I once worked for a company that bought a Toyota work car for me, and the day before it was supposed to be delivered, there was an accident on a local ring-road, where a literal truckload of Toyota's got crushed - And I thought, "Well darn, not gonna get my new work car tomorrow."
I went up to the dealership the next day, asked about the crashed truck,
and they confirmed that my car had been on that truck.
And then they told me that the car was ready for me to pick up!
Not gonna lie - _I was a bit confused_ - How could it be there if it was crushed ?
Turns out, that they had found a similar vehicle in another dealership on the showroom floor.
Then they had 3 mechanics work overnight to install all the options, do all the new paperwork.
And then the CEO of that dealership, put it on a trailer and drove it 200 miles to my local dealership !
They managed to deliver *every single car* that was crushed on that tractor trailer … ON TIME !
They even apologized for the worry it might have caused us.
    Unbelievable!

I went to AutoNation and bought a used 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT Crew Cab All Terrain 4wd, with 151k miles on it, that was out of state in Miami, FL. I was told I'd have it in 3 or 4 days. Ok great! 3 weeks later I still didn't have my truck, and my salesperson called me to tell me that the Miami dealer sold my truck at the same time that he sold it to me, but they didn't remove it from the inventory or update it in the system, so I needed to come in to find a new truck. To make things right, my AutoNation dealer put me in a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali CC 4WD with 65k miles on it for the same price, tripled the warranty for the same price I paid on the 2014, and gave me 4 years of prepaid maintenance with 6 years of scratch and dent repair service! What started out as a terrible experience turned into the best car buying experience I've ever had.

My local ram dealer in Sonora California the finance manager is also the general manager. He is a con man and the Dodge dealership is terrible. Do most of your purchasing through their internet sales person. Have them send emails or faxes in very detailed terms. Get financing through an outside source, and don't let the dealership play any games with you. First sign of bullshit, get up and tell them that they have wasted your time, and apparently don't want you to purchase a vehicle from them. There are more dealerships out there that are decent. Don't let them ever get the upper hand on you. And most importantly, do your homework before you even start your search for a new vehicle. I went through the antics of 3 F&I sharks before I purchased my last Cadillac. Didn't last 2 minutes in the one guys office because he started playing games. They had the vehicle prepped, and sitting out front with temp tags on it when I arrived. I'm sure that it killed him to watch me just walk out and leave. Not my problem.

My opinion on the dodges vary. On the fire Department we have a 2014 2500 crew cab short box with the 6.7 cummins turbo diesel. When this truck works it is awesome. The power is phenomenal and it accelerates like a space ship even with 300 gallons water and a pump and all that in the bed. This truck being 5 years old only has 10k on it. It has been to the dealership for recalls 3-4 times by now. The truck is already due for u joints as it clunks every time you let off the throttle. And the transmission we fear is ready to go soon. This truck once turned on needs to be put in gear immediately and it needs to hussle. The truck does not start rolling in drive until it almost reaches 2000rpm, on a diesel. Once it warms up it goes away. This truck also has gone into limp mode several times on us for no reason on the way to fire calls. Lastly, the newest problem is that it wont shift at all under roughly 1200-1400 rpm even in the most gentle conditions. This truck has 10,000 miles on it! I also forgot to mention that we took it in for its warranty oil change and left with a engine light on we didn’t come with, something to do with the emissions system. This truck also has had traction control issues and issues going into 4wd. For a truck that is designed for offroad firefighting, this is unacceptable. Sorry for the lack of order in my reply but just be cautious with that drivetrain. Im not worried about the hemi its the transmission im worried about.

The truck needs an EGR tuneup, and have the emissions gone through. Sounds like possible issues with the DEF system too, change the DEF filter lately? Check the DEF/SCR system for leaks? Need to maintain these things, they are not like the diesels of twenty years ago. No more service the truck and go, now you need to be a rocket scientist to own one.

