This was the exact thing I was looking for this morning as we wanted to add "bumper" music to our morning work meeting. Worked exactly as you described! Thanks!
Thank you!!!! This was so useful! I want to create meditation videos and when I used youtube (videos) music, the sound was not loud enough and we heard some "wind noise" - do know how to explain it, but it did not sound good. I will try what I learned in your video. Thank you so much! :)
THANK YOU, i have been playing music out in my waiting area before start my meetings and it has been sounding so bad, not we get high quality music and relax until I start. Is there a way to share screen and computer sounds at the same time?
Yes, you need to make sure that you check the box before you hit the blue "Share" button that says "Share Computer sound". So you can select powerpoint or another program and then as long as you checked that box, you will also be sharing computer sound.
Hi @Tosha2059, yes you can speak over the music but I suggest testing it to get your music level (in whichever app you're using) to the right level. I often use Spotify or Apple Music and have found 10% or even a little lower volume in the music app is low enough to talk over.
@@loganclements So helpful! I'm using it for online yoga too but I am wondering if it would work running the zoom from my phone instead of my laptop? I couldn't seem to get it to? Thanks!
thank you so much! I play the music but then my voice fades in the background so i am not able to speak and have music at the same time, any ideas? I do guided meditations on zoom groups
You'll need to test this out with your microphone and the application you're using to play music. For me, I use Spotify usually and I have the volume in Spotify set to 10% and I can still talk over the music. This will differ for you based on the program you're using and your microphone set-up. I suggest recording yourself in Zoom and adjusting the settings.
Yes, but I highly encourage you to test your set-up to make sure your mic and music levels are at the right levels for your set-up. Here's a video I made on this: th-cam.com/video/vZFLBYlbGxc/w-d-xo.html

Will it just work on streaming music platforms or will it also work on TH-cam coming from a music video where I don’t want the video but I would like the music
What about am performing on zoom meeting, can use the same way to play background music while performing? And what about am playing music from youtube, and I dont want others to see my music?
Hi Jesse, it depends on what kind of performance you're doing. You can talk over the background music, but I've found some performers like to control that balance of the music and their voice/instrument so I'd practice recording yourself in Zoom to ensure the balance is what you'd like. If you're playing music from TH-cam, I would suggest downloading it so that you're not streaming it (and risk it buffering while live) and then play the music through a media player, iTunes, etc. If you're just sharing the background music, the attendees won't see your screen, just hear the audio from your computer.
@@loganclements thank you so much. I've come to realization that I need external microphone because I tried to sing, and my voice was very low because I was using computer mic.
@@Bisekoson Ok great, yes I would definitely recommend using an external microphone. This is the one I use for my podcast and videos: www.amazon.com/dp/B002VA464S/ref=twister_B09MT5MNM5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Yes, absolutely! As long as screenshare is enabled, you should be able to share computer audio only. If you don't see it as an option, check for updates to your Zoom software on your device!
When you share audio only, they'll be looking at the current or active speaker. If you share a video or file and check "Share computer audio," the audience will be looking at what you're sharing and hearing the music.
hmm I always Do this for my yoga classes. I started recording class lately, I lost music half way through last time on recording . I don't know why? wondering if its because someone came in late recording said recording in progress . it still said sharing but I think it got lost . could it have been the interruption ? I still heard in my AirPods .could not hear on recording.
Hi Lorianna, interesting. Yes, it sounds like when the person came in it could have impacted the music. Did the rest of the class confirm that they could still hear your music for the second half of the class? Another option is that you accidentally stopped screensharing the music. Since you're playing the music through your computer, you would hear it in your headphones but the attendees wouldn't hear it. If your students who attended live say they could hear music the whole time but your recording is missing it halfway through, then I'd reach out to Zoom support since it sounds like a glitch on the Zoom side.
My very best friend who participates in my personal hangout on Zoom has trouble learning how to add background music when we share music together, because doesn't know how to do it alone. My dad can give a few pointers.
Thanks, Logan. Very clear and helpful. Plan to use music along w readings of my books and poetry. Make it a production w presentations of artwork w sound. Are Zoom’s settings identical across Macs, PCs,Chromebook, Linux etc
Hi James, yes the Zoom side of things should be. I have found the different music programs you use (Apple Music, spotify, youtube, etc.) can have different levels into Zoom so I highly encourage you to test and record yourself to hear what your audience is hearing to find the right level on the volume inside the music program.
if i host an dance party onto zoom do I screen share to play my computers sound or do i just play music via spotify onto my computers audio i've never played music via zoom before any advice.
Hi Erin, I would suggest us this video to screen share the audio only from your computer so you'd be playing the Spotify playlist on your computer and screensharing just the audio into Zoom for your attendees to hear. That allows everyone to hear your music but keeps the focus on the live video of yourself and all of your attendees. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Hi liked the tutorial but how do I play music on my phone and use that sound on a zoom call. (Not through share option) whenever I'm on a zoom call and play music using my phone, the music sound can't be heard by other participants but they can hear my voice. This seems to be more of an issue on HP laptops. Have you or anyone found this to be a problem ?
Zoom is probably suppressing your music audio because it thinks it's background noise. If you go into your Zoom audio settings, you can turn on original sound (which turns off Zoom's auto-suppresion) and that should help balance some of your audio. But the most reliable way would be to share your computer audio only and share the music from your laptop/desktop
Yes, you can! You would follow the same process, you just would hear the audio on your end coming out of your headphones if you have them connected but attendees should still hear the audio in Zoom if you're sharing audio only via screen share
It shouldn't echo back from the Zoom side. If the attendee isn't wearing headphones, their computer mic might pick up the music and their voice and create an echo effect. My suggestion would be to use headphones to avoid this issue!
Hi Elroy, you should be able to play a TH-cam video while in a Zoom meeting, regardless of your device. You might need to lower the volume on the video in TH-cam to be able to talk over it in Zoom. Let me know if that helps!
Fantastic video - so clear and helpful! Can you advise on using a headset for mic while also sharing music? Any tips on this would be appreciated. Think guided meditation scenario - need some soothing background music AND a way to share my voice while not necessarily being right on top of my computer. Thanks in advance!
Thanks Natasha! It really varies depending on the mic/set-up you're using and the media player. I'd suggest recording yourself in Zoom and playing around with the different settings for both the music (volume in the music player) and your mic settings in Zoom. I had to do that for just figuring out my microphone and then I made notes on what my mic was set to for future use. That should help! If you want people to talk over your music, I usually have the music at 10% of volume in the music player (like iTunes, Spotify, etc.). It'll sound quiet to you but I promise when sharing it into Zoom, it's much louder but the only way to do it is to test and record yourself or have a friend hop in the meeting too to provide live feedback. Hope that helps!
If you're streaming your Zoom meeting to TH-cam, Facebook, or another social media platform, you will need to be concerned with copyright music. My suggestion would be to play royalty free music only (TH-cam has a great royalty free music library that you can download from). If you're just hosting in Zoom and not posting it publicly anywhere, you don't have to worry about copyright music!
I still need to know one thing? When I play my Spotify music when hosting a Zoom call, I need the client to be able to also hear my voice, like in a meditation. I can't find how to do that anywhere. Pls help!!!!
This is where the volume level in the music program you're using is so important. With my microphone I use, I usually have Spotify at about 10-15% volume. I also have another video on troubleshooting your audio in Zoom th-cam.com/video/vZFLBYlbGxc/w-d-xo.html

