My late father was 2nd battalion Scots Guards. He stood outside Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle and Tower of London, I love the photos of him in his uniform and he served in Malaysia Singapore and Germany a d was sent out for suez crisis. I followed him into service in 1976 until 1991. It's a fantastic vocation. Xx
Thank you for your and your father's service.
Sounds like your very proud of your father and also your time in the service
Thank you for your service and your father too 🫡
Ty for your father and yourself for your service. Xx My grandad was in the Royal Horse Artillery Regiment and fought in the first world war.
My brother was in 1st battalion Scots guards &. I too was always proud to see him in uniform. However we must still remain to realise they were serving the country in battles too.
So few things to be truly proud about in my country in 2023.... but this is one of them.
The times are changing so rapidly nowadays, I sincerely hope our Military will never, ever be interfered with & be forced to change.
@@sharonjojo I so agree but I fear the rot has already set in at the top.
@@itsbrilliant-bt8sv Sadly I do see that happening.
Why?
I'll ask again - "Why?". Why "truly proud" of your / our country because it takes 350 soldiers (and 250 horses) to have ten private soldiers / troopers standing in ceremonial uniform to have their photo taken by tourists?
Personally I'd prefer to be proud of having a working NHS, a respected police force, and a competent and capable military, none of which we have any longer.
to ALL who come to see these Soldiers, Please Respect these Amazing Men and Women and know the Horse is a Soldier too who are NOT there for your Disrespectful and Exhausting behavior !
The tourists are getting worse, no control, ignorance, no respect and the chatta chatta in the background while these guards are working.. plain disgusting and a disgrace 😠
Couldn’t Agree More this Beautiful place is way out of control with Disrespectful people to the King’s Guards & Horses.Something needs to be DONE be about people needing to be Respectful when they see these Fine Excellent King’s Guards on Duty
I totally agree. There should be a call for stricter rules and clear areas of where tourists are allowed to stand. They are almost climbing over each other to capture that 'perfect video/photo clip'.
I think that some people forget that these soldiers are ON DUTY! Not a sideshow for them to take videos of.
Unfortunately respect is taught from a young age and that hasn't happened for the past 30 years. Children are brought up being entitled these days 😠
They should stop allowing tourists to be so close to the horses and guards. Nothing is being gained by the aggrevation.
@@ralphbourke5473 - Good point!
I am so proud of our Military..............thank you for your service and dedication to the UK as for the tourists !!!!
Ya, only problem is most of the tourist's money goes to the monarch and not the UK Government. Good news is the smaller % does trickle down to the local restaurants and cheap gift stores. God live the king, best of luck to the rest of you!
The guards could make better use of them nice big swords that they carry....

Tourists are just cockroaches.............
And I would like to say thank you UK military to always fight side by side with us here in the US. I really love our special relationship!
No one tops the UK when it comes to ceremonial military activities. (When it comes to your country's support for the paltry UK military budget, it should be a national embarrassment - unless you want Russian to be your primary language in the not-too-distant future.)
That was a great inspection. The tourist got to see how real professional handle inspections of elite Squadron of Horse Guards.
Makes me feel very proud to be English. Hate the disrespect of some visitors.
Such pageantry, precision, and tradition... It's really quite beautiful to watch! Thank you 😊
Ya, as long as your not the horse
@@ralphbourke5473 Well, I could see being around all those noisy tourists could make a horse a bit skittish... But as opposed to a working horse on a ranch in Wyoming, I'm sure the horses of the Royal Guard have it pretty good! 🙂
They're really well looked after, highly trained war horses who get the best of everything even a beach holiday every year, there are videos on TH-cam of them at full gallop on the beach and just rolling around in the sand. It's fantastic to watch ❤❤❤❤❤
Yes indeed Timothy!
We're very good at pomp & ceremony. Even our funerals have an air of downtown abby. I went to a funeral with my American ex mom in law while I was visiting, a bit of emotional support. I was horrified! What happened to sombre and respectful. Funeral staff were having a loud conversation and laughing!
The tourists should not be this close,I find it mind blowing that this is allowed to be honest,an attack waiting to happen!
I think you are right!
The place is down the road from number 10 Downing Street. The police are armed with sub machine guns. Plus, the Lifeguards themselves 2 squadrons armed to the teeth. And a level of surveillance that is high.
