Hi - The Mylio Photos application is free to use forever. We believe that everyone can benefit from the easy organizational features (best-in-class search and filter, totally private AI-SmartTags, and more) included in the free version. We also offer Mylio Photos+ $99.99/year or $9.99 USD/month. This optional subscription offers additional benefits like connecting all of your devices and accessing your entire library no matter what device you're using, deduplication, tools to help backup and protect your library, and more.
Hi Mylio Team, Your product is very promising. I would like to ask about OCR, as this option is of great interest to me. It seems to detect some words but not others. Is there some kind of tolerance setting in place here, similar to face detection?
Hi, sokals44, our OCR can detect most legible text. However, handwriting must also be legible, and cursive writing is often not recognized. There isn't an adjustable tolerance setting, though. If you have a specific example that isn't being recognized that you think should be, please feel free to send it to our support team so our devs can take a look. You can reach support via the in-app Help menu or at support.mylio.com. ~Angela
What information is stored on my PC in relation to my photos? Are files created in each sub/dir? or how or if a database is created and is the database on my PC or with the company that offers this software. And what about compatibility with different software, a keyword should ideally be placed in the same place in an EXIF or IPCT, otherwise other programs cannot find the information and your work is wasted.
Hi MrAalestrup - Here is a breakdown of the files that are stored on your computer: manual.mylio.com/24.3/en/topic/your-file-system-and-mylio-photos As for metadata (keywords, etc.), Mylio Photos uses the industry standard whenever possible so that the information can be used across multiple programs.
@@MylioPhotos I've deleted the program again. I was uneasy about the method and was afraid it would change something other than just adding keywords to the file, but it can't. It seems like the program can only handle the information you enter after installation, so all keywords and descriptions you've entered beforehand are not read. It creates an extra file for each image. If you start using the program and then regret it, you'll have to redo all your work, since it only stores your descriptions and keywords in its own file. What I want is that when I assign a keyword, it's stored in the image file's EXIF data, and not in a separate file, the same with descriptions. The search function is very limited. The smart-Keywords are in English, which is not my language, and besides, it's extremely bad at evaluating the content of an image. Overall, the bad things about the program overshadow the good things, which become insignificant, so it's now been removed from my computer.
@@MrAalestrup Hello, just FYI ... I read below ( in the answer of the question of @carstorm85 ) that there is somewhere an option to apply metadata directly to the original images with Mylio Photos' “Save Metadata to File” option. It is of course wise to test this out first (on a few test photo-files) and to verify what exactly happens to the existing metadata, that you entered before and was already there before Mylio was installed, in other words taking into account your earlier statement that Mylio could not read the earlier existing metadata -> When Mylio writes new metadata into the photo-file, what happens with the old metadata ... ? On this topic, I think it is also important to try to figure out if this earlier existing metadata has been stored according to proper & common standards, because if not, then it is probably not only going to be Mylio having trouble reading this metadata, but also other programs that follows certain metadata standards ... Probably not an easy task I think, and this also shows painfully that all stories about "you can choose to change program at any time if you like ... bla bla bla" ... is always to be taken with a grain of salt :o)
@@MrAalestrup I'm sorry to hear that Mylio Photos wasn't a good fit for your workflow. To address your concerns about keywords, by default, they are stored in industry-standard sidecar XMP files, which can be ready by most photo management applications. However, if you want to embed metadata changes to your files, Mylio does let you initiate that for compatible file types. You can learn more about manual.mylio.com/topic/organize-with-metadata-info-panel in the section at the end of the article "Embedding Metadata to a File". ~Angela
@@zakzoezie8658 It may well be that my test of the program has been too quick, in any case the function has not been easily accessible because then I would have seen it. But to be compatible, I measure the programs against Adboe Photoshop, if Photoshop or Brigde can read the embedded data, I consider it an approval. In fact, it's usually the first test I do before I spend too much time understanding the new programs I'm testing. If they cannot embed data that can be read by adobe Photoshop in the right positions, then I interrupt the test and delete the program. But in myilo I could not see embedded data and so the program is not interesting. Since I care a lot about being able to find my pictures via keywords or descriptions.
Hi Dusty - You may need an external hard drive, but it depends on the size of your media library and how much storage space is available on the device you're using. The Mylio Photos application is free to use. A Mylio Photos+ plan offers annual and monthly service plans for $99.99/year or $9.99 USD/month. In addition, we offer a 30-day money-back satisfaction guarantee (for any reason) after the purchase of a subscription. You can learn more about Mylio Photos at mylio.com/faq/. ~Angela@Mylio
There is a feature that is not available on iPhone photo storage that I’m hoping is on mylio. Can I add a SINGLE photo to MULTIPLE albums in ONE step? Which would help exponentially with organizing
Hi - Unfortunately, no. You can add multiple images at once to an Album, but it isn't possible at this time to add an image (or group of images) to multiple Albums in one step. ~Angela@Mylio
Hi - You can start with a free trial. If you cancel within the trial period, the app will revert to the free version and you'll still have access on a single device. ~Angela
Hi Steve, yes you can add videos as well. Mylio Photos empowers you to enrich your photos with rich details about the people, events, and locations in your photos and videos. Plus, you can embed this information, so it’s easily shareable and ready for future generations.

Hi, Mylio Photos users have the option to trial Mylio Photos+ absolutely free for 30 days. After the trial period, if you decide you don't want to pay the subscription, you can still use the free version of Mylio, which includes fewer features than Mylio Photos +, but is free.
Hi @ehethuji - Mylio Photos takes privacy very seriously. Your media is never seen by our company, and if you choose to store your photos in the cloud, you have the option to encrypt the upload. ~Angela
This might finally be the Google Picasa replacement I've been looking for! How does Mylio store data such as face grouping, I know Picasa will store it in the folder where the photos are meaning that if you reinstall Picasa or copy the folders to another device, there's no setup as it just reads those files in the folder and automatically has all the info it did priviously?
We're thrilled to hear about your interest! Mylio Photos stores data such as face grouping in XMP files, which are standard for recording metadata in images. Your original images remain unchanged, and any changes you make are recorded in these files. These changes can be read by most applications that utilize XMP files. You can also apply metadata directly to the original images with Mylio Photos' “Save Metadata to File” option.
@@MylioPhotos thank you for the response although it doesn't quite answer my question. Picasa for example also doesn't edit the file itself, but put the info in a. ini file in the same folder as the photo. Where does the XMP file that Mylio creates stored, is it in the same folder as the picture, or are they all in a central folder under Mylio program files for example?
Hi - You can download the free version of Mylio Photos at mylio.com/download. If you start a free trial and decide to cancel the subscription, the app will also revert to the free version. Hope that helps!
Hi @bobbeard3690 - A free version of Mylio Photos is available. If you start a free trial, then cancel the trial, the app will revert to the free version.
