Just watched this video and realized we’re almost the same age, probably only a year behind. Your videography skills are exceptional and your outlook on life and travel parallel mine. I was in your neck of the woods last September and wish I had seen this spot as the geology had me drooling 😅. Because of medical issues I was able to continue with my travels as in 2018 I purchased a Dodge Ram Promaster 2500 and love it! Solo female traveling rocks.

Camping has a multitude of locales, many ways, methods, and goals. Go for the trips that meet YOUR wants and needs. I’m 86 and still organizing week long canoe trips. Our Geezer Run has been going a bit over 30 years now. And, I’m STILL the only one that tells true war stories around the fire! Darned other guys tell tall tales. (That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.) One or another of the guys brings along a dog. They just may be the only one in camp who tells the real truth around our fires? Ahem! Did I ever tell you about the time that Paul Bunyan wandered into our camp? Well, pull up a log and have a seat. Ya see, we were . . . . . . . . Courtesy of Half Vast Flying

I'm only 42 but I got hurt on active duty so I have some limitations to work around. I wish there were more people making videos about camping with limitation. Camping can be life saving. Just getting away to come back can completely change your state of mind in a positive way. I have to drive in to wherever I go but I've found enough tips from "old" people that I can actually go. I know I'm not the only one too so thank you.
You are very welcome Franny- Perhaps you could consider starting a You Tube Channel- Trust me- if I can figure it out you can too. There are many tutorial on you tube itself. the I how I learned the little I know.
It was lovely to see Hornby through your eyes, Wendy. Thanks for this. My partner and I camp exactly where you were camping on Hornby, almost every summer. It’s a heavenly calming place. Another positive for camping in the off season on Hornby, is that fires are permitted, but as summer progresses, fire are prohibited.
My husband started trail running- hes up to 50ks.. and has now roped me into them (just did my first 10k - mostly walk but still putting in the work!) and my 75 year old dad has started to join us. We met a man in his early 80s who uses our running club to get out and hike. Lots of people on the trail to keep an eye out and assist if needed. You still get to explore but have "safety in numbers" but still a lot of alone time. Even though I am usually dead last, I love them. Because there are such longer distance (5k,10k,20,50k usually - even 100 miles sometimes!) cut off time is usually late afternoon - so even if you are slow like me, you can get out there and not worry about pace you can't keep up with. Wow, I have never met another woman Who camped by herself! I go on some remote, off grid property on the South Park plateau area in Colorado. I've been doing that For 20 years. Most people think I'm crazy. Became disabled about 2 years ago so I haven't been up there except for just twice last summer to check on the property by myself. However, this friend of mine took me up there last month. The snow was perfect! The snow cap mountains were unbelievable! Snow and bright sunshine everywhere and it was warm! I just found your channel. Looking forward to watching more videos.
My first and foremost is your safety. To each its own .when our children were young we camp a lot my age now I love my plush like 5 star hotel bed. TAKE GOOD CARE
What an inspiration you are. I'm 75 too and it seems when I'm out in my MoHo I have complete freedom to have ice cream. It's almost a duty to enjoy myself. Well its good enough reason for me. Take it easy but take it anyway.
Thank you so much for sharing your adventures. You are very inspiring. I watch your videos when I exercise on my elliptical and it makes my workout so much easier. I am 54 and I love hiking but I work full time so in practice I hike mostly during vacation. But in order to do it and enjoy it I need to be in shape. Elliptical helps although it is a chore. But so much easier with your videos. Thank you so much.
I've stayed on Hornby in just about the same place! Loved it! You're making me want to go back, in my good, ol' truck camper. I've been solo camping for many years, I don't ever regret anywhere I've stayed. Us retired gals know how to rock it! Best wishes!
Wonderful! Loved everything about that adventure! I retired to Arizona but lived 70 years in the PNW. My favorite place to boat, sail, or visit by ferry is the Canadian Gulf Islands. Scenery can't be beat! Now I'm all nostalgic. ☺️
Safety first is not empty words. Particularly in outdoor adventures. It is important to have enough sense to stop or even turn back. Often people think they can just push it through. After all these years still working on that one.
