    Any and all driver who fails to yield to a vehicle with lights and sirens activated should receive a citation in the mail for failure to yield. It's the law and these people don't give a damn, maybe a few hundred dollars and a couple of points on their license might change their world view.

I got two tickets for failure to yield to emergency and obstruction of license plate cover. If anyone can tell me how much it will be in pennsylvania please let me know. I live in philadelphia.

    The siren would be helpful to the truck at the end, in his eyes he must've thought that he was being pulled over and you guys were at a stop with him.

  • @EnjoyFirefighting
    @EnjoyFirefighting 8 ปีที่แล้ว +34

    I'm not surprised in some of the situations, approaching from behind and then switch the siren on as they are right behind a vehicle instead of using it all the time ...
    To be honest, I'm happy that here in Germany drivers are required to create an emergency vehicle passing lane on all multilane roads outside the city limits as soon as traffic backs up, not waiting until they notice an emergency vehicle approaching; Would have been useful for situations like in the last clip

    • @blueferral3414

      Then you should also know that at highway speed the siren is essentially useless. Add in how well modern cars are insulated against sound, sound systems, etc. No point in having the siren on when traveling at highway speeds. This is well documented as well as taught in EVOC (emergency vehicle operator course). Google it.

    • @EnjoyFirefighting
      @EnjoyFirefighting 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At those speeds they drive e.g. at 3:07 and driving so close to the vehicle ahead, not keeping a safe distance (yeah exactly how it should not be done). Here the highway speeds range from 37 mph to unlimited, but we keep the sirens on as long as it makes sense and is necessary; Only the slower fire trucks switch the sirens off and stay right in order not to block traffic coming up from behind; only in traffic jams they'll drive between the lanes and switch the sirens on as well. I don't have to google it, I do it on every shift ....

      i guess all drivers has eyes and can spot an police car several hundred meters away... i sure do and move before the police car gets up my ass... those ppl should not have their driving licence still.... if they cant look in their mirror while driving..

    • @taztaz79
      @taztaz79 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah.. but do you think it would work in the US?.. For starters you should improve your driving licence tests.. your yearly car inspections and you should not be allowed to drive in passing lanes when not passing.. you should also never pass on the right side... you can skip 4way stops and use roundabouts too.. i see a lot of improvements US could do to increase the traffic flow.. i dont know why they are not doing it though...

    The cop at 5:19 was confusing people and probably pissing them off. The law says to pull to the right and stop for emergency vehicles. Hiw can these people pull to the right if they're already there? The cop should have been in the second lane.

    Emergency personnel should have a separate lane behind cement and a remote at signals to change to green in their lanes. It’s dangerous enough for them out there now. Being in their vehicles shouldn’t be.

    OK. PLEASE READ: The emergency responders responsibility is to get to the "call " as quickly and safely as possible. It is the drivers responsibility { anyone who hears and sees sirens and lights} to, as quickly and safely as reasonably possible, yield to those sirens and lights. Whatever state you drive in it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to know what is required of you as a licensed driver in that state and react to whatever the situation is accordingly. NOT SURE? Stop by your local police or fire station and ASK! Stop by your DMV and pick up and read a copy of your states, "drivers handbook." Know what to do before it happens. You may be saving a life.

      +Sodiumreactor yer same here.. I think that if they really shoud be heard. cause cars are getting so sound isolated now. Air horns are the way to go.. where I live some of the fire trucks have air horns.. and they are way better than "electronic" sirens

      +Sodiumreactor its hard because their been so many complaints that sirens are often use in commercials on radios and people panic and move over when their not an actuall emergeny vehicle behind them or coming up or even approaching. Most agency are getting a thing what called the Rumbler Siren which allows the siren be more louder, stronger and get the people in the car attention no matter if they are responding lights and sirens, escort, or even doing a traffic stop. Be sure to check it out just type in rumbler siren and you will be surprise what you find.

    • @rowdycogdell7604
      @rowdycogdell7604 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sodiumreactor. I agree with you on it being harder to hear in the rain but, not all emergency vehicles have strobe lights or flashing headlights. The fire department that I am on we don’t have strobe lights or flashing headlights in our fire trucks. We might have to use the hazard lights along with the emergency lights. We have a suburban that is our command vehicle that only has a light bar that is not an LED.bar. Even then some people don’t know how to handle a emergency vehicle.

    I'm surprised at some of these comments. Yes sirens are good, but regardless cops don't run code just for the hell of it. it is very stressful and very dangerous. If they are running code, it is an emergency and other drivers need to get out of the way. For those coming down on the cops for rushing people, just put yourself on the other end of the response- the one needing speedy assistance.