@@simplesimon5739
Where there is a will there's a way. It's not that many years ago that the IRA lobbed a couple of mortars onto the gardens at the back of number ten.
The Tory party conference hotel in Brighton also was bombed. Mountbatonwas blown to bits off the west coast of Ireland.
As I say, where there is a will ..........
I totally agree.. 👍 the world has gone crazy...
Some trivia, all the Household Cavalry Helmets are hand made by two men,one being John Davis, they are all made by eye and part of the tools as a Blacksmiths Elm dating back to 1655.
Thank you for this information. Little bits of history not known to everyone yet quite significant. ❤
@@littleredwitch There is a great Documentary on the BBC iplayer about what it took to get all the Uniforms ready for the Coronation and has the History behind it.Its called Coronation Tailors:Fit for a King.
Wow, thanks for that information. So interesting. Who knew? Thanks again 👍
+Not quite "all" - Firmin & Sons make all the NEW helmets and repair the old ones, but HCMR still use plenty made by them that pre-date John Davis.
@@janerichman3100 Umm... anyone who reads the Sun or watched the BBC ...😂
Ban the tourists or fence off the guard
tired of ignorant tourists
Totally agree with you they used to piss me off in the 1980's
They earned their uniforms. This is not decoration or tradition. These are soldiers in duty with extensive training. I always have high respect for them.
Respect.
Makes me so proud to watch wonderful serving soldiers god bless them
I feel so proud to be British, we owe everything to our soldiers.❤
The timing of these guards is spot on. Even the horses are in time.
Respect and discipline. Two qualities lost in this world. I thank you for your dedicated service.
I wonder who teaches them to shout? The crowds are unbelievably disrespectful. This soldiers are real not play acting
All soldiers learn drill, including giving words of command, during recruit or officer cadet training. As they move up through the ranks, NCOs will have further training and practice on various courses, particularly if they become drill instructors.
Very smart and makes you proud 👏 to be British
As I've asked elsewhere, "why"? Why does 15 soldiers wearing ceremonial dress, however smartly, which it takes 350 soldiers to supply for only a few hours every day, make you "proud to be British"? I used to be "proud to be British" when I thought we had a working NHS that was the envy of others, a respected police force, an Army that was twice the size of the current one with way better recruiting, retention and morale, and a government that while I may not have agreed with I at least respected as trying to do what was best for the country, not themselves. Now I'm ashamed of what we have, and this doesn't do much to change that. So - "why"?
@@2345bcde No what "shows the state of our country now" is that this is all we have to be proud of. Lacquer on doggy-doo, with an Army that quantifiably has the lowest recruiting, retention and morale it's ever had. How seriously sad can that be? If the money spent on making new uniforms for the King's Coronation Parade had instead been spent on supplying the troops in Afghanistan with improved body armour and better vehicles earlier, then far fewer would have come home in a body bag or with missing limbs, and the families of the dead wouldn't have had to sue the MoD for failing to protect and prepare them properly - how can that make you "proud to be British"?
I’m from US and this makes me so very proud of the UK. Just AWESOME! And I agree the people that walk through are so very disrespectful.
@@John-G Why? Because we are rightly very proud of our traditions and history? Not many have such ceremony going back to the 1660s.. Strange how the vast majority of tourists are the ones crowding the streets and it seems to be the country where very many seek to live? We aren't perfect and I agree about NHS failings *but we have much to be very thankful for.
I think the tourists are lucky they get to witness all this. It could be private. Remember folks be respectful. We would expect it here as well. They are Kings Guards not an exhibition
The handles of those swords are beautiful! Such beautiful pageantry!
Thank you for your service and be safe
Son maravillosos gracias por estos videos recién por ti conozco la guardia que País hermoso uruguay❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for the pageantry and professionalism. As a woman Vietnam Era Navy WAVE Veteran I proudly salute you.
I like that frock coat that Captain's wearing.
I am proud to watch the discipline and precision demonstrated here.
The Guards are awesome
Incredible, Well Done 👍 to all the Service People and The Fabulous Horses 🐴 👍👌👏👏👏👏👏👏
So proud of our military. I love watching these TH-cam videos. They are so disciplined it’s such a shame they and the horses are subjected to so many tourists being disrespectful every day 😢
Perfect drill, a pleasure to watch!
when did the boss deal with tourists, seem to have missed that part ?
