    For years, the Tudor Black Bay GMT was an outlier, providing a capable entry door to the world of Swiss luxury GMT watches with "true" GMT functionality. But now, Longines offers the impressive Spirit Zulu Time, a true GMT from a major swiss brand that undercuts the Tudor by around $1,000. In this video, we'll address the burning question of which one of these excellent dual-time watches is right for you.

    This Longines is just pure class. No flash, no Rolex colouring, just subtle finesse and functional beauty. The blacked out GMT hand allows the incredible beauty of the dial to be less cluttered by another full coloured hand. Exquisite elegance. Gorgeous modern take on a historical brand.

      Why is owning a Tudor bad because it's more affordable? Yes most people can't afford a $15K Rolex GMT but still want a quality gmt. Im okay with buying a "cheaper" Tudor still a $4K watch.. lol.

      @@ytfeelslikenorthkorea as a long time shamelessly mediocre guitar player I am thankful my guitar tastes are nowhere near as expensive as my watch tastes. But there's a huge similarity. Regarding quality, I am appalled by Rolex. I have no less than four alignment issues on an explorer 2 bought brand new from the AD. Of course they are all minor enough that I failed to notice them right away. But the more I look at Rolexes the more prevalent they seem.

    Proud Black Bay GMT owner, I have had it for just about a year. Since owning it I have used the jumping hour extensively, taken it snorkeling in the keys, rock climbing, gone spelunking, passed through countless airport scanners, totaled a car, many many trips to the gun range, and been wheeling out in death valley CA. It still is keeping within 1-3 seconds a day and has not had a single issue with the date. 10/10 would recommend.

    Have had the Tudor for over a year now; no date issues whatsoever, and it keeps time as described in the video. As a tall person with thick wrists, the BB's size is fine, but I can see how some might have an issue. Worth noting: the 48 click bezel matters. • @stocksxbondage
      @stocksxbondage 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@kbarnbrook4993I’ve experienced this with my Zulu Time. There is play with the date wheel, so mine actually straightens up by the next day. Adjusting it myself using the flyer hour hand doesn’t fix it, I have to wait 🤷🏽‍♂️ Honestly it’s so slightly off, it’s not concerning to me. A date wheel that isn’t absolutely, positively perfect never bothered me on any watch (Tudor or Longines). Never knew it was a concern until I got into Internet forums.
      Fixing this would mean sending it in under warranty, which they’ll likely replace the movement entirely! My particular example is running +1 sec and I haven’t hacked it since Thanksgiving. That’s a month ago! I’m getting +12 per year on avg with a mechanical watch I got for over 20% off lol. A date window is the least of my concerns if it means swapping my movement for something getting +4 sec per day which would be within its acceptable range. Idk what’s going on with my particular watch but I got lucky even with the wonky date.

    I recently bought the Zulu Time with the blue dial and on a bracelet. I’m a big fan of how it wears. It’s thinner than Tudor of which I own the BB chrono and a heritage black bay. The lume on the numbers feels different and is actually quite nice to look at in dark spaces. I agree with you that the bezel is not as smooth as say my Rolex submariner but at this price point the Zulu time is easy to set and it is a true gmt. The dial is a brilliant combination of details and sunburst blue which reminds me of some of the blue dials in the Rolex line. The bracelet is actually substantial sitting somewhere between the average bracelet and the oyster bracelet. Overall the watch has some great wrist presence. Im very happy with my purchase so far and it is certainly going to be in the roll or on the wrist on my next trip abroad.

    I’ve owned a BB GMT for a year. Bought it online from a private seller with warranty. From the beginning, the date was jamming every few days after setting it correctly. The seller didn’t take it back so I took it to a dealer with my warranty card and they sent it in to have it fixed under the warranty. However, I was out of a time piece for the two months that Rolex took to fix the date issue. However when I got it back, it looked like I just bought a brand new watch. I love wearing it on a daily basis.

It is a gorgeous watch, the blue is beautiful, and the domed crystal blends in with the bezel's contour beautifully. Teddy, as usual a great video and the comparision is to the point. Bought the Longines Zulu a couple of weeks ago with bracelet and leather strap at a reasonable discount. The Tudor was not really an option as I already own a GMT Master II. The lume on the Longines does the job for me, the watch is still well readable after eight hours in the dark. You are indeed correct, the bracelet is a bit flimsy for a watch at this price point, but it has one major advantage: The quick release system, which allows to swap bracelet and leatherstrap easily. From my point of view the GMT hand could be a bit broader to make it easier to read, i.e. alike the Explorer II. Also found the edges at the lugs to be quite sharp and will see if it harms the cuffs of my shirts. Besides that an excellent watch if you think of value for money for a true GMT!

One correction though is that the bezel is a 48 click not 24 so allows the time display to be correct in cities that do not have the full hour UTC offset. I work with people and areas where time zones that are UTC +- X and 1/2 hours so find this very handy. I will be at the AD tomorrow to take a look at the Zulu time from Longines so the release of this video is perfectly timed. Nice video, Teddy! I have had a Tudor GMT since the first year, and it had the movement replaced under warranty- but no issues since. I like it for swilling/diving vacations in different time zones. I used to bring a diver and a Rolex gmt. Now I bring one. I would appreciate it if you would mention if watches have regulation capability, as I know many watches don’t have regulation possible by a local watchmaker.

    I was torn between the two but went with the Zulu Time and couldn’t be happier. The build quality is at worst equal to the Tudor also being thinner was a big bonus for the Zulu. Ultimately the Tudor GMT wants to be a Rolex Master II but it’s not and never will be. The Zulu time is it’s own design and look. They’re both great watches but the Zulu can’t be beat and the value you get is exceptional. The accuracy has also been phenomenal with + 20 ish seconds over a two month period.

      I have a mental Hangul about buying products in any arena, not just watches, that are just cheaper versions of what they’re trying to be. I KNOW Tudors are good watches. But I just can’t get over that it’s just a cheap Rolex. And I’m not even a Rolex fanboy. I’ve only ever spent over 10k and it was for JLC so I don’t have some loyalty to Rolex. But I don’t respect companies that don’t just do their own thing. It’s just a money grab for Rolex and that’s fine.

    Great video and comparison. I went to my AD a couple of years ago to buy the BB GMT and I felt straight away that it was trying to be a Rolex GMT Master 11, which it isn’t, so I tried the BB41 with red bezel and loved it and bought it immediately. It wasn’t trying to be anything but itself. I’ve just bought the Longines Spirit Zulu GMT and I have fallen in love with it. It’s definitely the most beautiful and attractive watch I’ve ever owned and I hate having to say that, as I’m also the extremely proud owner of a Rolex Submariner SS date, which will always be my pride and joy!! But my new Longines GMT is going to challenge my admiration for a considerable time. It’s got everything and doesn’t try to be anything other than itself. The tan leather strap also transforms the watch and the green bezel changes colour in every light.

Previously I thought it was a bit too heavy and too thick for everyday wear, but during international travel the Pepsi bezel, round markers, and differentiations among the different hands provided easy reading of time at a simple glance. The watch was also tough enough to weather through all the sunray, heat, moisture, and rain of the tropical area I am travelling to. Also I would recommend at least trying the NATO straip on BB GMT. The fabric may not be the most comfortable among all NATOs, but it does reduce the overall weight of the watch and provide a less intrusive wearing experience during international flight and travel.
