Most people should join the franchise. Lawn care has a very low barrier to entry and for many of us it is our first business. I would much rather pay a little extra to join the franchise and cut the learning curve. Then I can focus on something that I truly love and have the lawn care business as my financial pillar
I do have pride in my brand and only learn things the hard way. I’m interested in what your doing though it’s not directly for me, I’d like to do with my company what your doing with Augusta. Awesome to watch.
You talked to me and before you had the solo op mode told me to start and get settled. Work towards the 15k start goal if that’s what I wanted and join Augusta. Never did you pressure me. Made me want to join 10x more
I'm thinking about joining as well. ?? I owned a small business , 12 years solid of landscaping experience and 6 years of garden design and installation. I went through some life changes in 2019, I closed it down in California and moved to the Oregon coast. Currently have one client on weekends while holdi g down working a full time job in years M-F...Not for me!!!! I'm settled in now and ready to get back at it.
A solo franchisee would need to get equipment: truck, trailer and lawn care gear. What would that expense be? Realistically, what would a solo make first year vs costs? low end to high end on that? Thanks for working so hard.
I think if someone had zero equipment they could get started for under $20K with a cheap truck and equipment setup… and the willingness to knock on doors and put out doorhangers
Hello Mike, I have been in the Lawn Care Industry (Mostly Mowing) for about the last 10yrs in Mid-Michigan. I have been thinking about going solo for the last couple years. Found Augusta while researching reviews for the Traverse City Team, because I need a change for next year. So I just had a few questions 1) Do you provide the equipment (Mowers, Tools, Trailer) and a Truck? Or does that come out of a franchisees pocket on top of the 4k? 2) As a Solo Operator can the franchisee choose what services he/she provides or are the required to do every job under the blanket of Lawn & Landscaping? 3) Lastly would it be a good or bad idea to work for a different Augusta Franchisee such as the Traverse City team prior to going solo. Or is it better to just startup as a Solo Operator. I have mixed feelings on this as I would join a team under the Augusta Brand, then split and go solo after a year or two with them. Basically betraying a Team but remaining in the Brand.
All very good questions. If you go to AugustaLawnCareServices.com/franchise you can book a one-on-one call with Lee and he will get all these questions answered for you specifically ✅ Short answers: 1.) No. You get to decide on your equipment. 2.) The franchisee chooses which services they offer. 3.) Good to go over this with Lee. Not a bad idea to get experience with existing location. They have protected territory so it’s not like you would be competing. Also, we encourage and are happy when employee leave to go start their own business. It is mutually beneficial ✅ PS: Derek in Traverse is a great owner
Mike if people have their own comercial mowers already will they be able to use them as part of Augusta or will they have to use the mowers from Augusta
That’s why we started the solo operator model. Initial fee is only $4K. Aloes you to get your foot in the door and get revenues flowing befitting commuting to a territory and scaling up ✅
@@MikeAndes ok, I'm seriously considering a Solo spot. Over the next few weeks I will have the cash. I am very experienced but do not have equipment yet of my own. I don't believe there are any Augusta franchises near my area of Marion, Indiana in Grant County. I believe the Grounds Guys are in my area, though
Mike this new franchise option is something I am very interested in. Would you consider someone who is 17 and in high school? I would love to start up for next spring with this smaller scale type franchise that way I could still do some focus on education.
See I've got pride of brand.... but my brand isn't out there yet.... but I feel like "Grass N Stuff" has a ring to it and potential it stands out more than "Bob's lawn care" ... but I also know and understand the perks of joining massively out weigh anything I can pull off in even the next 5 years..... another draw back is the yellow trucks.... im buying a $20k dump truck for snow and salt..... its fire engine red.... my pickup is black (I fully intend to swap it out in spring as it struggles with the trailer).... I'm stuck between "my baby" and a logical no brainer....
We want to create our own empire. How can we as 12 and 10 year old brothers get insurance. We've tried but no one will issue minors a liability policy. We want to do what's right and be productive citizens in our society.
Been learning franchises /mlm for many years. The biggest problem for new franchisee is low to no cost of entry. You need to have something on the line to give you an urgency to succeed, low to no cost makes it too easy to throw in the towel. Also if someone gives you free advise, what's it REALLY worth and would you REALLY follow it?
I agree. That was the reason we waited and were apprehensive about offering a low cost option… easier to just give up and it could lead to increased “location closures”… however, I get the most fulfillment from seeing a young person or newbie take massive strides in business and eventually grow into something super cool. I am willing to take the risk of the person is a good human being with morals and represents the brand well. When I started out I didn’t have $50-100K cash to get started… I had drive and potential… and I hope the solo operator model allows others the same path I have taken
Im sure im not the only one to ask this, but, how did your disagreement with the city for "unauthorized repair of the entrance" end up? How dare you make it look better than they cared to!

You just spoke to me brother 💪🏽💙
I thought the same… the lack of knowledge would run the business to the ground.
Took the words right out of my mouth
He wants 50,000 to join. There is not a 50,000 dollar learning curve.
@@sureshots8155 who is "he"? Because Mike is asking $3999.99

I'd really like to join Augusta, I have all equipment and thinking of starting this next year, I'm out of Lodi California, sounds so good!!!
Love the video! Much appreciate, can’t wait to start!
I just booked my appointment with Lee for tomorrow. 🤞🏻
Good luck

Great breakdown Mike
What kind of service do we need to be able to provide other than mowing, edging, and blow? Or do we have the option to just do the basic services?
Service offering is completely up to the individual owner ✅👍🏻 mostly focused on simple projects and recurring services
For the Solo is the truck and equipment provided, or how does that work out.
You can choose whatever truck/equipment you want. Based on your territory and size of average property, we have recommendations at training we go over

We do not dictate which mowers you have to use. You can absolutely use the mowers you currently have

What does the $20,000 break down for? I have 20k but I need to buy a truck and equipment. The market in Indiana has nice used trucks for under 10k.
