Kids today have no idea how much fun a single game could be. There were Quake mods that turned you into a plane so you could have aerial dogfights. The amount of modding and customization you could get from the game engine was insane.
Bought my first PC AMD 120, after Commodore, late evening. '96 I believe... All software installed. Headphones. Quake, Duke and Unreal. I was literally shaking for days how it was overflooding my brain with whole experience. I've played maybe 3-4hrs and it was intoxicating.

At 1:32:52 (Wind Tunnels), how do you stop the draft from shooting you into the next tube, rather than land in the roof area where the quad damage is? I've studied this video in slo-mo but there's no indication of how it's done, I've tried using the motion controls and this doesn't slow the speed or change direction. I'm playing on Quakespasm 93.2.

True. I'm currently playing the 2021 version with full raytracing and my mind is being blown again. RT really shows it's strength in this game. The graphics feels like an old school CGI lol. Lightning really makes 90% of realism.

I didn't play Quake. But I spent hours on Quake III. Played early multi-player back then on a dial-up connection.

This is the first walkthrough of this game I've seen on this difficulty level where the health stays at 50.
That was added for the 2021 remaster update. They changed Nightmare difficulty to be identical to Hard except you can’t heal past 50 health.

No half-assed story, no quest markers, no detection meter. put headphones on and play on Nightmare for the full experience.

I forgot to shoot that wall so that nightmare mode activates
@@OrangeBall_HLThe nightmare skill is activated by going through that passage. The bonus on the wall isn't needed to enable nightmare.
