Great old movie! Pretty good effects for the day, I'd say .. it's always nice to enjoy something like this, from the days when a person had to use their imagination and the situations were sometimes tense if only because you knew they were supposed to be. Most younger people would never believe that those were actually better days in a lot of ways. I agree.. thanks for sharing!
I like some of these old B&W, low budget Sci-fi movies. Like many here, I was able to enjoy this movie. Those that are complaining here, just what did you expect from a low budget film that is heading towards 90 years old?
There is something about those old B/W movies that can tell a story like it is really great entertainment not just special effect and things blowing up.
Love the movies that feature a lab. Always admired the sci fi lab equipment set pieces. The folks that built them did such a great job, all the switches and controls are in absolutely straight lines. I imagined it was 2 or 3 ham radio operators used to building their own radios who built the set pieces.
This incident of the World Exploding mentioned in video was totally eclipsed by the Jerry Lee Lewis release of Goodness Gracious Great Balls Of Fire ! So the World Exploding thingy was barely even noticed and that's why we've forgotten it today.
Kathryn grant( Mrs bing Crosby) and William Leslie and trisam coffin Star in this science fiction thriller about a sudden shift in the earth that caused earthquakes and a mysterious element that could be the one cause of them! It takes a Herculean effort by every nation on the planet to fight this menace at the end of this flick! For a sci-go science fiction film like that,it was cheesy but good stuff! 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Now whenever the washing machine pumps out and makes that noise I'm gunna worry the world is gunna blow, especially when it starts shaking during the spin cycle!😅
I like how the military dudes at the helicopter about to depart for the dam never volunteered to help carry the box of E-112 down to the generator despite almost certainly being physically stronger than the scientist and the old sheriff. #NotInMyJobDescription
Isn't it curious that he just invented an earthquake prediction machine and then suddenly there are earthquakes everywhere? I think he's actually causing them. That's the angle that this movie needs, it's called realism. Lol
How else could he have gotten to spend so much time in close quarters with his secret love interest - Hutch - away from her long-time boyfriend, and in a crisis to jack up their emotional connection? Sure, it resulted in millions upon millions of people dying, but hot little Hutch was well worth it!
Ahh.. Kathryn Grant.. she was Married to BING CROSBY & in a Cool Sinbad movie ! And the older show called DALLAS.? the big question at the time was : Who Shot J.R. ?! WELL.. BING AND KATHRYN'S GIRL DID !! MARY CROSBY, oh.. her twin brother was the Archer who was killed BY JASON I mean his ... MOTHER in the first hackem up campin movie of the 70's. Can't quite remember the name of that old movie now .🤔 but I do think Hollywood is on part 10 by now and they just call it Jason . And I'm not talking about Sleepaway camp (1st one) ... that's a whole another animal, which is a great watch by the way. 🤠🖖 ♨️
"Conway takes his equipment to the deepest point of Carlsbad Caverns, in hopes that being closer to the center of the earth..." lol Carlsbad Caverns are only 1000 feet deep. You could just go and stand on the shore of the Dead Sea in Israel. That's 1400 feet below sea level! lol
These kinds of cheezy science fiction movies inspired me as a teenage boy to pursue becoming a scientist so that hot and intelligent female assistants like Hutch would be attracted to me.
😆 THIS was a classic Sci-Fi b-movie. If it wasn’t some ‘ end of the world ’ threat from Outer Space, then It was someone or something deadly preying upon or lurking within The Earth.
The narrator is the same actor who played Cannon the 70s private eye. His speech is very articulated and correct. A very rich and powerful voice similar to Orson Wells, I think.
I never heard of Captain Nice. I will look him up. Thanks Man. The only Super Hero that I dressed up as a kid was Underdog. My Mom made a cape and I ate Red cinnamon candy for Super Energy pills. I was 4 or 5 and Life was Good. Still is. God Bless Brother 🙏
Not a bad movie.. I was expecting it to be worse for the age of it.. I already have watched at least for or five very cheesy movies.. And one very good western movie.. With ronald reagan..
As a geologist this most hilarious film I've ever seen... kept waiting for Smokey the bear to show up and save the day. What was that new element they discovered ? 112 ? Copernicium is a synthetic chemical element with the symbol Cn and atomic number 112. Its known isotopes are extremely radioactive, and have only been created in a laboratory. The most stable known isotope, copernicium-285, has a half-life of approximately 30 seconds. Copernicium was first created in 1996 by the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research near Darmstadt, Germany. It was named after the astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus.
This is the best movie I ever seen. I like the colors, black and grey and white. The Girl is the most beautiful girl I ever seen. I want to be a guy that does that stuff someday. That room is neat-o, it even has coolers of cold drinks and sandwiches. I like it all, neat-o. I like those hats, she is pretty. It was terrible when Kirk gotted blown to smitherenes. Her nic-name is swell... Hutch, I would like to be called Corky or Dicky, and I would have a girlfriend named Peggy. I'm scared.
Lifelong myth busted by this movie. President Kennedy did not start the custom of leaving the bottom jacket button unbuttoned. All the men in this(1957) movie are doing it.
I love how all these movies relied on the audience being completely ignorant of basic scientific principles. Also, why didn't the 112 burn through the bottom of the globe before it exploded?
the hubris and lack of perspective on the characters part in the end is not surprising. man doesn't learn or remember very much from the present or the past.
Interestingly, the real Element 112 (Copernicium) is so radioactive, a spec of dust quantity would make a bomb better than current designs for nuclear weapons based on plutonium. The stuff in this movie is probably sodium.
Young lady scientist and young male scientist, romance predicted within the first 2 minutes. Not a bad movie, not a good movie but better than the movie I started to watched but gave up watching after 3 minutes, something called swarmed
Hutch was being a bit of a drama queen when trapped in that cavern because of the cave-in. Heck! They were just pieces of painted styrofoam that fell onto her!
Back when scientific discussion took place around coffee and cigarettes.☕🚬 There was nothing in the 1950s those two commodities couldn't solve. Oh no, the thought just came to me... nowadays those rocks would probably be called dark matter.
I saw this movie with my father when was 9 years old now i'm 63 and he passed away thanks for the memories, so good movie, freetings from Guatemala
Your math sucks guy you would be around 75yrs old go back to school
very enjoyable, and is always good to see Kathryn Grant (Crosby) I just loved her in this era
Reminds me a bit of the Monolith Monsters. Love the pacing here. Good movie. Thank you for sharing
Or of Dune Roller from 1950 (Julian May, Astounding Science Fiction and TV Tales of Tomorrow 1952)

