Saw this thing for sale on market place and couldn’t believe my eyes, I’m looking into different lift kits for my first gen and stumbled across this video. So damn cool, and so unique. Amazing work
On of the coolest foresters on the planet. I really like how you kept it as much subie as possible while still adding things for strength and longevity of parts. I’ve been tossing the idea around with my 16 sjxt. Wife put her foot down and said “you already have a jeep! Why would you want to ruin your nice car?”
#Goals. I found myself in an Impreza a year ago, unexpectedly. I've got an adf lift, black rhino wheels, wildpeaks. Some other plans to round out an off-roader. But I've been saying for a year how cool it would be to make it a prerunner. Motor swap it, make it a manual, run 33's. 'Why' some might ask? Why not? I love your build. Super inspiring and makes me even more motivated to one day retire my Impreza from a daily off-roader and turn it to an ultimate baja desert rat! Cheers!
That looks like fun. Personally I'd be inclined to get rid of the pod filter asap, definitely the worst possible choice for anything that goes off road. You'd be sucking some serious crap into your engine. Look at getting an airbox from a V8 or some such so you'll still have sufficient air flow but will have much better protection against dusty environments.
I'm about to buy this same generation and it's already got the prerunner build somewhat. Suspension and tires, CV axles, differential and transmission, mounts have already been done. If it doesn't have a long travel kit, I wonder how much fab work would it cost to get everything done right the first go around
You can get 4,444 and 1,59 low range. But if you beat it hard, it not last long... And still, it's not low enough. The best option is to build 4eat auto ;) can't say how it's working with EG, but with EJ25 turbo it works perfectly well. PS. You need R180 with the same type of CV as in the front. I can help with that ;)
way back when, before all this got done to it, do you remember what sort of tire size you could run on just the coilovers with subframe drop? I'm thinking of adding 2.5 adf strut bottoms to the 2/2.5" I've got already on my '02 ( also silver funny enough) and I'm trying to decide if it'd be worth it to go through the trouble of dropping the sub / what kind of budget I'm looking at. was hoping to fit 30x9.5's on there but this'd be a daily and I don't think I'd want to deal with too much rubb, of course I do have an air hammer but I really don't want to go crazy with the thing. think caster bushes'd be necessary? also how well do they air down at that size, going from 235's to 30's will mean 4 vs 6 ply side walls and I sorta wonder if the foz's guna have any trouble flattening those out when the pressures start getting low.
I ran 30x9.5R15 on multiple setups including only 2.5" LLB's. They are as big as you want to go without transmission or power mods. Reverse is nearly useless when you're stuck in mud or snow with 30's and a 2.5l. Google "great Alaskan tundra humper" to find my old Forester threads if you want.
@@AlaskanAF oh i've read through 'em, just looking for a little more specific feedback on the big tires is all. i think that's pretty much what I needed to know though, the main thing that I was thinking the 30's may be helpful for was increased footprint on snow but that reverse thing kills it for me, esp. since the new toyo at3's weigh the same in 235 as my current ko2's in 215, i noticed the power loss even going to them from stock, and now that you mention it actually I can't even imagine adding another 5+lbs/wheel. Thanks a bunch.
Man I forgot so much! It has a Deutschwerks dw200 fuel pump. The water pump is a gates - specifically with the cast impeller. I did mod the thermostat housing inlet to be larger to reduce cavitation. Oh and the thermostat is a Chevy 350 high flow sumbich

This thing is goals! Eventually I want to get my SG set up like this.
Bro your build is low key fire 🔥👌🏽 the amount of fun you’d have in that would be unreal
I like how honest you are about the build. Cool stuff none the less

Was waiting for a drive.
I’m from Russia, and when I saw your car, I really liked it. I wanted to build one of those, too

Your a man of your word thanks for a new video
Good stuff Jeremiah.
Insane
Man this is great get another one and vlog a build please !

It’s awesome, you should try and import the JDM 6speed it should bolt right up.
My goal is to eventually get a good dual range from All Drive Subaru
@@AlaskanAF wait for there custom 1.59 low gear.
No dual range.... Crap in this case.
For that size of wheels, perhaps u should think about dual range 5 speed manual with same 4,44 diff ratio?
Wow! I want one like this!
Hell yeah brother
Hey whats up what happen to forester
Very nice! Thank you for guide!👍
I like your car 🚙
Easier or hard to do a head gasket now ?
i love this
thank you

It used to have a 4eat and it was dreadfully slow lol. I also can't flat tow it with an auto. But you are right, I need at least an r180 with 930cv's.
@@AlaskanAF I working on the stronger rear axle now. PS. Slow is only stock auto with a poor engine :D
Better then a dodge trx and ford raptor
great subaru :)
How hard would it be to do this to a CRV
Sweeeeet

Stock water pump and stock fuel pump?

How did you install the hydro handbrake?
I just tee'd into the rear brake lines by the passenger seat and plumbed them to a pass-thru style hydro. It's just standard pass-through plumbing.
What are you running for front knuckles?
They are stock knuckles with uniball mounts bolted and welded on. Sorry I forgot so many little details!
