Hmmm that's a tough one. I think the slightly higher cost of the G14 is still worth it, since you're getting a more powerful GPU (The 4070 in the Omen performs like a 4060), and the build quality is better. But it depends on your budget, and item availability of course
hey, ive heard about asus laptops being unreliable. I got a zenbook 14 and it had hardware issues, returned it, and had the same problem 2 times. Do you think theres a chance the g14 would also come out faulty in my area or should I just get it?
You can't really predict those kinda things unfortunately. Asus laptops aren't unreliable, but i think they may have worse quality control (which are noticeable right away though). As long as your retailer has a return policy, there's no real risk in trying it anyways :) Just remember to fully stress test it, and test it for any defects within the return period. I've gotten unlucky with every laptop brand there is, so i dont think it's brand specific 🥲
Hi ! I do have a question. In your test, you say that the Omen struggles how to share the power between CPU and GPU. But when I look on the internet, they say both computers have the same TDP of 45W for the CPU. I mostly play CPU-heavy games, Sim games such as Planet Coaster, Cities Skyline etc. My question : is the Omen really worse CPU-wise than the G14 (in game) ? I’ve read a lot that in order to get a higher wattage for the GPU, the G14 nerf its CPU a lot. Is that true ? Ty in advance
It's about the same in terms of prices, but keep in mind the german keyboard layout is slightly different than the Dutch/International one. German retailers may have more aggressive deals coming up though, so look out :o This holiday is def the cheapest time for it, since RTX 50 GPUs are coming out in 2025, and laptops may follow. In Holland it's probably the cheapest either from the official Asus webstore with a deal, or from Alternate.nl :)
I can assume that when travelling it is better to take Omen because of 140w charger that can be used with other devices, while in G14 type-c charging supports up to 100w, so from type-c G14 works worse. Of course you can take a proprietary 180w charger, but not everyone is ready to carry around an extra half a kilo for the sake of a small performance boost.
In some regions, the G14 comes with both this charger, and a 130W USB-C charger (the same one that the Flow X13 2023 uses). They can both charge at 100W with any generic USB-C charger, so i wouldnt call it an advantage necessarily. I have an Anker 100W gAn charger which is like 250 grams, which i carry with me when i dont want to use the full size brick. So they both have that versatility :)
Hey, I have a question regarding the HP omen transcend 14 - what is the max turbo boost can the ultra 7 get upto for just a single core performance, and also what temps does it get ? I looked into the prime95 tests of omen T14 and it looks like it's turbo boosting only upto 3.3 GHz and reaching 98 c temps, and then it throttles back to 3 GHz and 71 c. This is kind of a dealbreaker for me but i believe the test is that it's running all 6 P cores to 3.3 GHz. Most of my work apppications mainly work on single core, and to have atleast 3.8 to 4 GHz for a smoother operation. Does the intel ultra 7 turbo boost upto those clock speeds at single core ? While maintaining temps under 65-70 c ?
Hi, i dont have insight into the Ultra 7, since i only have the Ultra 9 model. The tests you mentioned are indeed all-core loads, so it'll heat up very quickly, and will need to throttle to cool down. On single core loads, it does keep its max boost frequency, which on the Ultra 9 is 5.0-5.1 GHz. On the ultra 7 this should be around 4.7-4.8
@@crimsontechyt so basically for ultra 9 on single core .. practically it is able to go upto 5 GHz .. that's awsome. But what about the temps ? Is it able to go to those speeds and still maintain under 65 c ?
It really depends on how much RAM the laptop comes with. If you have one with 16GB, Windows will use about 4-5GB. If you have 32GB, it will use around 5-6. This is just Windows pre-allocating RAM, so it shouldn't be an issue unless you play VERY RAM intensive games (like Rust).
I bought the HP with the 4070 and 32 GB of RAM today for €1700, compared to the Asus which costs €2499. The Asus is better, but not enough to justify an extra €700. My 2 cents.