The "boss" wasn't there, what he saw was a member of the Household Cavalry with a spur badge on his sleeve, generally worn above any rank insignia on the right hand sleeve.
It denotes that he's a riding instructor (aka a rough rider)
Now a defunct role, as such, but used as an appointment. The spur badge worn by rough riders and is also worn by riding instructors in The Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery
@@Wabbit_HuntaSorry, but apart from the badge that's nonsense. He's a Warrant Officer so his rank's very clearly shown by the very obvious, heavily embroidered epaulettes, similar to the officers'. There are other differences like the aiguillettes / shoulder cords (left shoulder for H Cav NCOs and WO's, right shoulder for officers), but you can't miss the epaulettes and the more shoulder cords, the higher the rank. Riding instructor isn't a "defunct" role at all, but a qualification like a sniper or PT instructor. I can't even guess where you got "rough riders" from - this isn't the US and that term hasn't been used for a long time.
I'm still looking, also.
Tourists should not be so close to Soldiers and Horses.
Ring them up and tell them

Tourists are just cockroaches.............
Agree 💯.
I agree
This boss looks like our favorite “friendly guard”
I side eyed him too because he looks familiar but our guy is shorter and is in the Blues and Royals
So proud of all our military from the cook whose gob is so important to the top thank you for protecting us
Have the tourists always been this bad? I cant imagine Queen Elizabeth putting up with rude tourists disrespecting her guards 💜

Tourists are just cockroaches.............
I absolutely love our Guards 💂♂️ ❤️ they deserve more Respect from the tourists.
Very proud of our troops ,thank you ❤
Simply love this...now for the whole society to follow this. Maybe not in strict military regulations, or military outfit, but the 'essence': living by respectful rules and follow inevitable orders, purely based upon equally and social human respect. Love from 🇳🇱
At last TOURISTS in check. Just got to address their sniggering and provocation now.
Snickering
No its sniggering !!
I should think that the tourist think that this is just for show but it isn't.
If it's not "just for show", then what is it for? 😂
@@John-G I read somewhere, a long time ago, that this is known as the "4 O'clock Punishment Parade" because, once upon a time, Queen Victoria found some guards to be drunk on duty, and swore that it should never happen again. Apparently, it is no longer a necessity but has evolved into a "tradition."
@@redhatpat9387 Correct, 1894 for 100 years. It continues as public duties as a dismount parade - technically the late Queen's decision.
The whole idea of pageantry and ceremonial duties is exactly that, for show.
I love watching this it gives me a sense of peace and admiration for these young men and women along with being able to admire your beautiful horses thank you for your service and may God Bless each one of you
I don't know who this Boss is, but, he's absolutely gorgeous! A lot of the Troopers in the Life Guards are so I've noticed since they returned from their break! Hope we we him again!
I went into the Royal Navy officer training when I was 36 years old my drill display was the stuff of legend so my commanding officer told me lol my marching defied the laws of physics and timing , watching these guards make it look so easy always makes me chuckle and appreciate the skill. I missed the boat with this skill. These tourists and a bloody menace with their entitled behaviour and lack of respect.
I noticed the helmet he was wearing was beautifully polished I think the Captain was well impressed with him and the Troopers. I'm not surprised. Wonderful to see.
A pity he didn't pay more attention to his cross belt, which was in bad order for a WO2.
Guards did a great job as always, and the police was primed and ready to jump in and protect especially the one sat on the chain and the other lent against the wall.
❤❤❤love the red thank you for bringing it back 😊my heroes ❤
O wow really enjoyed that, thank you for sharing this, liked the horses expression one face, did someone just touched me at the side 😊
Why do I get the feeling we have become a entertainment for tourists and our wonderful guards and horses just actors. Remember when I was young my parents took us to the park then to Horse Guards and no touching of horses and respect for our soldiers who to us were respected service men.
Why? Because it's public duties. It's their job.
Love the pomp and ceremony. So magnificent.
Some great close ups 👌 thanks 😊
Absolute class. Total respect for them
Now that was great, really enjoyed this video, will consider subscribing if they done orderly.