Hi Tiffany, Natasha also had this question. It really varies depending on the mic/set-up you're using and the media player. Hi Nico, yes you should be able to share music from TH-cam using this feature. As long as you're playing it from the same device you're using to host the Zoom Meeting, you would be sharing your sound directly into Zoom.
Hi Gus, as of right now, you can't screenshare music from your mobile device into Zoom. You will only see that option if you're using Zoom on your desktop. Hope that helps!
Great question, I'm going to look into this to test it out! My current suggestion is to use your desktop as that'll have the most controls available as a host.
I had this happen to me on an account that had "Multiple People screensharing at the same time" enabled. This is a setting in the backend from your zoom.com settings. I think Zoom disables it to avoid music overlapping. Click settings on the backend in Zoom.com and then search "Screen share" and the option should pop up!
Do you know if this works out for breakout rooms while groups are talking to each other? Or while you’re talking, would be the music be playing in the background?
Perspective or Timing is 'everything'...right? If I was an Event Planner or in a business where I was in charge of meetings, then all of what you shared would be very valuable info. I am 'filing' that away for a future possibility. I personally teach Spiritual Practices and simply need to have chill music whilst I'm teaching. And I believe I heard what I needed (although I don't remember my share screen being set up like that.) Could your content have been streamlined, perhaps. What I would recommend is just changing the title of this vid. That will do it. Namasté, Kevin (p.s. I teach Meditation to Groups & Individuals.)
Can you share audio music from iPhone zoom meeting? I am a fitness instructor & trying to use Yes!Go from my phone to my zoom meeting on my laptop (not a Mac). Any helpful hints??
Hi Carrie, unfortunately at this time, you can't screenshare music from your phone into Zoom. One work around would be to try to use the desktop version of your app. If you can only use the app, you can play the music on speaker phone and put that next to your computer speaker, just make sure you go into your audio settings in Zoom and disable "Background noise suppression" so it doesn't auto surpress your music.
The free version should have the background music screen share function. I'd double-check that you're using an updated version of Zoom. Feel free to book time with me if you'd like to troubleshoot: www.loganstrategygroup.com/
Hi Natacha, you might not be seeing this if you haven't updated your Zoom in a while. You can also learn how to do that in my video here: th-cam.com/video/TKg2C2itiB8/w-d-xo.html
Hi Sadiya, unfortunately at this time, you can't screenshare music directly into Zoom using your phone. See one of my other comments about a work around if you can only access music on your phone but can have Zoom open on your computer/desktop
Hi Manel, yes it should be available with the free version, just make sure that you've "Checked for Updates" so that you're using the latest version of Zoom. You can also learn how to do that in my video here: th-cam.com/video/TKg2C2itiB8/w-d-xo.html
Hi Dominique, glad to hear it worked but yes, one of the tips is to lower the level of the music in your music app (iTunes, Spotify, etc) to about 10% of the volume. It'll sound low to you but I promise it'll be bumping in Zoom. If you'd like to test this, either invite someone to a test session in Zoom to find the right volume for your event or if you just have yourself, you can test this by recording yourself in Zoom and then watching the replay
Hi GK, yes, even if you are muted and you are sharing background music, attendees will still hear the music you're sharing. I do recommend testing this first to make sure you're properly sharing the background music into Zoom.
If I am teaching a tai chi class and would like some background music - how can I do that without sharing screen which would mean people could not see me
Hi Bill, you can also share just the music - go to "Share Screen" and then click advanced and you can select "Computer Audio" and that way you could share the music during your class but also spotlight yourself so your students can still see you to follow along. Hope that helps!
Hi J, unfortunately at this time you can't share background music if you're only joining the Zoom from your phone via this screenshare method, it only works on desktop. I'll let you know if anything changes!

