    Can't wait for more offroading from you guys.ive got a 2016 and a 2003 ,but the 2003 just seems to have so much character ,hopefully be doing mine up not too long from now and keep it as long as i can.the newer one can keep getting traded in for a newer one.

      I have a 99 outback with a 2 inch lift, I love it. I went out one time with my coworker with a lowered Forester and he realized he needed to lift it immediately. th-cam.com/video/pBHpNMtTMY8/w-d-xo.html

    Im a former Subaru certified dealer tech. Love the DIY mods, best way to really learn how and why things need to be modified. Have you done the center differential lock mod? By far the biggest improvement to my '05, true 50/50 split with no transfering front to back. I can give detailed instructions on how to do it if anyone is interested, it's really simple. End result is a switch that locks the center diff and goes back to normal operation when in the "off" position.
    Edit: This only works on the 4eat trans with the viscous clutch style center diff. Manuals have a totally different style center diff.

      Totally, we realized we forgot to reinstall a couple exhaust hangers... Worked pretty well actually. Next time we'll have to look for some hickory or something that'll give off a more pleasant aroma

    ANDERSON DESIGN & FABRICATION. Coulda saved time & $$ w/ his "Lower lift kit" & "Trailing arm spacers" .. I've got 31" all terrains on mine w/ some fender modification

    The trailing arm mod is good but if you want to have more droop without having to put subframe spacers you can also put Forester SG lateral links. They are 15mm longer thus they will give you a 30mm wider track and you wont need the wheel spacers anymore....

      Thanks for the info. We don't actually need the spacers due to the custom coilovers. We can fit the 235's we got on now just fine and are at the max droop they'll allow. Although I suppose we could always install spacers for more lift and use your suggestion. Good alternate strategy anyhow

      And when you'll start modding the front, SG A-arms with SVX axles will give you the maximum droop without subframe spacers

    Gave me hope in lifting my impreza even more. I put all sf suspension on and running into CV bind and caster issues

      Ya mine is actually a 05 Saab 9-2(same as a Impreza rs) but I got SF struts and SG coils and modified them for more spring pressure. I seriously watched all your videos lol cant wait to see how you do the front. Did you run wheel spacers to clear the struts? I'm running 215/65/16 now and I think that's as far as I can go before they rub.

      Looking forward to that as well. The fronts have spacers, but I think I could do without them. The rears had to be converted to coilovers using sleeves

    How about trying a slight bend in the trailing arm about 3 inches ahead of the bolt so you don't compromise the integrity of the tube?
    Just an idea...

      We thought about it. Anything other than a mandrel bend would have been a lot more of a compromise in strength, and we didn't have that ability at the time. It's held up just fine

      I think the stock arms are strong enough for what they have to do. The reason why we had to change them was both because they restricted the wheel droop, and they would have caused the wheel to sit too far forward. We still had to add a notch on the new trailing arms to allow for full droop, but we didn't weld any thing in as a reinforcement because they basically only have to hold the wheels position

      @Mal Rut So far they're holding up well. I felt that adding the spacers just gives you a good lever to bend the body in that area when you slam it into something.

    When you guys installed the front spacers did you use your own? Was a camber bolt enough to fix the alignment or did you have to offset the top to bottom?

      I believe the camber adjustment was enough for us as the fronts already have a fair bit of travel. That said, if you're road driving a lot you might want to double check the alignment...because frankly that isn't a huge concern for us. The spacers in the front are SJR aluminum 2".

      It's 3 or 4 inches if you don't include the tires

      That's a great question. We had originally planned to do the front soon, but the stock geometry in the front already has quite a lot of travel, and now that we've done the rear our biggest limitation is power. This has caused us to put the front on hold in terms of priority

    Nice but as you call it cheap long travel but you have coils there . is that cheap too and what coils / struts you used there? You cut holebin trailing arm and just left it there? Wont it gonna bend there or brake? You could weld that hole at least.

      Check out the link at the end to learn about the coilovers (product links are in that videos description). Notching out the trailing arm doesn't make it any more likely to bend because it only holds the wheels position relative to it's distance to the wheel well (it doesn't bear any weight). We could have welded it, but we didn't.
