    Also a quick tip in case it helps someone . If you use the homemade nail cleanser from this page . Make sure you let that cleanser fully dry before applying any gel polish (I like to wait at least a minute ). I couldn’t figure out why I kept getting uneven application . Trial and error lol .

    1) your make up looks fabulous!
    2) I loved listening to you. You really know your stuff. And you share information clearly and succinctly.
    3) you also share info without attitude. Kind of uncommon but very cool and it makes grasping what you’re teaching much easier.
    4) I like how you repeat the info your sharing. Some people talk fast and it’s easy to miss things. You repeat things at least twice and that helps to make sure your audience is absorbing what you’re sharing.
    Great job!
    I look forward to watching more of your vids! Thank you!!!

    I have watched many hundreds of nail instruction videos and have found yours to be the most informative ones yet. I love nails and have been getting my nails done for quite a few years. I decided to try to teach myself how to do my in-fills because I like to change my nails often and it can get expensive. Not to mention that where I come from(North Providence RI) although there are many many nail salons oh, I could not find one in the state who did actual sculptured nails. So I decided to teach myself. My problem seems to be now that because I do not have a beautician's license it is extremely difficult to find quality products. And although there are some sites that will let someone like me purchase them online the shipping can often be equal to the amount that I spend on product. Please please do you have any suggestions as to where I can buy quality products without having to go out of the United States? I hope you keep making your videos you really don't know how much someone like myself appreciates them

    Thank you. This is food for thought. I have been trying to apply ugly duckling gel polish in an OPI UV lamp and the layers are not curing all the way through. I have been getting wrinkling and peeling everytime I try it. Followed all the steps. Prepped and cleansed the nail. Use UG base coat. Two coats polish and a top coat. Still not curing through 7/10 times. Coats are suuuupppper thin. As thin and even as I can make them. It has to be the lamp. I am so frustrated. I am an acrylic girl. I don't like gels, but gel polish is so popular now I want to make it work. Hope the same brand lamp will help.

      Some gel polishes are only cured under LED lamps, not UV, which is probably what your issue is! Some polishes can cure under both, but most are LED or UV specific. Hopefully getting a different lamp helped your issues!

    1st of: I LOVE your makeup 😍
    and 2nd: I just bought a black gel polish and I applied 3 layers and when I was done I noticed they got so wrinkled. At 1st I thought the gel polish was not good quality and it was too thick when I applied.
    So now I know probably I needed more curing. Ugh, I will definitely give a try and apply thin layers.

    Hi Liz, I found your videos extremely useful. I started to do my nails at home and have a lot of fun doing it myself. What if you don't like the look of nails and want to change it next day. I decided to change color of my nail day after application and couldn't remove it with acetone. I am sure I didn't remove all the base coat. I applied another layer of base, color on it and top coat. Is it all right to leave a bit of product on the nail?

    Thank you so much Liz! Especially the last part helped a lot, since I always had this problem with my nail curling underneath the gel. Especially in winter on my thumbs and index. I solved this doing a mixture of really nurturing my nails with cuticle oil every day and also e-filing the nail underneath where it lifted. I haven’t heard anyone talking about this issue so it’s really cool to finally hear from a professional 👍🏻
    Ps: I also love your make up in this video!💕

    Im so glad I saw this video, quite a while ago Ive bought myself a gel polish kit with a base and top coat, and was thinking 'oh its gonna be so easy to do it at home, my nails will look perfect'. I didnt know A THING about proper nail prep so I wasnt prepping it thoroughly, my 'prep' was a total joke 😂 and obviously no matter how thin my gel layers would be, my gel polish would still start chipping away in a couple days 😄😄 now when I know more about gel polishes and nail extensions (I want to be a nail tech myself one day) I realize how dumb I was omg 😄😄
    Oh I also I didnt know that the stickiness I would feel after curing my top coat is a sticky layer that I needed to wipe off with alcohol, I though I didnt cure it long enough, so I would literally fry my fingers in the LED lamp for like 3 minutes 😂

    I agree on the product brand clashing with another brand. That is why I stick with all cheap AliExpress one brand. That way if any problems I 've not wasted my money, but so far so good. I actually used to use mixed brands of Alie and got lucky with no problems as well. I bet most reasons are people not making sure the polish is mixed well so the latex is mixed well in a bottle that sits unused. Great video!