It definitely does! But it never uses all that overkill cooling, since the system is so bottlenecked by power limits. It's a shame that such a nice cooling system is wasted with such bottlenecks.
@crimsontechyt I just bought the G14 a week ago and it has been great. I still have armory crate on it but I might switch it to the G one. I have an Alienware M18 as well (which I will probably be getting rid of.) We will see. Keep up the good work.
Love tht honest review and side by side comparison! In terms of temperature, how hot/uncomfortable does the G14 get after awhile? I know all gaming laptops will get hot but does the G14 get exceptionally hot? Where are the hottest locations on the keyboard? Thanks!
It gets the hottest above the keyboard in the middle, but you shouldnt really touch that part anyways The keyboard itself stays really cool, since the fans pull air through the keys on top. So it's actually really comfortable to keep your hands on it. It only gets uncomfortable if you hold it on your lap while gaming, since the hot air gets blown out the back downwards, so your knees will get pretty warm after a while. But in normal use, it never really gets uncomfortable :)
Hi, it seems like you did measure the G14 in the highest powerprofile, but with the Transcend 14 you didnt give it the additional 15W TGP powershare. This is enabled via the software under the performance presets "advanced settings". This gives the device a boost of around 20% in 3Dmark (10k gpu score) and gaming performance. The gap inbetween the T14 and the G14 should be around 10% then.
I just cannot understand why the silver g14 is not available in my country with 32gb ram and a 4070, hek its not even available with 32/ 4060..... I DONT UNDERSTAAAND
in my opinion i had the g14 for about 3 months and i had to return it becuase of how damn hot it would get i was playing valorant on low settings and for some reason i was getting 96 degrees celcius!
Sad to see one of my most favorite laptops lose like that but I totally understand why. I did find the HP omen for $1050.00 open box at bestbuy and decided to buy it. It was between that or the Asus (which I must admit is pretty) but it made more sense going for the one that was about 700 off
For 1050 that is absolutely an amazing deal :D The only reason I didn't give the Omen 14 a recommendation is because the G14 exists. By itself, it's a VERY nice laptop, IF you can find it for the right price. And you did, so enjoy it :))
Scrap that, i see that i turned the names around 💀 The G14 has a 10 bit screen, and the Omen 14 has 8 bit. I'll put a disclaimer up HAHA, thanks for telling me :)
Thank you for the amazing comparison! I have experienced Geforce Now just recently and looking for a laptop with a great screen and at least a 4060 with in it, for the case that a game i want to play is not supported by GFN. Among all the options I have researched, these two remain. In my country(Asia) a G14(R7 8845hs + 4060) costs almost the same as the Omen(U9 185h + 4060)=ca. 1500USD. And the thing is, for the future I would actually like my laptop to have Thunderbolt for egpy connection in the future and the highest wifi option as well. So at the moment as Omen has both of them the decision is rough for me😅 The G14 which I am looking at has not the 8945hs but better speakers, better display with 10bit(+I dont see myself so much because of the glossy screen) and ghelper is just better than the omen hub. I want to hear your opinion what would you have gone with if this was the case?
If they're the same price, I would always go with the G14 due to it being better in most areas. The displays on these 2 are 99% identical, so I'd still go for the G14 if that were a priority :)
@crimsontechyt Thx for your opinion! It helps me a lot to decide for one I would get end of the year! (Maybe could just wait for Lunar lake as well haha) keep up the good work!
hey @Crimson Tech I was wondering if the g14 is warm in light use as compared to the hp omen. Also in the uk the g14 is priced at 2,400 pounds whereas the hp omen is priced at 1800 pounds. Is it worth it to pay 600 more for the g14? considering that it heats up more in light use than the omen.