Great tips
Thanks Josh!
Thank you! :)
Wow. Thank you for sharing.
You're welcome!
Thank you so much!! You are a life saver!!

Can we do this on phone?
Great question, I'm going to look into this to test it out! My current suggestion is to use your desktop as that'll have the most controls available as a host.
I loved the way you explain things.
Go ahead 👍❤️

The option too share sound is greyed out when i select share computer audio under the advanced settings
Hi Tenzin, at this time, you can't share background music into breakout rooms but you can share slides: th-cam.com/video/NxjYlC93P_k/w-d-xo.html
Thank you
You're welcome, Wai!
Awesome. Thank you for this helpful video🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Glad you found it helpful!
Great advice!! This was really helpful
Glad, it was helpful Carlos!
And I believe I heard what I needed (although I don't remember my share screen being set up like that.)
Could your content have been streamlined, perhaps. What I would recommend is just changing the title of this vid. That will do it.

Thank you!!!
You're welcome!
it does not seem to work on the free version of zoom
The free version should have the background music screen share function. I'd double-check that you're using an updated version of Zoom. Feel free to book time with me if you'd like to troubleshoot: www.loganstrategygroup.com/
Hi, this option (advanced) is not avalaible actually. Do you know how I can do ? Thanks! 😇
Hi Natacha, you might not be seeing this if you haven't updated your Zoom in a while. You can also learn how to do that in my video here: th-cam.com/video/TKg2C2itiB8/w-d-xo.html

How to do it with mobile phone
Hi Sadiya, unfortunately at this time, you can't screenshare music directly into Zoom using your phone. See one of my other comments about a work around if you can only access music on your phone but can have Zoom open on your computer/desktop
Is it available in the free version too?
Hi Manel, yes it should be available with the free version, just make sure that you've "Checked for Updates" so that you're using the latest version of Zoom. You can also learn how to do that in my video here: th-cam.com/video/TKg2C2itiB8/w-d-xo.html
I found out how to do this but the sound was too loud for others thanks
Hi Dominique, glad to hear it worked but yes, one of the tips is to lower the level of the music in your music app (iTunes, Spotify, etc) to about 10% of the volume. It'll sound low to you but I promise it'll be bumping in Zoom. If you'd like to test this, either invite someone to a test session in Zoom to find the right volume for your event or if you just have yourself, you can test this by recording yourself in Zoom and then watching the replay
Hi Logan,
If I mute myself, will the audio I'm sharing still play for the participants to hear?
Hi GK, yes, even if you are muted and you are sharing background music, attendees will still hear the music you're sharing. I do recommend testing this first to make sure you're properly sharing the background music into Zoom.

If I am teaching a tai chi class and would like some background music - how can I do that without sharing screen which would mean people could not see me
Hi Bill, you can also share just the music - go to "Share Screen" and then click advanced and you can select "Computer Audio" and that way you could share the music during your class but also spotlight yourself so your students can still see you to follow along. Hope that helps!
Thank you Logan. Clear, concise and to the point: perfect!
Mam I'm your Big fan.🙂🙂
Thanks so much, Dipan!
QUESTION- How would it go of you are using your mobile for zoom and want to share music for your meeting? TIA
Hi J, unfortunately at this time you can't share background music if you're only joining the Zoom from your phone via this screenshare method, it only works on desktop. I'll let you know if anything changes!
@@loganclements Thx for the follow up. It might time to fork some moolah and get a new desktop :-)