That ended up being a great trip. I haven’t been on a ferry since I was a child. It’s on my bucket list. Always love your adventures and those islands were amazing. I like the off season- nothing like having a beautiful place to yourself. Amazing scenery, thanks for sharing
Watching from Australia. You came in my feed this morning. I cant camp due to my disability and alone so I love watching peoples adventures on youtube. I call them my armchair holidays. Look forward to watching more. This one was amazing. Thank you beautiful lady for sharing your adventures with those of us who cant explore in person. Safe travels ❤
Hello Wendy from Austrailia. I am so happy to be able to give you a few moments of time away to enjoy nature and thank you for your well wishes for safe travels. I will enjoy knowing you are coming along.
Greetings from Australia, wherever we are in the world getting out into nature is so good for the spirit. We have a RV and love exploring & hiking & most importantly having fun. Love your videos and attitude to life 😊
Hi Wendy, you are a fantastic lady i can see that. I really enjoyed your videos, watched 2 so far. I too love the outdoors, breathing in fresh air, watching Gods creation is so wonderful to me. A big hello from New Zealand!. 💜💜
What a great visit with you today. I'm kind of close to your age and I love to go camping and exploring. I finally retired about 4 years ago and so wanted to do an easy no build-build in my old cargo camper that my son, Luke, didn't need. But I have a few irons in the fire, so I'll watch you for now until I can also travel and enjoy . I sure appreciate you sharing your videos and I will continue to watch. From Central Oklahoma.
Good luck with your build. Do you ever watch @girlinthewoods ? She has built many things over the time I have followed her. She lives in Michigan I believe. In the meantime, I am so pleased to have you along.
What a beautiful day, right in the middle of that majestic nature! Glamping seems to be really nice! I have upgraded to a tent cot from a 3-man tent. It’s very comfortable and just right for me. I also try to include ice cream when camping. Loved your vid. New sub.
Dear Wendy Oh I wish I was there with you! So very beautiful! I was in Vancouver BC and on Vancouver Island back in 1988 and I loved it! I wish you many more wonderful trips and all the best. Greetings from Switzerland. Barbara 😊
I think it's great to be willing to flex and make a change if the weather's not promising. You had a nice hike plus enjoyed glamping in your van. Plus enjoyed a chocolate ice cream bar with almonds. What more can you ask? Jenny
I am just so impressed watching you in action! Great filming with you having to walk back to get your camera, and “Two old girls together”is a great line! ❤
That beautiful cold, blue water! I just loved your views. Thanks for the privilege of sharing it with you. It looks like a wonderful place to walk. The eagle couple was a precious shot. I love this time of year where the sun warms you on one side while the other side chills.
First time to watch a crazy 75 year old TH-camr out enjoying the outdoors. And wow what a treat. Through your lens you gave me a glimpse of a beautiful part of the world. The backcountry can wait.......!
Another great trip into the natural world, different from all the others so far. I'm taking notes, wondering how and where I want to travel the next time I'm up your way. I also appreciate traveling during the shoulder seasons, when there is more space and quiet and fewer distractions from people.
Great to hear! I like Denman Island too although I didn't stay there this time. Lots of amazing artist on both islands to visit. Also Denman Island Tea co makes amazing teas which are now my go to teas.
If you ever get the chance to go visit the PCT in Wash it is my favorite hike out of all the major trails.Goat rocks by White Pass and the entire Cascades are amazing and if you go when the berries are ripe it's even better. You are not to far from the north end of the PCT nice country I almost moved there .
Hello from my homestead in northwest Florida! I'm glad your channel popped up in my recommended videos. I love camping, I been on a new journey for awhile but one of these days I'll get back to travel and camping. If you get down this way be sure to look me up. I have a tiny farm and am about an hour from the gulf beaches. Your video reminded me I need to plan to get back out there to enjoy camping! Thanks!
Hi. First thought. If you ever campfire cook I wonder if a gasification wood stove would be a good cooking item ON TOP of a Dutch Oven? Two. I am an active senior of 63. But now love my ebike more than my others. So, I want to build an e-hiking cart for people like us. My big issue is I live in an apartment. Do you or your viewers have any ideas?
thanks for your comments Michael- I have no experience with a gasification wood stove myself but perhaps some one else does. Building a e-hiking cart sounds like something that could be useful for others. Perhaps it has to be easily disassembled to meet your needs- I hope some on can suggest something useful for you.