Appreciating the content as always as it's helped me become a better business owner and contractor. I think the worst experience I had buying a truck was going to the local salesperson, ordered the truck and said I would be back after work to lay down a deposit, then coming back to find that the truck had a sold sign on it. so I went in to talk to the sales person and he said that he had sold the truck to someone else, I responded that I had bought seven vehicles from you guys and figured you would have the loyalty to save this truck for me as I had been looking a while for it. he said "well a sale is a sale" I said well I'm going to you competitor and getting a truck at there dealership. haven't been back since. to bad it went down like that but ended up getting a great deal on a truck I love today 3 years later.

My dad has had a 2001 Z72 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a 5.3l Vortec, he got this truck used in 2003 it only had one good record maintaining owner! we got a good deal on it and yet it had 110,000 miles and was in pristine shape. With all the maintenance records Of course and living in Wisconsin we encountered some rust over the years, but my dad towed the maximum weight that the truck supported and it went up a hill with ease! We did this every summer every weekend and it held up, we took it through water snow salt and mud it does a good job, little to no engine issues up until this pst year but it’s just basic maintenance for its age! Anyways best truck I’ve ever used was this beast I’m sure the body will go before the frame and the engine and it’s components, what a work horse this machine is, i also worked on this engine because it has a lot of space! But when my dad leaves this truck I’ll help him and I’m actually thinking selling this truck to my grandpa to plow, he said he loved it and would be happy to own a good truck! It’s still running and drives 50 miles a day with ease :) can’t wait till I get to see how long your truck lasts because my dad is thinking about going simpler for his next truck maybe he will consider getting one like you just got

If you ever need to go back to that plow dealer with another truck, you can save a lot of time by going to Manitowoc Wisconsin and jumping on the train/truck freight ship. It makes one round trip a day from Ludington Michigan to Manitowoc every day. Saves a lot of time. The ships crew drives it onto the ship and drives it off on the other side, so you could have someone pick it up and bring it back so you don't need to actually go on the trip.

I’ve been around dealerships my entire life and I can almost guarantee that the salesmen’s pay is somehow related to that survey. Service depts have been doing this with techs for years in my area. If you don’t give all 10s he gets a smaller percentage, and if you get so many 0s in a period of time there is another penalty.
Reg cab trucks are a dying breed, you know that. That’s not at all the manufacturers fault, they build to sell and the fact is that reg cab truck sit on the lot forever. One thing I will say is you would be way better off buying from a commercial truck dealership not a circus dealership that you were at. Commercial dealers don’t pat you on the bottom and tell you your pretty but the last truck I purchased at a commercial dealer (used truck) I looked at the truck when the dealer was closed, test drove it the next day (only cause it was used), total time invested minus test drive.... maybe 15 min. No b.s. no surveys, no phone calls, no sitting in the truck for 45 min being shown how power windows work. Sign the paperwork, write a check, go home in new truck.

I used to sell cars, and it sounds like the dealership dropped the ball on this on not going to get the truck in the first place or at least keep the customer up to date. Those survey are absolute BS and can end up getting the salesman fired. I've see it happen before.
I had a customer that lived in Maine that wanted to buy a new 2011 Cadillac Escalade ESV in western Pennsylvania . The customer did all the paperwork via fax, and had the money wired from his credit union. He had someone bring his trade met halfway some 8 hours and swapped. It was a pain in the ass deal for everyone even though I made $175 commission . They gave him a trade appraisal site unseen which is uncommon. He traded in a 2008 Cadilllac Escalcade with 80K and my dealer sold the vehicle in 3 days since it was well maintained.

