back out. If im smoking at 250, push the pause button and open the lid for two mins, the grill maintains the previous burn, so when i close my grill it has 3 more mins to build actual temperature before it registers and adds pellets accordingly
That is a cool feature! I’ve never really had issues with any of my pellet grills recovering or overheating much because of the lid being open for a little bit though. I’m not sure if ever utilize that pause button.
@@Heygrillhey you must not use the pid feature or ever leave the grill door open very long...it definitely causes overheating if you do...if you use the pro mode or "alpha smoke" it doesn't matter, because lip open or shut the temps are on a timer
@@Heygrillhey PID wise, how does it work? It reads the ambient temp, when that starts to fall from 225, it sends a message to the controller to feed a little more pellets...now imagine you left the door open for 2 mins...the pid probe is reading 120...130...it is sending pellets down the shute like we lost fuel...you close the lid and the fire pot gets heated up, it's way too hot so you hav3 a spike in temp until the fire pot is burnt down and it can go back to normal
Yeah, I understand how it works and why. It still doesn't change the fact that I don't think it's really that big of an issue. Certainly not big enough for me to remember to pause and resume the cook by pushing buttons. I'd rather it be slightly over temp for a few minutes than forget to resume the cook. You're also right about not using PID mode. I think PID is overrated and you'll actually get more smoke flavor with more frequent/larger temperature swings.
@Heygrillhey well we will agree on the pid, but definitely disagree on the swing if you don't select the pause while the door is open (if you are using the pid mode) pro mode it doesn't matter nearly as much(you also dont have to resume it, it does it automatically after 5 mins...to each their own though
Rectec! I have experience with both, and it’s not even close. I really wanted to like Grilla, but I’m not impressed with the fit and finish of their products. Also, reliability is another issue. My Rectec has been running flawlessly for almost 5 years. Buy a Rectec with confidence.
I really love the wheels on that pellet grill. The handle idea was awesome ,be great to just pull the handle👍. A very nice pellet grill. The only thing is the price its kinda high and what you said about paying more for the front shelf. And the welds could have been better. Great review on the grill.
Kinda disappointed in the direction this channel is taking. I subscribed for the cooking videos. It is now becoming commercials for the sponsors. Unfortunately this seems to be the way of TH-cam channels. Start out awesome and then go commercial. Too bad. Really enjoyed watching a pretty lady cooking really good food and getting ideas for my next cook.
We actually don’t have any sponsors, and we’re trying to vary the content to attract a larger audience and keep it entertaining. You don’t have to stay if you don’t want to but the videos you like will still be uploaded just not every single time.

This grill was a beast!

Thank you for the honest review
I'd like to see a review of the OJ's Rider DLX 900 and the Loco's Smart Temp Kettle Grill. Thank you.

The hopper lid looks warped.
What’s up with your shoes? Are those from the movie CARS???
They are. Lightning McQueen!
@@Heygrillhey I saw them and said are they what I think they are? And busted out laughing
My grease catcher did the same on my Grilla. Adjustment solved it.
reqtec or grilla in terms of overall quality and functionality? thx!
I’d probably take the recteq. It’s still built a little better!

Anyone had luck getting the wifi app to install on android, recently?
What? No BBQ Queen??
She was behind the camera for this one!! Maybe I’ll have her make cameos in the future reviews.
Iron your shirt!!🎉
Maybe next time.
The wheels are a little blingy for your taste…You’re wearing Lightning McQueen crocs dude…😂🤦🏻♂️
See any chrome on ‘em?
@@Heygrillhey they’re super subtle. 🙄
Loud, yes. Bling, no.
You left me behind at $1,100.
I can buy an entire summer's supply of meat and charcoal for that kind of money!!! 😂
Sure ain’t a Yoder!
Nope! The Yoder is built better but it still wont produce better flavor.
Imagine arguing over which easy bake oven is best 😂😂