    Themergencyehicle should be to the left in its lane to enable drivers ahead to moreasily see themergency lights in left outside and inside rearview mirrors.
    At highways speeds the siren may not be noticed due to wind and road noise and vehicle radio/stereo.
    The fake air horn is not as loud as the siren tones. A real air horn would be.st but not worthe co$t.
    Drivers traveling athe speed limit may not check their mirrors as much - usually no one will be coming up to them.

    ...........and it doesn't help any if the drivers in the far right hand lane REFUSE to go into the right hand shoulder and come to a complete stop so that any drivers in the interior lanes can get over to the right another lane or two. Some of these drivers in the right hand lane are too stupid to realize that by "staying ahead" of the emergency vehicle they are continuing to make the problem exist.

    5:19 He was doing what he was supposed to do. He is required by law to move right, instead of left. It's the emergency vehicle's responsibility to go to the left.

    • @brugermate
      @brugermate 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The emergency vehicle was in the right lane as it is a turn only lane. Presumably necessary to get to the emergency. Some amount of driver commonsense is required.

    • @MaxZomboni
      @MaxZomboni 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The law is very clear. "Immediately drive to a position parallel to and as close as possible to the right-hand edge or curb of the roadway clear of any intersection; and stop and remain standing until the authorized emergency vehicle has passed." That is what he did. If you don't like the law, then get it changed, but that is the law. That driver did nothing wrong.

      @louisvilleguitarguy 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have to agree with Max. Although in certain situations, it would make sense for drivers to pull left to get out of the way, the law clearly tells drivers to always move right. When I respond Code 3, I make it a point to never pass vehicles on the right, for liability reasons. I will use oncoming lanes (after clearing them of course) before passing a vehicle on the right, because if the driver I'm passing suddenly hears my siren and instinctively pulls right and hits me, it would be my fault for passing on the right.

    • @Sahadi420
      @Sahadi420 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      What law are you citing???? I've never heard, "you must get right". There are many times when cars in, say the left turn lane get further left, and allow the emergency vehicle to go to the right of them, through the turn lane.
      You ever seen an ambulance come up the middle of a two lane (going the same way) highway, with both lanes getting to the shoulder, allowing the ambulance the whole middle of the road?? There is no law stating "you must get right".
      Here is what the National Safety Commission has to say about it: "In your lane - If an emergency vehicle is approaching in your lane, pull over to the *nearest edge* of the roadway and clear an opening. Seconds count in an emergency situation and any delay could be deadly to the persons requiring aid."
      Nothing about "getting right".
      You're welcome.

    Some law enforcement feel that because they are driving in front of someone it gives them the right to climb up your behind, If your going to climb up someones ass like these cops did at least think about the car in front since a majority there is no sirens or it can be difficult for the front driver to move because there maybe another car in the lane and it is not safe to move.. Cops feel but driving up your ass you will be intimidated to move well I have seen some people who are not scared of a cop behind them..

  • @Deevs09
    @Deevs09 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    In my state you would have a nice fine and possible jail time. Any vehicle police, fire, ambulance, and towing you must move over and yield, and if they are on the side of the road you must move over and reduce your speed.

    In my opinion
    Its not really about drivers not know how to use rear view mirror and side mirrors... ITS NOT EVERYSECOND THEY EXPECT A DOUCHE POLICE CAR turn their lights on from behind. Turning the lights is not enough as its hard to see specially in day light. Unless you turn on your Siren at max volume then they will hear your right behind their ass and start looking at their mirrors.
    Together with your "police" lights, your supposed to turn on your Siren as well (and honk if its a big emergency).
    Just turning on your Lights won't do specially when your in that type of high way where everyone is running at high speed.
    Trying to test if the cars will yield for you just by turning your lights on is "Dumb". There is a reason why there is also an onboard Siren and for you to be able to honk.
    Drivers are focused on looking ahead and they sill use rear view mirror and side mirrors only if they have to do something that requires the need to watch whats behind. But ye USE THE SIREN.
    And how are you going to get the right of way on a road that is packed with cars like sardines in a can... come on.
    No offence but the video don't feel like showing how distracted the drivers really are, more of like you trying to show of your power as a Cop.

      Umm...yea...a driver should be watching in all directions. Are you making excuses for people driving unaware of their surroundings and are not prepared for the unexpected? So many things wrong w what you said.
      I was almost rear ended waiting to enter a rotary last week. I didnt need to but i CHECKED MY MIRRORS in case something unexpected happened, saw the car coming up fast, pulled forwards 10 feet and the vehicle skidded to stop in the space i just occupied. True story bro.

    And this is why I am not a LEO. I would pit maneuver all. There needs to be a camera device attached on LEO vehicle to snap licence plate and mail them a ticket. Interfering with a police chase etc.....if they can photo shoot tags from bridges they could do this. Totally ignorant on drivers in this video. But I bet 1st to yell it took to long to get emergency personal to them if needed. Man in black pick up needed to be arrexted