I did close to the same thing, went to a dealership, test drove a ford, GM, and finally the ram, and the ram stood out the most honestly. I have a 2015 with close to 70k on it and I have had zero issues other than recalls, most of which my truck didn't have, the only real recall I had was the rollover sensor. Every single truck has it's problems now days, you might as well test drive one from each brand and not even base your decision on the make. Buddy at work bought a GMC Sierra and his motor blew up at the 20k mark. Friend with a ford had his transmission go out at the 34k mark, everything you're buying now is essentially a warranty machine that will be used in the future to deter people from ever buying used, these trucks will all have MAJOR problems after about 10 years of life, that's the goal of the companies, make something that last just long enough where the original owner is happy enough to come back 4-8 years later and buy another truck.
However if you do want a lighter truck that will last buy a Toyota, the get garbage fuel economy, and they cost a arm and a leg, but if you plan on owning your truck for a long long time that's really the only place you can go anymore. My only regret was I was planning on trading my ram 3 years in so I chose the 2WD over the 4WD thinking I'd end up wanting a GM or Ford later on. Well GM used my tax dollars to build up in Mexico so that went out the window, Ford thinks that putting turbo's on everything is a real solution to problems, also you can't work on them at all under the hood.
I had the same impression when I opened the hood on my ram, it reminded me a whole lot of my 93 ram with a 318, and the four speed torqflite, my 15 shifts just as smooth, and the engine bay looks very close to the exact same. I started a chain reaction over here in GM country, I bought my truck, three months later their were 12 rams in my work parking lot. Pretty much as solid of a "American" truck as you're going to get, Ram builds the crew cabs/extended cabs in the united states, the single cabs are built in Mexico. I don't play the "I SUPPORT THIS MANUFACTURER" game, and it appears you don't either, I really like that, I bought a truck that has treated me well, and who knows some time down the road I could have a Toyota, Nissan, or Ford that treats me well.

On the newer Rams, the heads are made at a tighter tolerance. It's one of the Hemi weaknesses, but also the reason it's so powerful to start with. If you want the engine to run smooth for along time, change the oil at the old school 3,000 mile interval regardless of the oil you use.
If you pay attention you will notice 3 year old hemis have a lop in the idle. This is the valves not seating all the way. This is caused by the build up. I am not sure you keep trucks forever like we do, but if you do, then maintenance is key to longevity. Most will argue 5k is good enough, but I have seen the results of 5k oil changes. The hemi line especially sensitive to build up.

The pretty much base model like he bought with the steel wheels only come with the standard non flip up mirrors.. I've seen them even on some of the 3500's as a base model.. He could of had them added. That dealer just ordered him what he asked for they didn't have it in stock as why it was at the tranyard rather than at one of there sister dealerships.. I would have ordered it with the diesel though better fuel mileage and better resale when it gets around 200K on it..

This was a GREAT video! I liked all of your videos so far. Those that say your a drama queen have lost touch or have just gotten used to taking crap from dealers. After a month of waiting for my new truck I would have been more visibly upset at the dealership. I think you handled this very well and got a good result. AWESOME! Keep up the good work!
I think you need to update everyone on the truck and its performance. In my honest opinion, I think you will lose your shirt when you try to resell, if that is something you actually do. I had the worst experience with Dodge on resale. I talked them down $11,500 off the sticker (1/3 the sticker price) and in two years I wanted to trade the vehicle in and was upside down by $7,500. How that was even possible I don't know. Good luck with your dodge.

Bought my first Dodge Truck in 1994 from a diehard Chevy man, and I've been hooked since, Love my Dodges. Everyone has been amazing, hardly had to fix anything, the one with a gas 360, 5.9 is a gas pig much worse than my 318 5.2's, but I also got a 2002 Ram Diesel H.O. 6speed manual years ago and I love it. I moved 1400 miles with it and my 35' enclosed car trailer over 9 drives back and forth, and it still got 11-13.5 mpg often, pulling that thing with some household, and 1 of my classic cars each time. I got an old 93' Grand Cherokee for free with a cooked tranny as the old man never changed fluid, rebuilt it, has the same 318 as my 95' Dakota, rebuilt 1 injector, and it has been amazing to get us through winters, then got my wife who has a 2012 Charger but doesn't want to drive it in Winter, a 2000 Grand Cherokee with the 4.7, and so far it's been really nice. I won't buy new cars anymore as being a Mechanic/Engineer/Electronics expert I've worked enough with technology I know you can't trust it and believe it's use should be limited in vehicles. So I'm not a fan of all this technology in newer cars these days so I don't support Elect. Cars or self driving. Plenty of articles out there to read covering the damaging effects to the earth are far worse with all the Mining to get the minerals for what they are pushing for is worse for the earth than just driving a proper kept gas car.. I love all the classic & muscle cars and have many, but not a fan of pretty much anything new. Good Luck.