So when did he deal with the public himself?
that 1st guard...OMG gorgeous
My father was USAF, 8th Air Force, SAC maintenance wing during the polar orbit during the Cold War ('50-'73)
He always appreciated these gentlemen
11:40 is where it looks like the “boss” is telling the tourists to move back
It wasn`t the "Boss", the Boss is the officer that came on to do the inspection.
Well, he's the guard commander of a Long Guard. That's his job.
Are all the horses the same breed? They look similar and really stunning! I'm also amazed at how well behaved they are, mostly. How difficult must it be to not bring that sworn down hard when those ignorant tourist clowns grab the horse reins!? I know I probably couldn't do it, sitting there twitching all day thinking you're going to lob some clowns hand off...... nah, hats off to these dudes!!
I do like it when the horses have a wee nibble at them, when they get too close! lol Did anyone see the one with the drunk dude with a grey furry contraption on? lol Geeze oh, I'm really not sure how the guy thought that was going to go down. FaF though. 🍻
The horses are Irish draught thoroughbred cross , the Household Cavalry purchase them at 3/4 years old then train them . The duty in the box is for 1 hour then changed over , the horse is then finished for the day the Trooper goes on to do footguard duties .If you Google Household Cavalry there's a lot of information and some behind the scenes videos .
Some serious guards .💂♀️
The reason why tourists treat the soldiers and horses like a petting zoo is because they allow them to be spectators
Exactly.
The reason is because it's their job.
Not there to be friendly
It's because Britain is not a communist dictatorship, but a democratic regime, where authority is seen and accessible and the people are involved in the running of the country. That's why.
@@rachelm7525 Seriously? The reason why "tourists treat the soldiers and horses like a petting zoo" is "because Britain is not a communist dictatorship, but a democratic regime, where authority is seen and accessible and the people are involved in the running of the country"? There's not really any sort rational response to anything quite that bizarre.
Pure awesome!
Thank you .👍it makes you so proud .👍.and the tourists !!!!!!
The bosses black coat and red stripe looks sharp.
🫣🤣brown Horse at 9:10 minute..thinking.."why the Heck your slapping me so hard"...horse looks 3 times not amused over his shoulder🤣
The "slap", it doesn't hurt them either, is simply to make the horse aware that they're dismounting, so the horse doesn't make any sudden moves when they're doing so.
@@Wabbit_Hunta i know for sure the guards love their horses and would never do anything to hurt them. i was just kidding..the "slap"sounded harder on my device then the horse would feel . however that moment hilariously the horse looked over his right shoulder..the side were he was touched..just making a joke.
i love watching this YT videos. its magnificent to watch the well clothed handsome guards and beautifull strong horses much respect for everything they have to endure with the tourists
It’s funny how the police and the army have to guard the guards.
I can only think,of one word----stunning 🏴🏴
Military doing fine work. Copper leaning on the chain rail like it's a Sunday afternoon picnic.
I saw more of the guards they have some pretty impressive automatic weapons that are kinda scary looking.
Can't imagine, as a Queen's Guard, having to put up with the tourists. It must be miserable for them.
Don’t they look smashing so pristine love the guards and officer looks magnificent and quite a handsome chap
God. Bless all are kings guards well done proud of you all xxx
This is my favorite video so far !! the uniforms and all the ceremony .So gorgeous ! so would take pictures of the horses without me in the pic . Thank you SO Much for your videos especially when you tell us the names of the horses .
Uniforms and drill perfect. Meanwhile doors need paint and wall bases crumbling from neglect
Ooh i love the barking of orders
I'm trying to guess what the officer's rank is - major, maybe? He looks very dashing.
Captain. Three pips.
@@robbrownfield7677 Thank you, I'll remember that.
It’s disappointing how chaotic it is
Which part was chaotic?
I think the crowds should be kept behind the bollards. There's an accident waiting to happen.
Many of these tourists lack any form of respect!
I love the pageantry!
Such dedication by the guards and disrespect by the entitled tourists. It’s shameful
Love it guards look great. Love it.
I must be losing my vision, because I didn't see anyone controlling tourist.
The soldiers make the police look scruffy !
That's because the police are scruffy. They dress like paramilitaries in a banana republic
"Marching with the Sergeant Major up and down the square...March".
thanks for posting.
