    I believe it has an anti reverse switch underneath the line spool.

    I can’t speak for the TH-camrs, but the reason I wear one glove is to help stop braid cuts, which happens a lot when you land a bull or blacktip at the jetties. It is definitely not a fashion statement.😂

    There's a lever under reel. Switch it the other way. It will stop it from doing that.

    Thank you for sharing your casting session. I've been to a couple of Nick's Saturday practices. If you show up with spinning gear he will likely have you put the weight on the ground and stand next to it. His technique requires using both arms to push and pull. Well worth the time to learn. But Pendulum casting can also be effective.

    I'm new to fishing 🎣 I purchased 30 to 80 dollar poles from Walmart... an added 35 to 50 dollar reels rated 5 stars on Amazon. I got lures 4 to 5 stars I kinda hope to catch something this week.

    November is prime Croaker season. I love to bake them whole in foil, some of the flakiest white meat your will ever taste. Great video buddy. Try setting your monster rod with a half a whiting and send it our a few hundred yards on your drown!! That would be fun.

    If u want distance in a cast I would def invest in a better rod itself. Doesn’t have to be a 300$ breakaway or anything but spending about 80$ to 170 ish on day like a daiwa, tica, or okuma rod And pair it with a budget reel i guaurantee you will have more success. I can tell from the video that the the amount of weight you are throwing is causing your rod to wobble after you release which in turn will cause you to lose distance because the rod doesn’t not load up correctly and propel the bait. No need for an expensive reel but u have to remember with a spinning setup it’s the rod that does the work on a cast. Not saying I’m a pro just learned from my mistakes. If u watch those guys who can cast to the third bar while standing on the sand there is almost no movement in their rod after they release to cast.

    • @texasbeachbums
      @texasbeachbums  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea I noticed the rod wobbling as well. I mainly bought these as a test to see if I would even like using a 12' rod. I do so I am going to be looiking at netter rods soon. Thanks for watching

  • @roelperez4296
    @roelperez4296 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    In my opinion I would start with a smaller weight to get the hang of throwing it first and get the leader close to the top of the pole before throwing👍🏽

I go in till my waist I’m hoping to be able to stay on the sand and cast as far. I have 80lb gray on my 12 footer I don’t have luck either but it’s hell of fun fishing and looking like I am a pro lol. Btw. The fish was a crooked

    How does the reel on that Blue Runner hold up? I've got the size 50 and the size 60 of that reel and they are quite wobbly when under a heavy load. The reel is twisting back and forth side to side on the neck. I'm afraid the thing is going to twist off and break.

    • @texasbeachbums
      @texasbeachbums  ปีที่แล้ว

      Did not hold up at all. Looking for better

      @@texasbeachbums ok then. Sticking with my Daiwa Eliminator reels that are aluminum frame construction. Great reels. I just wish they were 5 2 1 on the gear ratio instead of 5 7 1. Too much rod pumping with that faster speed.
      The Blue Runner rods are perfect for tight budgets. But they eventually fail. My 8-foot spinning rod stripped out on the reel seat where I couldn't get the collar to stay tight. My stepson's snapped just above the middle on the top half by just lightly bouncing it around to undo a snag during our pier fishing trip. I hear this loud crack behind me and I thought he snapped his line. Nope! Luckily I still had the stripped out rod out in our garage so we put that top on the remaining bottom of his to make a complete rod. So far so good. But I'm sure eventually that will break too. Crazy is he landed a 22-in striper with that same rod the year prior.
      Thanks

  • @castclubmike
    @castclubmike ปีที่แล้ว

    Definitely hit up nick from breakaway tackle. Work on technique and get a more serious setup. You could hit 100yards easy with a good technique. Look up bait sliding you could slide some of them big croakers. Bait sliding allows you to cast just the sinker getting massive distance. TH-cam pendulum casting. Checkout some of my 200 yard casting videos if your interested.