Plus it helped saved allot of time that I went to the bank first and secured an auto loan the day before, and then went to the dealer, and only spend about 3 hours there. First car I ever bought was a nightmare. Stuck in the dealer for nearly 9 hours. But that was my experience with vehicle buying.

Glad to see that specific dealership finally realized that customers are the most valuable asset of their company. I had worked there a few years ago and purchased a truck through Mike as well. I had major issues (wire harness catching fire, head gaskets blown)within the first week of possession and they (the dealership) wouldn't do anything about it. Mike did put forth some effort to help but his hands were apparently tied. Still working there I thought I would have been treated a lot better than I was. I also saw and spoke to customers on multiple occasions that said "they called it Fury Motors because their only goal is to make customers furious".
Sorry for the mini rant. Like the statement I started with. I am happy to see their ability ( I mean willingness) to go above and beyond with customers has greatly improved.

We have a crew cab 4x4 version of that truck, same year model and color. I have been very pleased with its power, ride quality, ability to tow a trailer. The one thing I dislike is the lack of a backup camera, a huge letdown on a work truck. I also have not found the mirrors to be the best for backing up a trailer. Fine for highway driving though. It actually gets good mileage for a truck too. Pulling a 16ft trailer with about 4500lbs on it and with also around 1200lbs of weight in the bed on the same trip, we were averaging 14.2mpg highway in 100 degree temps at sea level running AC. I think that’s pretty good for a truck.

I really like my ram 2500, i 100 agree with the comments about the dash being balanced and laid out in a user friendly way, one thing I will suggest is, if your use to the bigger mirrors swap those mirrors out for the tow package mirrors they fold in and out. Adds about 4 inches to the width of truck on each side. You can adjust them low and wide to view the entire plow blade. Also helps in traffic and pretty much eliminates blind spots as you can see the whole other lane next to you. Added advantage of allowing you to see the tires when backing into a parking spot a lot easier, my .02$

Funny thing Stanley. We think alike (somewhat). I too have 2 gasser Ford trucks. An 04 F250 work truck going on 230,000 nearly problem free miles and a '76 F100 that is my plow truck. Like you, I used to be a Ford diesel owner (7.3 Power Smoke) and when Ford produced that P.O.S. 6.0 and continued for years to build a crap diesel, I went and bought a Dodge with the Cummins matched to the 6 spd manual tranny. Best thing I could have done. Ford with their superior frames and heavy duty body and the Dodge (weak front end and all) with the dependable Cummins. Course for years Dodge had that crap automatic transmission that was never going to make it past 130 k miles but with the 6 spd I am in towing heaven. The GMs you can have 'em. Been there done that. Anyhow good video glad you got some dealer satisfaction.

I bought a new Chevy 2500 HD 4x4 on January 8th 2018 in the evening. Just before leaving the dealership noticed tank was empty, had to find someone to take care of that, did. My wife drove it from there back to where she worked, I hopped in, she said something is wrong with the steering, it goes where it wants to. I drive towards home and it's all over the road. In couple of days I drive back to dealership to service department, they had 3 people drive it and say nothing is wrong. They would not drive on interstate and said that Chevrolet would not touch it till it had 1000 miles on it. Took it back where it had close to 1000 miles they tell me that nothing is wrong, which took them all day long. I stuck my finger in the service managers chest and told him I never be back! Ended up taking it to another dealership closer to me, they put new steering box in, problem was gone. The first dealership also owns over 100 other dealerships in the U.S. the name Rick Henricks race car nut.

My car buying experience? well, I used to hate them. I had a 2-door blazer that had when I was single and had for 10y+ and 250K m. The engine finally gave out (my mechanic told me he would not fix the car anymore, it was done) and I needed something new. Keep in mind I have been looking but for one reason or another, I could not find one. Every year I would go check new models. Finally, on my second child, my wife had enough. I walk into the dealer and actually found something and asked for a price. The sales person knew I did not haggle, and he knew I would walk away. (I do not play the game, give me your best price, and I will let you know. I will not ask for a lower price, yes or no.)
The sales person was close to retirement and he made his money on straight commission, I was starting my family. He has since sold me two more cars and now that he has retired he will be selling my daughter a car this spring. He has stopped by the house with candy for the kids and I have stopped by his house to visit him and his wife.

