To be honest, us Vietnamese people did not care at all about competition of countries in Asia. We just want to get out of the shadow of wars and develop along with the world. We have been criticized for what we have nothing to do with for so long, but we want nothing other than peace and growth. Back when ASEAN was an anti-Vietnam organization and since Vietnam joined, nothing happen besides the economic treaties and cooperations. We wish for peace and development in Vietnam, Philippines, and every country in the world ❤

The Philippines will face harder times ahead if they don’t stop borrowing tons of money from China. This will be this region’s greatest downfall in the short future: mountains of debt and the consequences of not paying it back. China will own these countries without the need for wars. It’s their Art of War strategy.

Among the countries that Vietnam loves the most on this earth, it is definitely the Philippines. Every year this country suffers from dozens and hundreds of storms and super storms, large and small, so people's lives are severely affected. From Vietnam, we hope that the Philippines will be strong and developed so that its people can enjoy happiness and prosperity to contribute to alleviating the suffering from mother nature

Thai investors enter Vietnam first. That is the Amata Group that went to build an industrial estate. At the old airport in Saigon and bring Japanese investors to build factories in industrial estates as well.
At first he thought of investing in Sihanoukville. But the Cambodian officials are rife with corruption. and changed the agreed upon location to another place, thus causing him to become distrustful that in the future there might be a problem of not being sincere Or change conditions easily
When investing in Vietnam, there were problems with electricity and water supply. The Vietnamese authorities were diligent and hurried to solve the problem.
As for the South Korean capital group, they did not come to Thailand. Because Japanese businesses are everywhere. and Thai wages are quite high In addition, the Vietnamese authorities are helpful in legal matters. Many rules neither collects taxes Nor is there to be a labor union. Set up a power plant to supply the factory. @@สุทธิศักดิ์มธุรพงศากุล Thai investors were not necessarily the first to invest in Vietnam when it opened up after the US embargo in 1995.
And the reason why Korea invests more in Vietnam instead of Thailand will have the following reasons:
      1. Workers' wages and operating costs to produce products are cheaper (of course)
      2. Korea receives preferential policies and market potential (Another part is that during the US-Vietnam war, Korean soldiers fought in Vietnam. And to compensate for the war losses in VN, Korea invested heavily in Vietnam (according to the agreement of the 2 countries)
      3. Closer cultural and ideological proximity
      4. Yes. HQ did not think that the Thai market would be beneficial for them because Japan was everywhere. It was better to look for a new land that would be easier for development.

Cheap Vietnamese labor is not the main factor. The main factor attracting investment in Vietnam is vocationally trained and culturally qualified human resources. I work for a vocational college under the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam. The Vietnamese government sponsors tuition fees from 50-100% for vocational students depending on the profession. For vocational students from 16 to under 18 years old, they will also be supported with living expenses of more than 100-150 USD per month. Most Vietnamese workers are hard-working, skillful, clean, comply with regulations, and are willing to work overtime if the company has many orders. They work hard to receive high salaries and Lunar New Year bonuses. They only take time off during the Lunar New Year and major holidays like Independence Day to reunite with their families and immediately return to work.

We the Filipinos have witnessed some of the major reasons for this... some of the major obstacles are 1) difficulty to manage the Ph due to language differences, logistics (split into thousands of islands), various cultures, 2) non-ending split between communist-extremists in the South, and democratic-Christians in the North, 3) corruption, extortion, bribery, 4) energy cost crisis, 5) slow development of the nation due to the heat, humidity, rain, storms all year round, 6) focus on politics instead of economics, 7) being soft and forgiving. Our newer leaders have evolved and realized these obstacles and the Filipinos are coming together slowly but surely under improved leadership to counter all these obstacles. Philippines is way more difficult to manage than a few square footage of Singapore. The leaders who come out on top becomes one of the strongest leaders in the world due to the difficulty of managing the Philippines... that is if they remained steadfast, unwavering, and true to the people. Philippines is proud and happy for all our ASEAN countries for growing their economy, the Filipinos really isn't here to race to finish first, we race to be happy while being at our best and enduring the adversities we face with great fortitude.. unlike the Chinese who race to come up on top and beat everyone.. because they have ulterior motives.