My husband and I just returned from a two-week Bucket List trip to Vancouver Island. What a gorgeous place it is and what a treat it must be to live there full-time. Thank you for your enjoyable and informative videos, Wendy, including this one of Hornby Island. Keep adventuring and keep sharing your videos with us!
Wow. I just found your channel I am almost 75 but unfortunately have arthrisis, have has both hips replaced and now waiting to have my knees done. Up until a couple of years ago I went on extensive kayak trips on Lake Superior, and have kayaked all through the North Channel of Lake Huron. I have solo camped a few ttimes and frequently think about doing it again. What holds me back? Fear of being alone, fear that I could find I am unable to get out of my kayak to set up a camp. Although I have the camping skills, when a good stretch of weather comes I find reasons to stay home. I so envy that you have the confidence to go alone and I am looking forward to watching your videos.
Hi Carol- there are many things that can hold us back and sometimes it is the right thing to do. Perhaps after your knee surgeries are done and you are more mobile without pain you may consider something that is suitable and fun for you. One doesn't have to go it alone to have a great time. I also go with others and still enjoy the wonders of nature. I wish you great success with your health.
I share a lot of your interests in outdoors - and enjoy your posts. Thank you for sharing. A friend and I just did a lovely kayak trip on Wallace Island in late June, just a 40 min paddle from Salt Spring so very easy to get to. It has a small campground at one end, a unique history, and several lovely islands to tour around close by. Maybe you've been there! I solo camp but mainly in my wee 18' trailer with the odd tent trips like to Wallace. My husband passed away a year ago when kayaking in Mexico (heart attack), and I'm determined to keep at these things I love. You are a great inspiration for me, thanks again!
You are an inspiration for sure Janice- I have been to Wallace Island and loved it. Bob and I went when we were kayaking about 8 years ago. I think we were there 2 times. Loved it. I so admire your spirit to just keep doing what you love.
I’m 71 and just starting on this. Bought my first campervan a year ago. Go camping once a month with a group. Loving it and watching videos like yours inspires me. My fridge only has a small icebox so I recently added a small fridge/freezer. I can now take my ice cream with me🍦 😋. Watching from Australia. ❤
Ice cream- an absolute must at some point in the journey- I often find a way to stop during or on my way home to find some. My reward for the work!!! I have a little freezer in the van but if we are on the move it is hard to keep the ice cream well. but if in one place - yes!!!! thanks for watching from Australia.

Thank you so much.
wonderful- Happy they help out!
I love that you've got a small backpack on your hike, always remember your "10 essentials "
thanks Lori
I've stayed on Hornby in just about the same place! Loved it! You're making me want to go back, in my good, ol' truck camper. I've been solo camping for many years, I don't ever regret anywhere I've stayed. Us retired gals know how to rock it! Best wishes!
Thanks Pat- that is awesome!
Thank you, Wendy! I just found your channel and subscribed! Love your sharing and refreshing reflections ♥️🌟🙏🏼🤗🌹
You are so welcome. thanks you for subbing Anne- thanks for coming along
I had a big smile on my face from the start until the end. Thank you Wendy for this moment.
so happy you enjoyed the little trip away.
What a great trip.
turned out to be great for sure. thanks Kathy
Wonderful! Loved everything about that adventure! I retired to Arizona but lived 70 years in the PNW. My favorite place to boat, sail, or visit by ferry is the Canadian Gulf Islands. Scenery can't be beat! Now I'm all nostalgic. ☺️
We are very fortunate to live in this most beautiful area.
I do what you do…..just go! I’m 68, loving life.
wonderful- It is a great feeling to be just doing it!
P.S. I appreciated the map and you pointing out the different areas.
thank you. I will show another map tomorrow when I go out. Appreciate your comments.
A delightful video! Yes, we must be adaptable and eat the ice cream bars! Thank you so much for taking us with you.
😂- absolutely- tough Job!!
Safety first is not empty words. Particularly in outdoor adventures. It is important to have enough sense to stop or even turn back. Often people think they can just push it through. After all these years still working on that one.
Hello Vlad- I too continue to struggle with these decisions at times however I think I am slowly improving. lol-
Best part of that whole trip .... the ice cream bar. Makes it all worth while. 🙂
totally! Nothing like ice cream to top off great day.