The G14 hovers around 45-55 degrees under light use, in which case it basically stays silent. The Omen is about the same, but it WILL have more audible fan noise (slightly). At 1800 and 2400 it is pretty tough... the G14 would be worth it if it was cheaper (like 2000 maybe), but at 2400, idk :/ I REALLY dont like the software the Omen has, and the fact that the 4070 is kneecapped, but I think it *is* worth it over the G14 at that price :)
@mohammedarsh7161 Yes, since the GPU wont be turned on until it needs to (heavy loads). 45 is while basically doing nothing though. It's more around 50-55 while you're actually doing something
Great comparision, but the conclusion seems doesn't fit your obesrvation as they're all well-built laptops with different design, instead of only the perfomrance being compared. And the pricing, Idk if it's differed by location, OMEN seems chearper.
So if you live in Euro better take G14 But if you live in South East Asia Think Twice How about liquid metal? In the future Can you repaste liquid metal with asus left over liquid metal? Or better purchase new one? Or repaste with carbon Thermal paste? if you planning to clean your fan? Or can we cleaning asus fan without open the Heatpipe?
thing is you really can't really do much anyways with those power limits because the charger is USB C and thus is capped at 130w. If it had a normal barrel charger that wouldn't be a problem, but there physically isn't any way to get more power to the device.
Asus g14 has better build ,better speakers ,better performance ,better battery and better webcam+microphone which is underrated. yeah! g14 wins by a margin.
i regret buying the omen 14 .. u cannot download and watch yt per exemple is extremely laggy .. fans run close to max all the time .. i’l definitely sell it and buy the g14
Dude does this omen 14 not worth the price ?? I ordered it with 16gb 1tbssd RTX 4060 version price at 1775USD. I'm a casual gamer just needed a 14 inch laptop with oled display and a powerful graphic card (Basically beautiful display good build and alot of power which can handle heavy tasks) under 2000USD. Got my eyes on this one so i thought its a good laptop. Plus at bestbuy people were complaining about g14s thermal throttling that it turn off while gaming or performing heavy tasks So thats why picked omen over g14. There are all omen 14 sponsored reviews so im a bit confused right now should i cancel it and go with some other laptop considering MBP m3pro ik it will cost over 2000USD. Actually im a developer i do app development and never been to any mac device so didn't pick mac at first. I can't get it returned I asked someone who's coming from US to buy it for me so what i get I'll have to keep it and i don't want my single penny to be wasted on something that is not worth.
Laptops turning off while gaming is not normal, so the people experiencing that have defective devices (bad luck xd). The Omen 14 is by no means a bad laptop, but the G14 2024 is simply better for the price. I would NOT recommend getting a Macbook if you've never worked on MacOS, since learning it is a pain in the ass, and you'll be missing a lot of versatility if you change platforms. Check out how much a 2024 G14 would cost for you. If it's around the same price (or cheaper), try to get that one.
the g14s sound is amazingly 3x better than the OH MAN!s speakers. I still prefer the g14 over any 14 inch gaming laptop (i dont want my mom to see flashy keys because i told her it's a "laptop for school" wink wink) and also the OH MANs fans are SO LOUD for christ sake

Which site and what is the coupon @vancentyoube3718
@@crimsontechyt R 1.7 L (2,125 USD)
Hmmm that's a tough one. I think the slightly higher cost of the G14 is still worth it, since you're getting a more powerful GPU (The 4070 in the Omen performs like a 4060), and the build quality is better.
But it depends on your budget, and item availability of course
I love your videos man! I hope you will become big because you deserve it!
Thank you! :D
what display is brighter? omen or zephyrus? Thanks!
They're identical in terms of max brightness :)
can there any software to make the power consumption uncapped?
hey, ive heard about asus laptops being unreliable.
As long as your retailer has a return policy, there's no real risk in trying it anyways :)
Just remember to fully stress test it, and test it for any defects within the return period.
Hello Crimson,
Is holand cheaper than Germany when you wanna buy Asus?