Lower labor cost attracts investors and manufacturers since it lowers their overall expense per year. It also don’t hurt that Vietnam don’t get hit with much natural calamities that might damage manufacturing facilities. Surely not education since Philippines is known to have highly skilled and educated workforce like in Business process outsourcing industry that requires higher education compared to mundane jobs like shoe making and cloth making of Vietnam. Philippines also export educated workforce especially nurses and seafarers worldwide, in fact, the royal family of United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia prefer Filipino nurses for their care.

Although they claim to be democratic, leadership is dominated by only a few families who continuously hold power. This overlapping system of interests greatly affects the decisions made for the country.

No hassle, very affordable food, accomondation and tours.. This is what you need for better tourism = better investments.. PH however has not improved, the moment you land in Manila it took you 2 hrs to complete the immigration vs with Hanoi which took me about 20mins.. The best was the tours, they picked you up in the hotel and dropped you off on the same vs in Ph which has no centralized tours and transportation infra. You can also see the number of foreigners in PH vs Vietnam when you visit.. It's now PH that is catching up

@KomiChannelXphilippines is the most disaster prone country in the world. Philippines have alot of development but natural disasters hampered alot of its economic potential. Philippines is like starting a civilization in hard mode. Freshwater shortage in summer, average 20 typhoons a year, numerous earthquakes and landslides, volcanic eruptions in 2024, 2023, 2022, 2020, etc. In comparison, when was the last time Vietnam suffered a major volcanic eruption? 1923? Philippines is compose of thousands of islands while Vietnam is a contiguous landmass connected to one of the biggest rivers in the world making irrigation substantially easier and making the land much more fertile for agriculture. Mekong river has one of the highest hydroelectric power potential in the world thereby giving Vietnam 23K+ megawatts of cheap energy source. Philippines only has 3K+ hydroelectric potential in comparison having very small and few rivers. That is why food and electricity is far cheaper in Vietnam… with cheaper food and electricity, people can afford to have lower labor wages. Low wages attracts foreign investors since it makes production expense much cheaper. Vietnam has much more favorable geographic location its even surprising it took them this long to surpass Philippines.

@KomiChannelXand if you’re talking about why Indonesia is richer, first, OIL. They afforded to develop earlier because they have oil… and geographic lottery gave them that. Vietnam is an emerging powerhouse and rapidly improving due to lower cost of manufacturing. However, there will come a time when it wont be sustainable and people will demand higher pay and higher real estate prices will follow. It is the same with the Phl in the 80s when a lot of factories were making American brands before they left in the 90s due to higher costs and political issues

It is true that FDI goes to countries that bring the highest profits and leaves when profits decrease. Like the Chaebol groups in Korea such as Huyndai, Samsung, LG... Vietnam is taking advantage of the opportunity of FDI investing in production in Vietnam to quietly develop its own corporations. These corporations are currently the largest in Southeast Asia in their fields (you can refer to Google). If FDI later withdraws, these corporations will replace FDI and continue to invest in Vietnam. That is the difference between Vietnam and neighboring countries in the Southeast Asian region. Vinfast (Vin Group) electric cars, VinAI, VinBigdata, Viettel Telecom, Vietjet, Hoa Phat Steel Corporation, FPT Software,... are all leading in Southeast Asia. Currently, Vietnam attracts a lot of FDI not only because of cheap labor costs. Because India, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka have cheaper labor costs than Vietnam. Compared to countries with cheap labor, Vietnam has advantages with a young workforce with a passion for technology, many skilled workers, a good education system with a high literacy rate, many free trade agreements (FTAs), a transparent administrative procedure system and a stable political system.

Vietnam is also adopting technology and developing its own large corporations, which is completely different from the Philippines in the past. Currently, there are many well-developed technology corporations in Vietnam such as FPT, Viettel, VinGroup, VinFast, Vinamik, Moniphone, and Truong Hai. Regarding your concerns, Vietnam has made preparations and has requested the establishment of technology transfer centers and research and development centers, so you don't need to worry about that.

Vinfast don't really have any technology. Most of its stuff outsourced from somewhere else China and Germany. You say Vietnam request but that's on Vietnam side to request but who will transfer the technology? No one is gonna come along and give you technology for nothing. Vietnam only has itself to count on. How many overseas students return to Vietnam? South Korea did its own independent research and had some technology transfer from Germany and Japan through various methods. When I look at the streets in Vietnam on videos I really can't see a developed country in it. It's just too too chaotic.

@@02tonylAgain with this nonsense. Vinfast bought technology from Germany and later developee their own as well. Most of the parts of the automobile have been 80% domestic for now and that percent will continue to rise.
