    Wish he would have explained Crown of Seeds’ utility a bit more. Is it how he’s keeping fusion cards in the deck? When you fuse you often are left with a hand of ice/earth cards and need to Arsenal them. Exciting deck! Can’t believe he played only 2 Spinal Crush though! 🤯

      Yeah man, I think the whole video could have wound up being about Crown of Seeds. What you are saying is absolutely part of it. There is an inherent card inefficiency built into the fusion mechanic (with Oldhim especially) because without go again you are leaving something stranded in your hand and/or telling your opponent what you arsenal. Not to mention having something like Winter's Grasp sitting in your arsenal is uninspiring. Crown says put whatever you want in here and if you don't like it go on ahead and swap it out. In addition to that it also makes your 2 blocks now 3 and your 3 blocks now 4. It prevents arcane giving you even more game against some of the new shenanigans Briar and Kano can do. Most importantly to me though is the fact that it gives you ultimate flexibility. Don't actually want to block with what you should block with out of hand? See what you get off seeds. For me one of the best parts is it turns the instants into the deck into work when they would otherwise be irrelevant. This exact scenario happened yesterday, Lexi is ripping an arrow at me for 8 dominate, discard unless you pay 1 on hit and 2 floating for Shock Charmers at the very least but 1 card still in hand(Ice card for fusion Red Ice Quake I think) and a charge of Voltaire still available. I am sitting on a remembrance and another blue instant in hand with 1 two block ice and earth card for the remainder with Oaken Old in Arsenal. Taking the damage isn't an option and blocking with what I have isn't going to be efficient unless I throw all of my armor in front of it. I pitch the blue instant for Crown, draw a Staunch Red and play it off the floating for exactly 8. This is absolutely best case scenario but even the more medium version of that just making it slightly better is still so incredibly relevant as the game progresses. Oldhim very much feels like a hero of incremental advantage in a game of incremental advantage and Crown is the best version of that I have seen thus far.
      With all of that being said there is still the fact that it prevents on avg 8-10 damage a game which alone would make it worthwhile. If you have any specific questions though let me know, my wife will be happy to miss the theory crafting for a bit! PS: 2 Spinal Crush is likely wrong but my theory was I kinda have the third copy of all these attacks in Awakening and I'm not convinced that I'm going to always be able to cast Spinal, specifically in games where I board in Heart of Ice and lose out on the discount. Also you almost always get through your deck so you will usually get an opportunity to remembrance a copy back if you need/want to.

      @@Eric-gi2pp Thank you so much for this! This has been my experience with Crown so far. But with far less experience! Haha. It’s good to know that your experience is affirming mine because I can’t believe all the value I’m getting out of it. One of my favorite plays with it was putting my Pulse on the bottom of the deck next to an Oaken Old that I got back with Sow Tomorrow and drawing that combo later to win the game! This video came at the perfect time because my current Oldhim build is so similar to yours in that I thought I was crazy for not playing any Pummels. I completely missed the genius of Ice Quake so that’s an instant include.
      Thank you again!

      @@Eric-gi2pp do you have any advice for prism match ups? Blizzard, lake frigid and endless winter are great but I feel like if you ever get behind it can just feel like youre being snowballed on having to swing at the illusions just to get rid of those lingering effects while doing no damage. Bravo feels difficult as well for me and I haven't figured that one out.

    • @Eric-gi2pp
      @Eric-gi2pp 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@HeavensMandate8040 I think it is a super tight matchup, one where incremental advantage is likely to be what decides the game. There isn't really an easy answer to the Prism matchup but the games against them tend to go a couple of ways. They establish some early Aura's and shields and try to protect that to poke you for 4-6 dmg a turn and then try to sneak through a herald that matters here or there to keep the pressure up when they can. That tends to equate to you using a lot of resources to block and then popping auras on your turn while still facing pressure. If they ever get 2 auras and 3+ shields it feels like it is almost insurmountable but those games tend to grind out where you feel like you almost get there a few times. The other scenario is they manage a double aura turn or big Tome turn and bury you under the tempo and game never feels close. The best results I have had is trying to keep resource pressure on them so that they can't just do exactly what they want when they want. Tax effects go a long way against prism as she has a lot of things she is looking to do at instant speed or more advantageous timing for themselves. When you can push them out of that comfort zone you get a slight natural advantage. I set my deck up to address a lot of the issues I was having with Prism early on in testing. This version has more proactive "pressure" cards that look to disrupt the set up and protect game plan. Those also have the added benefit of popping phantasm on blocks and effecting their ability to play their turn out how they want. (Frostbites, Crush Effects, etc.) I am also playing additional cards that can pop phantasm and a suite of yellow cards that help deal with the occasional library.
      This isn't a great response I think and I'm sorry. If you have some more specific questions let me know and I'll answer those directly. The biggest piece of advice I can give for this matchup though is understand your role and how the games play out. Then stick to your gameplan while remembering to assess the individual situations before just blindly popping each aura. Sometimes you have to take a bit of risk to get the game back to even footing and then tip the scale in your favor. Try to cycle back some of your Dominatable threats or heavy hitters in the mid to late game as those will often get you to the finish line when they get stuck with no block cards in hand.

      @@HeavensMandate8040 I know this is a bit late but with Heart of Ice it's almost impossible (it feels like) for Prism to win. It completely throws the entire deck off.

    I wish he had explained a bit more about his side too. When does he bring all the reactions. What does he take out? Which match up he sides all 9. Some only 3. Things like that

    • @Eric-gi2pp

      So, I started out thinking I had a pretty solid MB/SB but I have wound up being a lot more flexible with it than previously thought. To answer a couple things here though, Exposed the elements comes in when you think the effect is going to really impact the game. I've had mixed results in both Lexi and Briar, I don't think Briar is correct to bring both in or even really leave one in and I only like the one for Lexi but always both for Prism. The Sink Belows are coming in for the on hit effect aggro decks. Ninja, Lexi, Chane, etc. Staunch Blues are main but the reds come in for the go tall decks where you can get away with it like Dorinthea, Levia, Lexi (I thought only against the dominate version but it's been just fine against the more go wide versions as well so no reason to risk the guesswork when it's just fine for both. Don't be scared to cycle a red out of your arsenal with crown early if there is no good place to use it.) In a lot of matchups where I want the Dreacts I want to trim out the cards that don't block like Exposed, Blizzard if it is irrelevant (Bravo, Rhinar, Mirror), and sometimes It's correct to trim some amount of your red's if they don't fit your gameplan. I found myself using the Forge for War as main deck over Yellow Autumn's touch about 50/50 but all of the yellows come in against Prism and that is likely the only matchup where you really want RC.(I've got some wild extra theories on this one but that would be too far in the weeds) That is also a match where I don't work too hard to keep my deck as close to 60 as possible, it's a grind so having more options is not a bad thing I've found. Against Prism you should also always bring heart, it's probably the best card in your deck for the matchup and when it forces you to play awkward as fuck with your 4+ cost reds don't tilt, you'll reap the rewards later on.

      Oldhim is a very expensive deck. He needs all the equipment to function properly. TCGPlayer can give you ideas of how expensive the cards are, Oldhim is probably $600-700 and it's difficult to play. If you're looking to get into the game pick up a few of the Blitz decks and play some games, decide if you like the way the game plays. From there you'll find a hero that you enjoy playing and you can sink money into that.
