bro your timing is great i was searching about omen transcend 14 and you didn’t had a video on it before i have been watching your reviews for over 2 weeks trying to find the best laptop. Great work keep it up
i still haven’t decided but chances are that i will go with lenovo legion 7i(non pro) with i7-14700HX processor 4070 rtx or legion 7i pro i am also considering alienware m16r2
the glossy screen is sadly too much for my use case :( - a lot of bright rooms, and it's a bit stressful to my eyes. same with the lenovo 14.5". but I really love that laptop size.
I think only zephyrus g14 2024 that has oled screen with anti reflective screen coating. Sure it still reflective screen, but not as bad as other laptops.
It depends which size you want, there are lots of laptops with non-glossy screens that are OLED. I’m using a ThinkPad P1 with a 13 900 H and a 4060 and it has a gorgeous OLED that is non-reflective
There is an *easy* fix for that. Just get a matte screen protector, problem solved. I hate glossy screens too. Using matte screen protectors has made things so much easier for me when it comes to choosing a laptop, monitor, etc...
The G4 is definitely better in terms of performance, however it costs about the same, and also has massively Nerfed cooling. I have a review of it coming this week, I am not really a fan of it either
I have the maxed out 4070 model and I love it for portability but of course it takes a huge performance hit due to the slim form factor and limited output of the power brick to keep temps low. Take note that the wrist rests contrary to my initial belief that they would be cooler can run pretty hot but not as hot as my previous G14. They could have done much better with the form factor and weight of the power brick. Perhaps that is my biggest complaint. For demanding users if you want more power the power brick gets heavier and bulkier and accounts for most of the travel weight. Overall, I love this laptop after tweaking the usual laptop and Nvidia settings.
Dude amazing performance and temperatures are amazing. I used to own the Legion Slim 7, which was a more "premium" laptop which has the same exact specs. That shit would cook my crotch on light use. Same specs. The speakers are really the only things that are abysmal. Other than that I'd say this is the King of 14" laptops of 2024, even though it came out it 2023. For its price of $1100, you get a very well rounded travel gaming laptop. Great battery, great temps, great performance. Bought it from bestbuy btw. No buyers remorse here. O one thing forgot to add is it has 2 nvme slots. For more storage upgradability.
Hi, Lenovo just released a new Yoga Pro 7 gen 9 with OLED screen, intel ultra 7, RTX 4050 do you think the quality of the build will be better than this? 🥰
The issue with both laptops as they have pretty nerfed performance. The G 14 has quite pathetic cooling inside, although it does perform much better than this. The omen simply doesn’t have enough watts to make use of components superior. It’s such a strange choice from both brands
Man, I really love this thing. Especially the keyboard. If I'm to pick between this and the Lenovo Legion Slim 14 for strictly Blender, Photoshop & 3D / video editing, which do you think would be more competent?
I’m returning my Lenovo slim 9i because it is impossible to alter fan curves on Lenovo unless you get a legion. I tried 5 different programs. Nothing worked. If you get a Lenovo it needs to be a legion if you want any form of computer thermal maintence/up keep.
bro the screen is unbelievably small 😭 I think I regret my purchase just cus of that. I don't wanna have to sit so close or find a way to elevate it in order for it to be to eye level and not have me looking down at it whenever I play on it. Suggestions ?
Great review! Would this laptop be apt for my use case? I do a fair bit of editing in after effects and play moderately intensive games (Fortnite, battlefield series, cities skylines etc). Also for me battery and thermals are slightly more important than in game frames. Can this laptop give 70ish frames atleast on high-max settings in the games I mentioned?
@@tanayjain8211 That would be enough. I have a 4060, I run Fortnite on Medium-High settings in 2.8K and I get 120 fps stable, uncapped i can get 140. Cities I get around the same, I don't play battlefield tho. If a 4060 can do that, a 4070 definitely can.
I have discount coupon from lenovo which brings the effective price of maxxed out glacier white legion 7i to 2133 USD .. i will order it anyway but am only waiting for the display comparison to oled to drop soon and i see the difference . Nice work anyways😁
Bought this from JBhifi EOFY sale for $2600 AUD. Replacement of macbook. so this fits all my requirements. Its packed with good internals. Its a good casual gaming /Professional laptop. Games like Forza, NFS, EA FIFA, F!, runs pretty good. I do like 90s games, If I want to play some heavier games, I would use my Play station. for what it is the Processor needs to be upgraded to pair up with RTX. also I dont think I will be overclocking as well playing high end games.
Yeah I’ve decided to also run them a bit longer. You guys typically don’t see the behind the scenes of me using a laptop for days or weeks, but at least I can show the actual drain
Im coming from a 1660ti with i5 10th gen, i can game way better and with dlss 3.0 i can reach better performance. I got the 4070 version and have 10 days left to return it. I just want something for when im on the go as i have a 3080ti desktop setup.
What people need is higher performance with lower watt. Companys forgot that laptops should be mobile useable. Means 2 hours+ gaming on the way or somewhere else. I would prefer the best cpu+gpu with the lowest watt instead of 10-40% faster with +400% watt. Why? battery is limited to max 99.99watt.. means only performance per watt is important. There is no reason for a 300w gaming laptop, then you should buy a cheaper itx pc. AMD make it right but nvidia didnt, rtx 4090 use at least 90w to work. A rtx 5090 with 20w - 80w would be perfect. Silent and also fast enough.
what do you think I should buy lenovo legion 7i with i7 processor rtx 4070 16gb ram or alienware m16 r2 or this hp omen transcend 14. I was also considering acer predator helios neo 16. I am really confused 😭
@@nikhilrmahi yes with that form factor i7 is better option, watch the comparison video of legion 5 pro, 7i and 7i pro on this channel, he also recommended getting i7 instead of i9, sadly it was too late for me. Would’ve gone for i7 as well. Apart from heat I have no issues in 7days of use.
U can pull an extra 15w some of the time. Idk if there’s a way to make it pull the extra 15w at all times, I haven’t been able to yet anyway. HP won’t let u for some stupid mf reason, seriously hinders the 4070 for sure. Main downfall here.
I thought the HP OT 14 was supposed to have less fan noise compared to other 14 with OLED and GF4060 😢. I can’t decide with so many options here 😅. Keep up the great reviews Beau. For quiet (no high pitched noise) with oled and gf4060 is yoga or ideapad even better than this or g14 when it comes to price?
Why these OEMs are so dumb they call it gaming laptop and given this laptop a 2.8K screen if they could given a 1080p screen gaming could have been much better this is a 14" laptop so 1080p is pretty fine
@@TechGuyBeau But G14 has 90 Watt TDP instead of 65 Watts for the GPU. So, one can decrease the power limit of the GPU in G14 to match its performance to the Omen and then G14 should perform cooler. Anyway, I am looking forward to your review for G14!

The laptop is kinda nerfed to be honest with respect to gaming and overall speaker performance. But then the G 14 is better and costs more.
ASUS warranty service is terrible.
