- Stoked to share this new SOLO cover I worked on recently! I've always been a fan of Rogue-Like Games for a long time, especially deck builders (and being a trading card game junkie). First few that come to mind are games like: Slay The Spire, Monster Train, Peglin, One Step from Eden, and many more.
When Balatro first got announced, I got the demo and LOVED it, played it a bunch, then forgot about it for a while until it got fully released! Since then I've been playing this game non-stop, but couldn't get over how sick the Main Theme from the game was, I HAD to learn and cover it (might even have DPGN play it sometime soon). This was all recorded live from one of my past twitch streams, I hope you dig this fun version! Everything you see/hear is all my doing: Drums, Keys, Video Editing, Mix/Mastering.

Finally, someone who appreciates just how much of a banger the balatro theme is. The game has only 1. SONG. Some variations of it, sure, but it's so good that i cant get tired of it. Not once has it ever felt too repetitive.
When I was first playing this game when I came out, I literally just listened/jammed to the intro on stream (Twitch) for a good 10-15 minutes. I knew this was a special tune 😂
I swear the fact that its in 7/4 has something to do with it, like it never quite resolves like you typically expect and you don't notice the repetition
@@fdsafdsa-ec5wo The best part though is it FEELS SO NATURAL, which is one of my favorite things about well composed music, especially in odd times. Luis nailed this one!
Never felt repetitive because there are 5 tracks on the OST and they are all grooooooves.
Although the main theme is the slappiest, I like the 3 - celestial very much as well

This feels like an "end credits" version. It's more passionate and lively where it can really take center stage rather than background lofi music that we are used to hearing.

It made an impact on me for dang sure! And I think the best part about it is that it has so many qualities from other Rogue Likes, but it still stands out on it's own!

Balatro is a simple game, executed flawlessly. In my industry if you can do that you will have no sleepless night. Not every game has to be some massive open world amalgamation of bullshit to be immersive.😢
There's always room at the table for more games like Balatro, but we do need to give credit where it's due too! I agree not every game needs to be a big expansive experience, but there's all sorts of people in the world that want to experience something unique at the end of the day.

You gotta hand it to em, there aren’t a lot of games that can do a single song, let alone in 7/4, for the soundtrack and not make it too boring or fatiguing. I’ve played over 100 hours already and I still love it. Your video is awesome! Sounds great and awesome drum chops.

@@DomPalombiMusicSomehow almost all the games I like play a lot with weird time signatures, the Risk of Rain games being a great example, a lot of songs in 2 are in 7/4 and I absolutely love it
I almost feel like 7/4 is the reason that it doesn't become too boring. The constant shift in rhythm makes it really groovy and driving the whole time

Balatro is what happens when someone decides to turn smooth jazz improvisation into a video game. Lots of random, but a running theme of just chilling and playing as long as you can.
This man is the equivalent of a blueprint with polychrome, he played the ost and did it way better

I love this song because it makes such smooth use of 7/8 that I didnt even realize that it was for quite some time, despite 7/8 being my favorite time signature. phenomenal work preserving that feeling here and making the 7/8 feel so natrual.

Programming with this song feels like tapping into the inter-dimensional weave of reality to conjure up arcane machinery beyond ordinary comprehension. I love it!
Sometimes music really does more to us than we realize, but in the best of ways! I'm happy I can be apart of making people feel different feelings through this kind of music, it means a lot!
Although Balatro is one of those few games that I dont mute its music, this cover is too funky to NOT bop to while going through my runs. Keep up the good work dude!

The combination of this groovy as hell, transcendent theme with the visuals of an endless colorful swirling void that all the cards are being dragged into is nothing short of brilliant in my mind.
This cover goes hard! It reminds me a lot of the music for Spelunky HD, specifically the themes for the Mines levels. I wish I could mod it into the game, would make for a great "high ante" theme.
I was hooked when I first heard the theme at the beginning, and it really captivates you into such a deep feeling. Man it would be so killer to have this version for the game 😂

Glad im finally watching after having it recommended like 10 times in the past week. This is slick. I always thought Clemente's track sounded a bit like Chris Christodoulou from the Risk of Rain team (Hoopo).

the original is so repetitive, i'm really happy that someone add a solo in it and i think this is the part of the music that the game needed, thanks for that and hope that you'd enjoyed making it ! (ps: the drumkit impro was very good, i'l put more of those in my future video)

this entire remix is just incredible, from the choice of synths to the talented drumming and that climax, mwah! in particular, there's a really acute sense of pacing here that i don't hear in a lot of music nowadays. the last place i'd expect to hear something of this calibre is a fan remix of a background track in an indie game, but all three of those listed are underrated gems that deserve, and hopefully will get, much more attention. absolutely a remix deserving of a gold stake victory :)