Much Respect from across the pond!
He returned swords twice!
I am just asking why the tourist are stupid? The guards have sabers and guns, I am an American and I thank you for your service over there,
God speed
I may have British ancestors, and I still don't understand what the guard is doing. But I know it's not Disneyland. I just wish the tourists would show respect and realise it's not a show just for them.
It is "a show just for them". That's why it's called 'Public Duties' - its for the public.
@John-G If they were just fluff, they could have hired red coats from Butlins.
Or Barnum and Bailey's. They are a real military unit many try to get in
@@chuckmaddison2924 I'm not suggesting they're "fluff" or not "a real military unit", simply explaining what the guard are doing as you said i) that you "don't understand what the guard is doing" and ii) that "it's not a show just for them" [tourists] . HCMR's role is "Public Duties and State Ceremonial" - that's their only role, as specifically laid down by the MoD and Army in "Future Soldier", part of the Strategic Defence Review, last updated in November 2021. It has no other role. None. What they're doing at Horseguards is called Public Duties, which are ceremonial (non operational) duties for the benefit of the public (State Ceremonial covers events like Trooping the Colour, the Coronation and State Funerals).
IT IS "A SHOW JUST FOR THEM" - that's not just my view, but it's the official policy, which you can read for yourself as it's open source.
As for "many try to get in", H Cav recruiting is on a par with the rest of the Army which currently has the worst recruiting, retention and morale it's ever had - not just my view, again, but confirmed by the official stats which are published in the Annual and Quarterly Personnel Reports, also open source. Last year recruiting dropped by 30%, year on year, and 50% more left than joined.
@John-G I honestly thought they were a protection service for the family.
Stand in their way they will march over you . There is no tolerance for stupid public.
I know with our SAS, many soldiers fail trying to get in.
@@chuckmaddison2924 "Honestly"? Seriously? The Royal family are protected by SO14, the Royal Protection Group, part of the Metropolitan Police - nothing to do with the Army or the MoD Police (the armed police at Horseguards). The problem here is seldom a "stupid public" but the military failing to do it's job of directing the public.
On a separate note, 'Yes,' many fail selection for SAS and SF but the number of Special Forces has close to doubled in the last few decades while the size of the Army has halved: one of the many, many reasons why morale, retention and recruiting are so bad. You shouldn't need to be Einstein to realise that if you take away more of the First XI to join SF, SFSG, and Rangers, etc, from a smaller Army, then the Second XI take over from the First XI and the Third XI who would never have got anywhere before take over from the Second XI so everybody else suffers, gets hacked off, and goes.
Why is this all performed around so much close public activity?
My favorite part of all these videos:
"MAKE WAY FOR THE QUEEN'S GUARD!!"
_SNOWPLOW!!!!_
So Many are saying what a great Day out with Viewing Guards 💂 Horses.
So why is there so Much disrespect for them when Pics are being taken, Soldiers walking to do their Duty.

TOURISTS HAVEN'T EARNED THE RIGHT TO TOUCH THOSE HORSES.
the guards look lovely n smart and the police look like they just ram raided primark and fell out of bed :) lol
Smirking disrespectful tourists, hope u r proud of yourselves
Arrogance had no boundaries. Try doing this in their country and see what happens. Both Britain and the USA are disrespected by entitled tourists.
I must have been daydreaming. I didn't see the BOSS step in and deal with any tourists.
The way some of the ladies look at the guards 👀
I don't know whom of those people or tourists they're can get close to see The King Guard of England like this..on video
Thank you 🙏
The current public is now so disrespectful, entitled, and playing for the camera that it has come time to change the way these guards are treated. There should be a wide boundary painted on the concrete that the public should not cross. No reason at all for the horses to be petted or touched. A metal stand and velvet rope boundary would look even better if it isn't a hazard for the horse. These young men and women soldiers and their horses are now endangered way too often.
My ex was a second Battalion Coldstream Guard he left the service so he could marry me. He should have stayed in he loved it but his feeling were it was no life for a married man.
Anybody seen Arnie since they have come back?
I love when they do the satute with the swords ❤❤
Tourists. Leave the soldiers alone. Stay out of their way, and give them the respect they deserve. They are not there for your entertainment. Take your pictures from afar. Good grief...
Would love to witness in person!
