    All I needed was the picture at the end. Same result in cooking with more features for less money? The Grilla Grill is the obvious winner in everything besides cooking area and the dad test lol.

      can't compare price unless you compare the same size grill like traegers lil Tex.

    Thanks for the demonstration. FYI, I've personally used the Traeger for several years. Traeger makes a smaller version of the Texas, called Lil Tex, which I own. Visually, it looks the same size as the Grill 'n grill in video. It also is a comparable price to the latter.
    Thanks for the tip on using that coffee company.

    Jack, excellent video. I remember seeing the infomercial for the Traeger, and it said it was also useful for other cooking methods (i.e. baking, grilling, etc.). I'm just curious if the Grilla Grill is also able to perform these functions. I haven't decided which one I like better, and there are several considerations for me (including overall price). Thanks for producing a really great video, and if you want my vote for beard butter, I prefer good old fashioned hand churned butter; applied with a couple ears of corn on the cob. :-p

      @@JB-zd9bp how many smokes do you have on your RecTec? I have over 1000 in my Silverbac over the 6+ years I have had it. I finally had to replace the motherboard 2 months ago and all is back to normal. My grill has zero pitting of the grates,
      heat shield or any spot on the exterior. I found keeping the thermostat probe clean reduces temp swings, which mainly occur when you open the lid and allow heat to escape. Most folks are loyal to their smoker brand as long as it cooks their meats the way they like it. Remember, there are horror stories about every smoker on the market, and telling someone to stay with the brand you like is no different than telling someone to not use a particular seasoning/rub because you don't like its flavor. One man's trash is another man's treasure. I have eaten food cooked on most brands and in reality, there is almost no difference when using the same flavored pellets and rubs. Happy Smoking.

    Bought a Silverback last week after catching your earlier review. Given the $300 cost difference and all of the extras Grilla includes compared to the Traeger it seemed like a no brainier. Just wanted to thank you for saving me $300, I'd never heard of them before. They're a super nice company to deal with too, mine arrived with a borked controller, one quick phone call and replacement controller (along with some free rub and sauce) was on its way.

    I have to say something about your graphic comparison... you should have showed more detail, such as hopper size and for sure cooking surface as the Traeger costing more, it also has a larger cooking surface.

    • @LoQProductions
      @LoQProductions 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Traeger hopper = 18lb capacity
      Silverbac hopper = 20lb capacity
      Traeger Texas Elite bottom rack = 34" x 19
      Silerbac bottom rack = 26 x 19
      Traeger Lil Tex (same price as Silverbac) = 22x19

  • @tmcshuckers

    When comparing price the Texas is much bigger and you should be comparing to the lil' Tex it's more of the same size as the gorilla grill. I love my traeger, I've had my lil' Tex for 7years and if anything breaks on it they send the part for free

    What about pellet consumption between the 2 of them? I've been looking into a pellet smoker but don't want to spend a fortune, love my stick burner but don't always have the time or patience to babysit it. Looking at the new traeger grills but also leaning towards the grilla silverbac, help me decide.

    • @adamg2671
      @adamg2671 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I started with a small Traeger but I've replaced it with a larger Rec Tec (so much nicer than my Traeger). I'd say overall, I've averaged an hour per pound of pellets on both of them, but it can vary with weather conditions. If it's really cold or windy, you'll burn more than if it's 95, sunny and still.

    • @impulsepdr2175
      @impulsepdr2175 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      What Adam is saying is true. A larger traeger will burn the same pellets as a larger rec tec or (in my case) Pit Boss.

    • @kenlosey8282
      @kenlosey8282 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The question of consumption has the age-old consultant's answer: it depends. Again, my opinions are based on just what I've seen in 100+ reviews of various smokers, so feel free to disagree with my attempts to justify my Silverbac decision. The new Silverbac Alpha models have both a PID controller and their traditional Pro Smoke controller built in. PID's maintain a much more precice temp, which is useful for grilling and baking. But the purported downside to PIDs for smoking is that they use only the amount of pellets needed to maintain temperature. Less temp swings = less pellet smoldering at the periodic higher heat and therefore less smoke. Grilla's original Pro controller supposedly was designed to intentionally run hotter and colder in a wave to produce more smoke. That's great for brisket, but not necessarily for grilling steaks, etc. So the newest Silverbac Alpha has both controllers so you can switch between them. $50 more for the Alpha. So consumption for the Silverbac depends.

    Since both smokers use the same technology to provide the smoke and heat. It's exactly what I thought would happen. The difference is really in features and price of the units tested. I'm assuming you used the same pellets/flavors. Meaning the same manufacturer same type of wood. Why would the meat flavor be different?

  • @pbirdwel
    @pbirdwel 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Did you clean out the fire box before using them both? You didn't say. I find that's why it doesn't begin billowing smoke "in the first 5 min" as you said. Also the graph at the end is a little skewed since there is a traeger (lil tex or century depending on where you buy) sized the same as the grilla grill that's actually a little cheaper (599), comes with the below storage, cover, second (half) shelf, digital display, and you can buy a meat probe digital read-out to replace the temp dial, if you wish (two meat probe slots). I definitely saw what people were talking about down below with the ash all over the Grilla grill Brisket. It doesn't seem like the taste of it came through from your review, but still just doesn't look right...

    I'd like a beard butter. I also still use a 1920's Gillette double edge, and a straight razor, you might need to do some looking around to find double edge blades that you like, some are pretty aggressive while others aren't.

    5 minutes in and you finally start talking about the grills.

    The Chart isn't a fair comparison. Your comparing two different model of grills, so of course they are going to be different. you should have done a Grilla grills silverbac vs traeger century 22.

    on the silverback, why does it seem to have a lot of problems with the lid lifting after a few cooks?

    • @pcpros9489
      @pcpros9489 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      that problem is long gone with the new lids they came out with earlier this year.

    need to do Yoder vs Smoking Brothers

    • @michaelparsons541
      @michaelparsons541 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yoder wins everyday, but I guess it really depends on what you are comparing. The quality and durability of the Yoder is like no other.

    Jack how does a pellet grill really work? Does the pellets have smoke flavor? These grills are just for smoking not BBQ?

    • @airplane312
      @airplane312 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      To help you the pellets are actually hardwood sawdust compessed to make a pellet. The pellets goes down into the fired pot. It does give a hint of smoke favor(s). The pellets are hardwood. There different kinds of hardwoods some can be apple, hickory, pecan and many more including blended hardwoods. They are worth the to get one. Please do your research on the fits your needs.

    Cool stuff Jack! Personally I'd use either smoker. No competition in my opinion.

      well i suppose the beard company paid for the meat since they are sponcring the video?

    • @randylocrotondo595
      @randylocrotondo595 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's sponsored because Jack has been doing the show for years and has a lot of subscribers. Why would you knock him for that. If he reviews a product and it doesn't live up to what it says it's supposed to do Jack is honest and tells you so. I suppose you don't watch TV or listen to the radio because they have commercials. SMH 💩

    I would love to have one of the beard butters for husband. He always tries to grow a beard and ends up cutting it off because it looks scraggly. I''ll bet the beard butter would help. Thanks for the opportunity!
