I also reserved Pure model in 2021 and upgraded to Touring 2023. I just received my Air Touring 2 days ago. No regret upgrading to Touring. I love the car!

I did the same with my Model S Plaid. -59K for a 1 year old car with 4k miles and FSD/21" Arachnid. I mean I know cars depreciate, but 60k in a year is just ridiculous. Oh and it was fully PPF'ed to boot, so throw another 7k on top of that. Some good deals out there if you shop around. I wish the MSP had the interior of the Lucid, fantastic interior appointments

Dave, I can plug my Tesla into a Supercharger. You know what a pain owning a non Tesla EV is. Until all EVs are integrated with access to Superchargers, I will only buy a Tesla. I was going to buy a Lucid Air, but didn't for this reason. Love your channel!
Electrify America will charge Lucid much faster than any Tesla can ever be charged

There are other charges available too. I’ve been seeing ChargePoint+ and EV Go.
Since Tesla is pretty much dominant EV car right now, I can see why the charging stations are more available.
Gotta say: that is one quiet ride! You remind me of my wife who always tells me how much she has *saved* us… with her latest purchase. A couple of days ago, I heard that Lucid is planning to lay off 18% of its workforce. Sounds like some tough times ahead, and I hope service for your latest car won't be affected!

Hi Dave, talking about service model, yes with these new tech cars, very important. My 2023 Ioniq 5 has never been able to fast DC charge since I took delivery in Oct. 2022, going in for fifth attempt, they are replacing the VCMS module on April 6th, I sure hope that works. Here in Canada consumers have no protection from Auto companies that sell you a lemon and are not able to repair the car. Lucid is only EV, so problems that surface should be more readily repairable as their Technicians are only trained on EVs and have the knowledge of complexity of EV service.
I really had high hopes for Lucid. They have great technology, but I think their strategy did not work out. It is not a good sign that buyers who paid a lot of money for cars are getting rid of them so quickly and taking a huge loss on them. I have a feeling that the company is not going to stay in business for too long. Best hope is that you’re acquired by some other company and their technology lives on. I was hoping that Apple would buy them out.
The guy that sold Dave his car sounds like a rich guy who like Dave, goes through cars. I’m not ready to write Lucid off just because one guy didn’t like his car.
@@treads2595 true. However, what is more worrisome is the number of unsold cars that seem to be sitting in the loser parking lot and the come continual ratcheting down of production targets.
Tesla didn't become successful overnight! About 16 years to be exact!
So the Saudi Public Investment Fund holds 61% of Lucid, they are fine burning cash. Yeah they do have the technology for sure, curious to know what's their business model, are they going to follow Tesla by having this expensive one first then make a cheaper vehicles.
@@mohammad_alnasser you are right. Saudi PIF fund is almost bottomless. 1B is nothing to them. Lucid will produce cheaper variants once their Giga press goes online and their AMP factory fully operates. I can see smaller version of Lucid air and Gravity coming later

Dear Dave, I love your videos. The prices are ridiculous high compared to Mercedes or BMW. Here in Switzerland, the prices aren't out yet for all models. But I can tell you that the Grand Touring costs here 190 000 Swiss francs versus $ 138 000 in the US. I put an order in for the Pure a year ago which will probably cost more than CHF 100 000 for the base model. I have my doubts. I won't even get a head-up display, only the metal roof and no fancy line keeping assist. I don't know if that is going to work for Lucid. I can get a used Mercedes EQS 450+ for 90 000 Swiss francs.
I also wonder about the Faraday futures f1 of whatever its called. Do you think that is a glorified minivan, or is it an electric version of a Bentley bentayga?

Yup. Works great! Just wish I could turn on the heated seats and heated steering wheel in the am when preconditioning the cabin before I start my commute
We love our Y with FSD. The only thing I would change is a softer ride. I can not see paying 2x the price for a car that might not be serviceable in a few years, no matter how well appointed.
Where did you check people selling the car? Any specific site for Lucid?
I checked all the usual sites that sell used cars
I’m not in the OOS Dave tax bracket (yet!) but here’s my plan:
I’m leasing a Model 3 standard range. Getting into the Tesla ecosystem, getting used to it, all good. in 36 months when that lease is up I’ll have a choice: buy a new Tesla Model 3/Y or buy a used Model 3 which all the accessories I’m buying to protect this lease (floor mats, etc) will swap right into and it’ll have a heat pump, LFP (less worried about degradation with that battery type, but time will tell), etc. I almost pulled the trigger on a used 2019 Model 3 but leasing a 2023 was cheaper (albeit a worse investment as I own nothing in 3 years) and I’m banking on the Highlands upgrade being popular and the Cybertruck being popular so the 2021-23 Model 3’s will all be coming off leases and be a bargain ($30k range) in 36 months. I can basically slide right into a comparable Model 3 for no more of a monthly payment at that time. Hopefully. And I’ll be making more money (thanks inflation, lol!) so it’ll be “cheaper” really.
Then I’ll retire in 15 years, my 403(b) will be worth a bundle (100% invested in a S&P 500 index fund started at day one of working in 2001 with $2 for $1 matching… it’s the best money move I’ll ever make!) and I can buy my own Grand Touring 2038 model as I retire to Tennessee or Texas or wherever there’s less snow and more freedom (but I digress!)

Great to have a plan! I think you should have a dark horse in the race within 3 years, the Model 2 may be out by then. I have my MY Rwd LFP, so I’m planning to keep this car for 8 years or more. Before this one I changed cars like Dave….fun but expensive.
If the cars are so awesome, why aren't they selling more? And why does the stock price keep dropping?I bought some last year and lost money. A lot of money.
I also think it's crazy to buy a $100,000 car from a company that might go out of business before they bring out their next model. It's a pure luxury item and when the wealthy have concerns about the economy, they can wait on these decisions. Fingers crossed for you Dave.

The Saudi public wealth fund owns the majority of Lucid stock, they'll be around for awhile with those deep pockets to prop them up.

@David Conner what are your thoughts about these three things... Faraday Futures stock, Mullen Automotive stock, and the pre-ipo of the electric battery maker out of Korea?I don't remember which one. I loved the idea of Lucid.i lost money on the stock unfortunately. Will electric vehicle companies outside of tesla survive in a few years...or will the fact that every major vehicle manufacturer is producing their own electric vehicle since tesla proved the concept and was successful, eventually over saturate the market and eventually kill it like a passing fad? Was it the likelihood of succeeding by investing in the new ev vehicle startups?

You got a great deal, but it’s sad the original owner had to take such a great loss on a luxury car with under a thousand miles. After nearly a month of driving a Lucid GT, I can assure your subscribers that it has significantly more luxury than my Tesla LR.
But, with all of its quirks, the grand touring is not worth $155K. When picking up an EQS580 in Naples, FL, the dealer had a previously owned GT on the sales floor and it was headed to auction the following day because no one was interested.

Not exactly good news for Lucid. Why would anyone buy a new one and, unfortunately for them, they lose a crazy amount of money selling at MSRP to begin with.
It's a sedan. People don't want Sedans and SUV out sells these by a huge amount. Lucid made a mistake building a Sedan.
Thus car list more value than any other car I know, that's not good
Sadly they are likely to be out of business soon. The market is not big enough at these price levels. I have a deposit and I am getting my money back. Too risky. The recession will crush Lucid.

Tesla almost went bankrupt and was on verge of selling the company to Apple but they pulled through. Lucid tech is totally solid. They just need to work through their production issues.