That ended up being a great trip. I haven’t been on a ferry since I was a child. It’s on my bucket list. Always love your adventures and those islands were amazing. I like the off season- nothing like having a beautiful place to yourself. Amazing scenery, thanks for sharing
Thank you Wendy, I so enjoy seeing your part of the world.
I am very fortunate to have a wonderful environment near by

Oh thank you! Such very kind words indeed
❤❤❤❤❤
New sub.
thanks very much Brad and welcome.
Dear Wendy
Oh I wish I was there with you! So very beautiful! I was in Vancouver BC and on Vancouver Island back in 1988 and I loved it! I wish you many more wonderful trips and all the best.
Greetings from Switzerland. Barbara 😊
Hi Barbara- such a diverse group of wonderful people watching. I feel very honoured. thank you.
I think it's great to be willing to flex and make a change if the weather's not promising. You had a nice hike plus enjoyed glamping in your van. Plus enjoyed a chocolate ice cream bar with almonds. What more can you ask? Jenny
Absolutely! thanks Jenny
I think Vancouver Island has to be on the bucket list- shoulder seasons for sure. Thank you for the inspiration Wendy!!
You are so welcome!
We love coming along for the ride Wendy ! Gorgeous scenery on the west coast ! Greetings from beautiful Cape Breton Island in the east.
Awesome! Thank you Bonnie- Happy to have you along.
I am just so impressed watching you in action! Great filming with you having to walk back to get your camera, and “Two old girls together”is a great line! ❤
We old girls enjoy company! thanks for your comments
Love it and will share!
thanks you. I enjoy doing this .
You are very welcome. You are a role model on how life can be great. Best regards, Barbara
thanks Barbara
Amazing scenery. Love your van. Glamping is my kind of fun.
love it all!! thanks Nina
That beautiful cold, blue water! I just loved your views. Thanks for the privilege of sharing it with you. It looks like a wonderful place to walk. The eagle couple was a precious shot. I love this time of year where the sun warms you on one side while the other side chills.
Thanks Syl-Vee- It was a fabulous day for sure.
NICE camper van!!!! Thanks for taking us along!
Thanks for watching!
First time to watch a crazy 75 year old TH-camr out enjoying the outdoors. And wow what a treat. Through your lens you gave me a glimpse of a beautiful part of the world. The backcountry can wait.......!
there are a multitude of ways to enjoy Nature for sure- Its all good.
Glamping IS a good time! 😃
You got that right! Got to embrace it'll.
If you ever get the chance to go visit the PCT in Wash it is my favorite hike out of all the major trails.Goat rocks by White Pass and the entire Cascades are amazing and if you go when the berries are ripe it's even better. You are not to far from the north end of the PCT nice country I almost moved there .
sounds wonderful Gary. Quite a challenge. I have watched videos of folks who did it all or in part- very beautiful.
❤ love your style . So at peace with your self ❤
thanks Sharon- realistically I am a lot of the time but I do have my moments!!🫨- lol
Thanks!
thanks Maggie for the invite. One never knows!
Keep adventuring and keep sharing your videos with us!
wonderful- so happy to hear you had a great time- I do feel I am very fortunate. thanks for watching
Thanks so much for sharing, Wendy! You brightened my day!
Great to hear from another grandparent. Thanks for the message.
Glamping is a great alternative when the weather isn't quite right.😊
It really is or even if you just want to!!! 😆Variety in life is wonderful. thanks Marilyn
❤❤❤…smile…thank you!
thanks a lot. 👓
You are such an inspiration!
thank you very much.
Love this! You are such a source of inspiration, Wendy!
thank you Beverly- much appreciated
Thank you for sharing such lovely places which you enjoy! Glorious weather blessed you. Stunning scenery.
thanks for coming along- It was a fabulous day for sure.
Wow so beautiful place
It was also a fabulous day which really brought out the blues in the water. I just loved it.
Thank you for yet another delightful video M'lady. Stay well & safe. 😀😀😀
Thank you. You too Seamus
@@wendyoutdoors2230 Stay well & safe 🙂

Thank you Debbie.
Your channel brings me so much comfort 🥹💚 Thank you for sharing your adventures! 🌲☀️
thank you very much.I am so happy to hear this brings you something so positive.
Very enjoyable, thanks for sharing.
Thank you too Virginia