And what time do you think this machine gets cheaper? Where will you recommend me look for deals in holland ?
It's about the same in terms of prices, but keep in mind the german keyboard layout is slightly different than the Dutch/International one. German retailers may have more aggressive deals coming up though, so look out :o
This holiday is def the cheapest time for it, since RTX 50 GPUs are coming out in 2025, and laptops may follow.
In Holland it's probably the cheapest either from the official Asus webstore with a deal, or from Alternate.nl :)
The omen has a clearance sale right now for 1822 euro, but still not sure its worth it...
1822 is still too much imo
In just CPU workloads, it does. But during gaming, it does heat up to around 85-90 degrees, like any gaming laptop.
@@crimsontechyt i have one more question .. how much ram does the windows 11 eat on omen 14 ?
It really depends on how much RAM the laptop comes with. If you have one with 16GB, Windows will use about 4-5GB. If you have 32GB, it will use around 5-6.
This is just Windows pre-allocating RAM, so it shouldn't be an issue unless you play VERY RAM intensive games (like Rust).
I bought the HP with the 4070 and 32 GB of RAM today for €1700, compared to the Asus which costs €2499. The Asus is better, but not enough to justify an extra €700. My 2 cents.
Great choice! That's a LOT of money for the G14 xd
Where are you getting those prices from? The HP is like 700 quid cheaper here!
What do you mean by "supposedly" adds more cooling abilities. Does omen not cool properly ?
It definitely does! But it never uses all that overkill cooling, since the system is so bottlenecked by power limits.
It's a shame that such a nice cooling system is wasted with such bottlenecks.
@@crimsontechytwait so doesn’t that mean it cools even better than?? Sure it maybe underperforming but is it cool?
Great video 😊
Thank you! :D
@crimsontechyt I just bought the G14 a week ago and it has been great. I still have armory crate on it but I might switch it to the G one. I have an Alienware M18 as well (which I will probably be getting rid of.) We will see. Keep up the good work.
great review!
Thank you! :)
Love tht honest review and side by side comparison!
In terms of temperature, how hot/uncomfortable does the G14 get after awhile? I know all gaming laptops will get hot but does the G14 get exceptionally hot? Where are the hottest locations on the keyboard? Thanks!
It gets the hottest above the keyboard in the middle, but you shouldnt really touch that part anyways
The keyboard itself stays really cool, since the fans pull air through the keys on top. So it's actually really comfortable to keep your hands on it.
It only gets uncomfortable if you hold it on your lap while gaming, since the hot air gets blown out the back downwards, so your knees will get pretty warm after a while.
But in normal use, it never really gets uncomfortable :)
Hi,
it seems like you did measure the G14 in the highest powerprofile, but with the Transcend 14 you didnt give it the additional 15W TGP powershare. This is enabled via the software under the performance presets "advanced settings". This gives the device a boost of around 20% in 3Dmark (10k gpu score) and gaming performance. The gap inbetween the T14 and the G14 should be around 10% then.
Oof, i did not know that. Thanks for telling me!
But damn, that should def be enabled by default xd
So he forgot +15 watt GPU
But still if he turn it on how much TGP can the gpu use? 65watt or 80 watt?
@@Azure_KilluX 65W is the TGP, without the powershare 50W.
I just cannot understand why the silver g14 is not available in my country with 32gb ram and a 4070, hek its not even available with 32/ 4060..... I DONT UNDERSTAAAND
Asus' regional availability is very frustrating 🥲
in my opinion i had the g14 for about 3 months and i had to return it becuase of how damn hot it would get i was playing valorant on low settings and for some reason i was getting 96 degrees celcius!
Assuming you were playing on a table, yeah those are WAY too high temps. Might've been a defective unit 🥲
@@crimsontechyt did you test valorant or any other games what did you get?
