I'm not exactly a drummer, but I do play drums when recording my own songs and demos and what I can tell you is: The drums should 99% of the time be louder than the cymbals, otherwise your beat will turn into white-noisecore. Also, when playing the hi hat you can play with just the tip of the drumstick instead of a bigger part of it. That will give you a more """staccato-ey""", clean and focused sound. Not always what you want but definitely important to learn :)
Drummer here! For rock and most other styles, it is true that you want the drums to be louder than the cymbals. However, in a lot of jazz contexts and possibly others, the cymbals are the backbone of the rhythm and swing, not the drums.
LOVE THE NEW VID MAN, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR INSPIRING ME AND HELPING ME THROUGHOUT MY GUITAR JOURNEY! ITS ALMOST BEEN A YEAR SINCE I STARTED GUITAR AND IM SO GLAD THAT YOUR CHANNEL HAS ALWAYS BEEN THERE FOR ME AND MY GUITARS! ( STRATS RULE) IVE ALSO BEEN FOCUSING ON MY VERY OWN ALBUM WHICH I COULD OF NEVER EVEN THOUGHT OF EVEN DOING WITH OUT THESE VIDEOS, thank you so much mikey please keep up the amazing work you do for all us musicians! ❤
I’ve kinda been pissed at you sometimes jealous of your opportunities but I’ve come to really miss your lack of negativity and just general positive attitude it’s infectious keep it going my msn
This is very inspiring because I'm a drummer and somewhat bassist and I desire to one day be as good as my friend on guitar so I learned a couple basic things on guitar and it's a very fun journey
Your vids inspire me to keep going with my music, I am teaching myself to play guitar I am going into my 2nd year and sometimes don't have the motivation to play, but ur vids alway encourage me so.. thanks :)
Shoutout to Mikey’s Chuck Taylor’s! The high tops! My dad had a pair when he played on the basketball team in high school. He wore them well into his adulthood. Way cool, dude. I don’t know about the current pairs, but his size 11’s were HEAVY! Always try new instruments! You never know where the inspiration and tenacity will lead!
As someone who has a lot of passion for music, but instead had to become a Doctor, your channel truly makes me smile, dude. I don’t know if you’ll ever read this comment, but, you give me hopes to pick up the guitars in the future once I’m done studying. So, thanks for that, man, and the video was dope as always. Keep up the good work, man!
I’ve played drums on and off for many years alongside Guitar and this video kind of reminded me that I need to actually buckle down and treat it as a learning Process the same way I would with Guitar. Instead of just noodling around and not progressing
Mikey I know this vid is about drums but could you do a tone tutorial and how you get yours. I love it. Idk if you did already and if so could you tell me what video? Thanks.
Hey man i will tell some improvements. First try to tune the drums untill they sound really good and put some blancket and pillows in the kick drum that is all keep practice love your videos!
So I’ve been playing guitar for about four years now But I got a Strat two years ago from a friend and then like a month later I got a drum kit also from another friend So it’s been fun learning two instruments at the same time Whenever I would get tired of guitar I would play drums But I think I got better at drums😂 Definitely recommend doing this
This ain’t tap dancing. Also you need to muffle the bass drum. Set the toms on right and level the cymbals out. The angle affects the sound. A 45 angle is still to much, it can change the sound and create wear on the cymbals.
noo, you don't keep up with the guitar, the guitar keeps up with the bass and the bass keeps up with you. actually nevermind you should do whatever makes you comfortable but traditionally the bass and drums are the heart beat of the song
Your dad never ceases to amaze with how versatile he can be when it comes to musical talent

Love the videos, its good to see a guitarist who tries new things and doesn’t only play blues

I get the jealousy, I wish i could have the same opportunities as him. He could probably make enough money as musician to live easy
This is very inspiring because I'm a drummer and somewhat bassist and I desire to one day be as good as my friend on guitar so I learned a couple basic things on guitar and it's a very fun journey

Mikey I know this vid is about drums but could you do a tone tutorial and how you get yours. I love it. Idk if you did already and if so could you tell me what video? Thanks.

The drum configuration looks morbidly uncomfortable
Edit: also stick to guitar man...drums ain't for you
hi
Pineapple
Please dont do that do cymbals. Please. That hurts me deeply. Cleaning them will remove cymbal and change the tone. Unless you like that I guess
You have ur ride to high
Bro that hihat is way to open
Well now get a double bass pedal, and become a metal drummer
0 views in five seconds, bro fell off

Day 4858688699494 of asking for a gear collection video
this hurt to watch lmao new players never have any technique so the look so freakin awkward on the kit
you should stick to being a riff junkie AKA the guy who bases his entire personality off of stuff Stevie and Jimi did
try piano
play drums barefoot
