It’s so hard to change from a corrupt mindset. Years of telling people what to do legally or illegally and beating up citizens and locking them up for not bowing down to their egos is so ingrained into their training and mindset. Only the camera protected him from the Karen at the window.

You can record in the foyer, but not into the the next room that had a clear window? Lol. The clear window is part of the foyer, he's just recording the foyer side of the window. If you don't want people seeing into that room, you need to put up a divider, or blinds.
This is the equivalent of building a glass bathroom, and then acusing passer-bys of being perverts.

The government expects the private citizen to be okay with mass surveillance but now that the people have turned the tables, they suddenly have a problem with it. Funny how that works.

They need to make the SECURED AREA Private by putting up curtains or blinds and close them.
I can film inside of any public building or personal residence that has their windows open, but as soon as their are closed curtains or blinds (which creates an Expectation of Privacy), then it becomes illegal to film.

The government wants to keep the people and public stupid on your constitutional rights. Think about it. Another way the government once again in this form steals moneys from us. I thought taxes was bad enough but uncle sam wants it all. The police are just yes men trying to harass and collect instead of serve and protect. Think about it...the government even controls what is taught in public schools. I went to a public school from 1st to 12th senior year, graduated with a high school diploma but never once was offered a course in constitutional rights or law or anything pertaining to our freedoms or liberties. Now why is that? Makes me think hmmmm..... Think about that for a moment folks. When you were in high school, were you taught about anything like that? I'm going to guess the answer is no. There is a reason why and that reason is the government wants to keep us uneducated and stupid of our constitutional rights so they can walk on us and control us "we the people."

So interesting how cops don't like to be baited, but baiting is a standard tactic that they use. The difference is that when cops bait it is done in hopes that the person they are baiting does take the bait so the cops can make an arrest. When auditors bait they do it in hopes that the bait isn't taken in order to show that the cops baited respect Constitutional rights! Same tactic, hugely different desired outcomes!

i dont think its really ignorance of the law.. those officers already had to deal with another auditor int he past, so im sure they brushed up on the law.. they just want to push their authority as far as they can.. even if they know they have no legal authority to stop this at all, they can act like they do and see how long the civilian holds their ground.. then they either back off if the civilian knows their rights, and bitch about it later while giving each other a consoling hand job, or the civilian backs down and they go in the back hyped up thumping their chest.. simple really..

It's a contradiction you can't serve the law if you don't know the law. I mean for all intents and purposes our justice system is a literal f****** joke. And the fact that they pretended to be stupid after the first auditor should be a criminal offense. In the US military they told us what the laws were and they didn't give us a pass for being stupid.

What the plaintiff (Smith) failed to prove, was that the police denied them that right. It was her word, against the police. The police didn't argue in court that she didn't have the right to record, they argued that they didn't prevent her from doing so. In this case there is irrefutable evidence in the form of the videotape that the police were violating the Constitution, by telling the journalist that he didn't have the inalienable rights that he has, as protected by the Constitution and first amendment. In that moment, they were operating in contravention of the highest law in the nation. Nobody gets to do that. Not even the President. Please understand, if the mayor himself showed up with a SWAT team and ordered people out of the building, he would have no legal right to do so, except under extraordinary circumstances like a national emergency or martial law. If they have reasonable business in the building, as he did, they are allowed to be there and record. The cops don't need to like it, but they must obey the law. When the Police ignore the law and Constitution, they devolve into the largest, best equipped street gang.
