    As an umpire, the very first thing I saw was that he was pulling the pitches. That tells me the catcher thinks the pitch was a ball. Why should the umpire disagree? John Winkin taught framing as thus: Low pitch, catch the ball with the mitt horizontal. High pitch, catch the ball horizontal. Inside pitch, catch the ball with the glove vertical. Outside pitch, catch the ball with the glove vertical. Framing refers to presenting borderline pitches so the umpire has the best view of where they were. It does not mean pulling pitches, which is what the catcher in this video is doing just about every time, especially with the low pitches. In some cases, this catcher is going to cost his pitcher strikes by pulling pitches that were strikes to begin with.

      Wrong...you dont meet the ball...you BEAT the ball! Go PAST the spot then "pull" back onto corner or up if went futher down and catch it ON THE WAY BACK to strike zone! Not A to B and catch...go A and past B to C...then come back to B for catch onway back to point A!!!
      Edit to add: Always keep thumb parallel and never turn it down to ground or also known as BACKHAND an inside pitch! Keep thumb OUT to side and BEAT geeting it under then ball and catch it as you bringing it up...THEN STICK IT! STICK CORNERS YES BUT HAVE GO BEYOND THE PITCHES THATS OUT OR LOW AND PULL THEM BACK IN BUT AS I EXPLAINED WITH THE A,B,C POINTS!

      @CocoPerk 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most the time the ump can’t see your glove, however, he can see your elbow, so when you frame a pitch, it’s more about keeping your elbow as still as possible, rather than moving your glove quickly into the strike zone.

    Molina will always be the best at receiving and from an umpires prospective Barnes glove moves a little to much, sometimes an umpire will call pitches based on what the glove is doing Barnes is good but if you compare Barnes glove movement to Molina there is a big difference!

      @danielclark6912 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      John Jacob if you don't know what I'm talking about maybe you need to know. It's simple stuff just knowing when to go get pitches vs allowing it to get a little deeper .

    • @johnjacob4973
      @johnjacob4973 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Daniel Clark this is a video of the dodgers catcher being commentated on by a former mlb player. I think they’ve got it covered lol

    • @danielclark6912
      @danielclark6912 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      John Jacob right he was commenting on basics and then talked about how some guys get more borderline pitches than others. Knowing how to receive borderline pitches . Fast balls are easy get your thumb under it and be strong but on breaking pitches or anything with movement there are some other tricks
