The space scenes when the three rockets converge on each other then slam to a stop was so bad, I almost turned off the movie. This production is awful.

Colorized films are stupid. Eventually, some aspect of it looks wrong and weird (Susan Cabot's white face and bright orange eye shadow?), and they never look like a color film that was filmed in color. There's nothing wrong with a black and white film in black and white.
Some tube electronics were actually in a stand by mode and not completely powered off for just that reason. Some old tube TV sets advertised instant on as a feature. I worked in a TV repair shop in 1971.
So cool to see Dick Miller playing a normal human being! All the times I've seen him before, he's always playing the loudmouth, brash working-class dude. Kind of weird to see him acting and speaking normally.
I've never heard of this movie 🎬 but i 😊 it very quickly. I lived the cute simple special effect & tricks. God bless the Souls of everyone who made this movie 🎬. They really made me happy❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉 This is my favorite movie that I've watched so far.
Compare and contrast with: A) 2001 A Space Odyssey, or B) Star Wars. Explains why audiences were so shocked by the authenticity of A and the adventure of B.
Whenever I have trouble falling asleep I put on old these old sci-fi movies from 50-60s. I don't know why but they are very calming to me and it works within an hour. The first half you think about what is wrong (i.e. gravity) and then it doesn't matter because you are asleep by the second half. I saw some and loved some 60's plus movies especially when Star Trek would air just after church on Sunday. 7 siblings including my self would buy ice cream and race home and watch Kirk and the gang on their exploits as they were telecast for the first time every week.

I'm just curious about the film. What precautions or special adaptations were made to the camera lining. One Haselblad guy said nothing was done to the cameras. YES HOW I REMEMBER THIS VERY WELL DONE FILM FROM THE AMAZING ROGER CORMAN! I SEEN IT IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD MOVIE HOUSE !!! THE BEACH THEATER IN THE BRONX IN 1958 ! I WAS 6 YEARS OLD!!! CORMAN WAS AMAZING WITH HIS ABILITY TO GET THE MOST OUT OF THE ACTORS AND HIS IMAGINATION

Then again they are not alive either.. How far out the actual barrier is nobody knows.. If we can land on the moon then that barrier is out even further.. Personally I think it ends at the solar system.. We might not be able to go past pluto.. There is this weird thing just on the other side of Pluto. The voyager spacecraft went through it

He's smoking a pipe yet he's going to space? Astronauts aren't smokers because they can't smoke when in space so the nicotine addiction would overwhelm them. This guy with his pipe addiction couldn't make it in space but "somehow" in the movie he figured he could go anyway.... lol.

I remember watching this movie as a child on the local Saturday night "late show", then searching for it for YEARS. Found it accidentally in one of those "20 movies for $10" dvd box sets about ten years ago.
Interesting plot with awful acting lol. At least Corman tried to work with bad dialog and wooden actors, and some of the music sounds like it was written for a Tarzan film. This one would be better if you were at a drive-in with your sweetie. At least no monsters in rubber suits, thank God!

this is a fun movie and has a strong Gerry Anderson of thunder birds and captain scarlet fame about it .great fun movie.