Most of those quality surveys include infotainment and other controls under the broad "reliability" umbrella. Ram has no serious quality issues right now with any of their powertrains. Moroever, a big boost in quality occured with Ram while it was still Dodge in 2009 -- the cheapness that Daimler had infused in prior Rams was pretty well gone by gen 4 (2009).

Again, the lifetime powertrain warranty was a dealer incentive upgrade to the factory warranty. Visit Green Dodge Kia Subaru's website.
There isn't a single thing that has stayed the same since 1994. The factories have shuffled and are very modern, the workforce is largely different, company leadership is different, and the sales show it! Ram has beaten Chevy on Silverado sales a few different months now, and the trend looks more favorable toward Ram 1500 than Silverado 1500.
Anecdote doesn't make truth; every brand has lemons. I had an '04 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7L V8 4x2, and in 7 years and tickling 100K miles before I sold it, the only issue I had was a power steering fluid leak from a dried/cracked seal.
The Titan HD Pro4X is an interesting truck, but Nissan still struggles to be a market leader. F150 commands the market for a reason.
Here's another "respectable source"... JD Power Initial Quality:
"All domestic corporations improve faster than the industry: Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (7 PP100 improvement), Ford Motor Company (5 PP100 improvement) and General Motors (5 PP100 improvement) all outpace the industry average rate of improvement (4 PP100)"

I have a Ram truck and love it for all the reasons you mention, plus how it drives, but seriously, you have to be aware they are very prone to rust especially over the rear tires and the rocker panels. My 2011 already had holes forming two years ago. I started using fluid film on it and it was able to at least stop the rust from progressing. If I knew then what I know now...that these trucks rust and fluid film works wonders. For plowing, I would definitely use fluid film on it and take the inner door panels off and treat inside the doors and anywhere it can reach. For what these things cost these days, they shouldn't rust. Now Ram uses what they call high strength steel, which translates into stronger, but thinner steel to save weight. I can only imagine how much faster they'll rust. It's a great truck, but you have to treat it to preserve it from rotting out.

This is my first time watching your channel so I'm new to your content and I don't really understand what it's about. I think that the dealerships in your area are not competent. There are a whole hell of a lot regular cab 8-foot bed pickup trucks down here in Texas. Chevrolet, General Motors, Ford, and Dodge. I drive through these parking lots pretty much about every day on my shortcut home. I think that they just didn't want to do as much work as they should have.
As far as your experience with Dodge, sorry to hear about that. Dodge make good trucks and I would rather have one of those over a Chevrolet any day. I would rather have a Dodge over Ford, but if it came Ford versus Chevrolet, I'd take a Ford.
Dodge has always focused a lot on the interior of their trucks even back to the 1960s. When you watch the old dealer promotion films, the evidence is clear that for 50 years, Dodge has been more concerned with the Working Man than other companies. But that used to be Dodge, now they Ram. But it looks like that they still keep that in mind

I own a 18 2500 power wagon, fold your mirrors up, you have the widest view out of all trucks. future problems to avoid take your truck to the dealer and have them update the Uconnect ( its the worse / buggiest feature of the truck ) , want a better ride quality upgrade shocks to fox 2.0 add in thuren rear springs and rear track bar kit you will genuinely appreciate the ride quality ( as good if not better then a Cadillac ) use only MOBIL ONE 0W-40 motor oil ( occasionally spoil it with some original formula slick 50) all others you will develop the "hemi tick" i know it is a work truck to you but sometimes its best to pay more for a quality product ( the oil and shocks) to get the most and best performance out of your truck.

I am a Dodge guy, so I like it. Just FYI, there should be a compartment under the center seat too if you were not aware of it.

Dodge doesn't make trucks Goober--RAM is a separate brand like Jeep.

When you want to buy a new RAM, check Dennis Dillon in Caldwell ID or Dave Smith in Kellogg Idaho first. You will have a choice of between 1500-2000 trucks in stock to choose from and even with it being shipped to you you'll still save may thousands over the normal dealer, especially if you just pay what your local dealer is asking. Just saying.............These dealers equip their trucks a little differently, but they compete against each other hard and you will get the best price possible between them.