I use Light Elegance and I always have problems with Do the Watootsie, Yellowjacket, Pastel Blue P+, A perfect 10, Tennis Anyone?, Show me the Honey and Hold me Closer. Those are off the top of my head, pretty much any light colored color. The only time I don’t have an issue is if I make it crazy thick :( Any tips on that would be so appreciated thank you!

    Hi Liz. This video has really helped me. I started to get irritation under nail beds, then is spread to around the cuticles, over a 3 month period. Process of elimination thought it was then the gel. I had a mini lamp, gel looked perfect on top, after testing it wasn’t curing right through and as for my builder gel, was like putty. Has caused some of my nails to partly lift from the nail bed. New lamp now, itching has stopped and am waiting for the nails to grow out. I’m reading this so much on fb nail groups and sharing this video.
    Please do a video on just how to test the gel for curing and problems of uncured gel. Thanks so much.

  • @roxannecouture9719

    Thank you for this content. At 10 min from the start of the video, there is an explanation about testing gel to see if it's cured. What are your tought about gel that looks cured, but are not actually fully cured? Some allergy groups and more keep saying that a product can look cured/hardened but is not actually at a 100%. I would love to know your thought and experience about this. You also mentioned that there is more test then that one, would be interesting to have a video about it! :)

      We offer certification that gives access to pro only products. But if you are wanting to get licensed to operate a public business then you need to contact your local state board about that. Check out our education platform at thenailhub.tv. You get unlimited access to everything just by being a member.

    What happens if I’m using same base and color brand and it still pulls from the sidewalls and free edge ?

    • @TheNailHub
      @TheNailHub  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Could be the cleanser you’re using or there’s oil or lotion on the nail and skin. Try wiping down the nails and under the free edge with pure acetone and trying again. Also watch my cleanser video.
      Other thing it could be is your lamp is not fully curing the base so your color is “swimming” on top

    Some opi gels pull or shrink whatever I do but doing one or two nails at a time for the first coat normally works perfectly.

    I’ve also heard that gel can pull on the sides when it’s low quality. I used drugstore gels, base and color were the same brand but I struggled with pulling. It was an issue with dark opaque colors

    • @TheNailHub
      @TheNailHub  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Could just be a crappy formula or could be the base coat isn't cured well or isn't fully covering the nail bed. Usually cheap gel polishes shrink a lot, including the base, so look closely after curing and see if you base coat is still fully covering your nail plate.

    I had my 1st ever gel mani last week. My finger tips throbbed and stung for 3 days. I didn't notice until i tryed to sleep and realized my finger tips were throbbing and burning. It looked good but every night i knew i wasn't going to have an easy time falling asleep. How do I inform the salon or the tech? What could have happened?

    • @TheNailHub
      @TheNailHub  ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds like you’re either having a burning sensation from maybe an extreme exothermic reaction, which is that heat sensation you feel during curing your nails. if the heat is extreme enough, it can actually burn your nail beds, which will cause that throbbing sensation you’re talking about. it could also be that you are having a sensitive reaction or an allergic reaction to the gel Product but if you were feeling a lot of heat during the curing process, to me, I would think that you are having sensitive nail beds from them essentially being burned by a high monomer product. in both situations, it usually means that the product being used on you is not very high-quality so I would encourage you to not return to the same nail technician.

      @The Nail Hub thanks for all your thoughtful responses. that's what it felt like - a lot like a sunburn. Since there were no overt allergic skin symptoms like blisters of any size but in the following days, they were very dry and flaking around the nails. Like when you end up peeling after a sunburn. The curing did feel hot, but I didn't know better. 😕 The product was an iGel color. But I feel now that it was more the lamp (generic? Old bulbs,? Who can tell?!?) and the gel combo and perhaps my of sesitivity level. There are so many variables that I feel they should give first timers like me some more info. I was on a 2 day family trip and in feel lucky i didn't ruin it with some even harsher reults. I've taken it off myself now and am following your natural care mani videos. I could easily develop a expensive polish habit after watching the color demos you and your hubby do 😄

      Paint some on a form, cure, and see if it's flexible by playing with it a bit.