@@sh4ba I tested more demanding games that were both CPU and GPU intensive, and they're usually hovering around the 80-85 degrees max
@@crimsontechyt do you think a cooling pad would be good becuase i was just testing it again and i hit 96 lol
@sh4ba 96 really isnt normal for a CPU or GPU... 90 is the max that you should be expecting out of this, even if it's being choked
Sad to see one of my most favorite laptops lose like that but I totally understand why. I did find the HP omen for $1050.00 open box at bestbuy and decided to buy it. It was between that or the Asus (which I must admit is pretty) but it made more sense going for the one that was about 700 off
For 1050 that is absolutely an amazing deal :D
The only reason I didn't give the Omen 14 a recommendation is because the G14 exists. By itself, it's a VERY nice laptop, IF you can find it for the right price.
And you did, so enjoy it :))
Is the g14 display only 8 bit?
Yes, not that i noticed it before haha :)
@@crimsontechyt it just said 10 bit in the display tab you showed, so i was abit confused.
Scrap that, i see that i turned the names around 💀
The G14 has a 10 bit screen, and the Omen 14 has 8 bit.
How would the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 14" Oled compare to these?
I've been trying to get my hands on one, but they're kinda hard to come by around here, so I haven't been able to test it yet 🥲
hey @Crimson Tech I was wondering if the g14 is warm in light use as compared to the hp omen.
At 1800 and 2400 it is pretty tough... the G14 would be worth it if it was cheaper (like 2000 maybe), but at 2400, idk :/
I REALLY dont like the software the Omen has, and the fact that the 4070 is kneecapped, but I think it *is* worth it over the G14 at that price :)
@@crimsontechyt thank you very much! And the temperatures are 45 degrees for the CPU right?
@mohammedarsh7161 Yes, since the GPU wont be turned on until it needs to (heavy loads).
45 is while basically doing nothing though. It's more around 50-55 while you're actually doing something
they have changed the hp omen gpu to 115 watts
Why would anyone buy the omen? Its usually more expensive, the Gpu is gimped, less port
Its cheaper than g14
Hp is more serviceable and reliable than asus
@prashant23051991 hahahhahahha 🤡
I need more videos like this, thx
Can you please do a valorant game fps comparison for both when charging and while normal
Great comparision, but the conclusion seems doesn't fit your obesrvation as they're all well-built laptops with different design, instead of only the perfomrance being compared. And the pricing, Idk if it's differed by location, OMEN seems chearper.
They're both definitely amazing laptops! But if the better laptop is cheaper and has better performance, there's no real reason to buy the other one
So if you live in Euro better take G14
But if you live in South East Asia
Think Twice
How about liquid metal?
In the future
Can you repaste liquid metal with asus left over liquid metal?
Or better purchase new one? Or repaste with carbon Thermal paste? if you planning to clean your fan?
Or can we cleaning asus fan without open the Heatpipe?
As i know, g14 doesn't have liquid metal. It is used only in 4080 and 4090 versions of g16
Awesome review. What was the song you used to test the audio?
Thank you! :)
The song is Sunset Drive - Future Joust
Great comparison! Are you selling either of these? My computer just went toast, so I'd gladly pay a deserving amount.
I like the omen design...
So cute...
It is VERY good looking :D
I personally chose the transcend 14 because it was on a great deal.
now we need to see some overclocking for the HP Omen
thing is you really can't really do much anyways with those power limits because the charger is USB C and thus is capped at 130w. If it had a normal barrel charger that wouldn't be a problem, but there physically isn't any way to get more power to the device.
@@Polyeith can it be uncapped? espiecally with gan chargers now we can go bigger with power
@@dd4561 Doesn't seem like it can, The laptop only seems to work with certain chargers in the first place, seems like a physical restriction of sorts.
HP is also full aluminum body; lid is not plastic.
It has an aluminum body, but with a plastic coating on top
according to hp the gpu can go to 115 watts
Where did you read that?

Almost better at everything for the almost same price hmmmmmm
G14 is even cheaper
