  • I’ve updated my grow shelves and added a second shelf. I’ve also added some new lights from the Orchid Hobbyist. Hear really good things and looking forward to seeing what they do to my orchids. I also give an update on my recently repotted seedlings and my water culture vanda.
    Orchid Hobbyist Lights: theorchidhobby...
3 Ft LED Lights, 14W, Especially formulated for orchids - From their site: “Our spectrum is a Full Spectrum plus the addition of Red LEDs along with a housing built to be with plants. It is 2:1. 2 parts full spectrum white light (6500k) to one part Red LED. The advantage of this Red LED (660 nm) is chlorophyll strongly absorbs the red light given off of the LEDs and it can stimulate flowering.”

Which light brand is the best for orchids through your experience? I really appreciate your genuine feedback!

I like the orchid Hobbyist lights the most, however I find that the Monios high output lights are good at a much better price point and I've been able to bloom cattleyas with them. Hope that helps :))

@@NicoleDeanna Thank you for your info. I will check them out. Also do know a great, trustable automatic indoors orchid watering system? I would need it if I go to a vacation. Thank you again!

@@Apistoleon I don't have an automatic system, but I'd be interested in hearing if you find a good one!

Hi- thanks for the video. Which lights are you using for the catts and vandas? Btw- your Orchid Hobbyist link needs an update.

During the time I made this video I used the Monios Lights, and kept them 6 inches away from the tops of the cattleya and vanda leaves. Now I used the orchid hobbyist lights, they rebranded to Botanical LEDS, I use the spike producing ones. They are working well! Thanks for the heads up on the link.

Great set up Nicole! I’m looking at getting the Kihung lights for my low light plants. Are your kihung lights still in decent condition? Have your orchids responded well? Thanks for this video

Hi Andrea! The kihung lights are great! They are still in good shape. I recently replaced them to get more consistency in the light temperatures in the room, however I gave them to my mom. My phals under them were really happy and the price point is 👌