Well written. Well-acted. Well-paced. Nice tidy film.
Glad you liked it!

I love these old black and white movies, my fav is ' Them ' , I like it so much I got the d.v.d.
67 years old 😂😂😂 as I am
I thought it odd that at the end it has a HUGE "Copyright Cheezy Movies 2021" 😮
Copyrighted movies are good for 95 years. Still a while to go...
Something better like RoboCop or moonfall
77 years mathematician boy
1:01:45 - what a cool shot of water racing aound the bend of a tunnel!
Quite good! I wasn’t expecting that. Thanks for posting.
Great documentary. Most people don't realize that this movie was based on a true story.
No sightings of element 112 since, so far so good.
Old school movie, I love it all the way Live. 🍿🍿🍿⭐
conway and hutch save the world! and everybody lived happily for ever more.
Except the millions who died in those earthquakes and volcanic explosions. But ok.
18:49 😂😂😂 Hutch looked so scared, impotent, frozen, and out of her element, I mistook her for the junior Senator of Alabama, Katie Britt. 😂😂😂
Great stock footage......'' That's our first big break and we Love you for it ! ''
Good message. If we can’t work together, maybe we don’t deserve to be here.
Sheriff Quinn, not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Volcano forming behind him, continues to chat on the phone.
There is something about those old B/W movies that can tell a story like it is really great entertainment not just special effect and things blowing up.
3 minutes in and we have a politician who refuses to listen to the experts. That must be a record!

I like how they had to use a globe of the Earth so scientist could understand what could happen
Kathryn Grant - Mrs. Bing Crosby!
At around 48 minutes she walks in, her eyebrows look painted on, spooky…
I love movies without the CGI stuff in most of today’s films.
Another great one. Elements in it that even today are a possibility.
Those rocks brought to mind dark matter.
Cool . First time I've seen this one
I believe element 112 is similar to hard-to-obtainium.
Unobtainium, I remember that movie the guy called it unobtanium cause he couldn't get any more. That is good thanks.
Cyclists use "unobtainium" as a joke description of the highest priced, lightweight gadgetry for racing bikes.
This incident of the World Exploding mentioned in video was totally eclipsed by the Jerry Lee Lewis release of Goodness Gracious Great Balls Of Fire ! So the World Exploding thingy was barely even noticed and that's why we've forgotten it today.
It was obvious that something really serious was going to happen when Hutch stopped writing on her clipboard at 2.0 minutes in.
Movie needs more giant ants.
They could borrow some from Them.
Or a gila monster...
😂😂💀
Can THEM there ants be found on YT?
ALL movies need giant ants

Wow Bing Crosby's wife was Hutch, quite the Babe.
Held my interest from beginning to end. Good plot tension, nicely paced, and some romance. No monsters but was entertaining without them.
The subtitles are comedy gold. Amazon Prime
As the film shows us clearly, there is a direct correlation between smoking and earthquakes...
The longer this goes on, the worse it gets. At least Hutch was there for the damsel in distress eye candy.
Fabulous science fiction similar to When World Collide & other 1950s style.
Element 112 is actually Copernicium (CN). Highly radioactive.
My mind is telling me that there were only 101/102 elements discovered in 1957, but my 75yo mind sometimes lies to me.
To many adds to enjoy this movie.
