I just discovered this channel and series, AND THIS IS ACTUALLY SICK! It's super unique and gives all the plants their own personality. Please keep it up!
Strong move from Brad for that insane Wasp catch. What a way to shake the competition even if he stays at 3rd position ! Remarkable. Looking forward to the next event !
In 2017 I walked past my shed, which apparently was home to this exact ‘wasp’ the Yellow Jacket. I got tagged 5 times, ended up with a blood infection, subsequent spinal infection which resulted if fusion surgery. GO VENUS FLYTRAP!!!!
i never thought in my life that one day i'd be saying how much i hate a plant and why a plant of the same exact species deserves to get fed a drop of blood
I find all this about carnivorous plants absolutely fascinating. They really are amazing plants. I will keep watching your videos as long as you make them. 👍
I absolutely love this concept. Your commentary and leader boards concepta are fantastic!! This is a really cool way of learning and teaching! Who knew Venus Fly traps were so cool! I wanted to ask if you could please list the previous entry or entries for this competition of sorts in the description? :) thanks again!! I couldn't find them.
For future reference, you might want to make the timer more fair; On spider's 2nd footage with the 0:43s record, it seems like the timer started when the fly was only walking around on spider's stem. Whilst the timer on crosstooth's footage started when the fly was already on the lobes. So to make it fair, you should decidee whether to start the timer since the fly is around, or from when the fly is on the lobes of the flytraps.
I think the bonus points from different insects could be awarded following the average weight of the caught insect. ie: the average green fly would be 40% lighter than a wasp. Would be interesting to see more rounds of this.
I don't know how I got to this video from the TH-cam algorithm but, best recommended video from TH-cam in years!! I love the content before even reaching the end of the first short, great work thanks!!
This appeared on my feed. If there's one thing I can't stand and that is flies in my kitchen 🤢 I'm also a lifelong asthmatic so won't use fly spray for obvious reasons - it's worse on me than it is on them. Must get a few Venus Fly Traps to dot around the kitchen. I did have one many years ago but it didn't last long. Got it from a local garden centre. They're fascinating plants so I've subscribed.
I definitely recommend you look further into the appropriate care needed because sadly the ones you buy at the store are meant to die rapidly with the low quality soil and lack of care
@@mouthwaterin It came from a garden centre that specialises in plants and not a supermarket where the poor plants are so neglected they're almost begging someone to buy them. It was down to me that the Venus Fly Trap died. I had it on my kitchen windowsill which gets full sun all day and I let it dry out. I won't make that mistake again. I'm in the UK but I'm sure there must be some stockists who specialise in that type of plant.
Idk what it is, but this is my new favorite channel on TH-cam. I’ve always been intrigued by VFTs I’ve also got stung twice this summer by a wasp and once by a Bald Faced Hornet (most painful sting I’ve ever endured) so it’s nice to see the wasps get taken as food..
I wonder if “Croos tooth” is so successful because of “his” brighter red coloration? More animals attracted, more catch opportunities. I used to work with tortoises. Red is the number one way to get their attention. Thanks!! What a cool channel!
Really interesting series! I know you've kinda already started but it could be cool to also see the times from start of closing to fully sealed. As it is now seems to just focus on how well they attract instead of how well they catch. Not sure how you'd score the two times together though.
That is something I considered, however I only have my iPhone to record so I don't have enough memory to record that long (each clips is already 3 hours). However, some other competitors in the future will be scored based off of how long it takes for them to "seal" around their food, and that's how they will be measured against eachother
The cilia on a "typical" Flytrap makes the traps even more effective than this bristle tooth type cultivar. Still a very high quality video. Well done.
I just found this and I am definitely gonna get called a tree hugger when I show this to my friends and say it’s cool, And it is actually cool, he deserves more subscribers.
Really enjoying your videos. I have a book coming out in the spring and I'll put the link to your channel in the Resources chapter. Keep at it, my friend.
Wasps are assholes. I did see a video where they were going "yoooo look at this thing tapping our pole! Yall gotta come see this!" as every wasp is leaving the nest with every tap
That catch by Crosstooth was epic. 4 freaking seconds! I reckon Spider has got some serious competition for the top of the board there. Brad giant 1 stands a good chance if it can speed up the catches though. I think Red's pretty much out of it, sorry to say. Great plant, great grip, but slow as treacle on the uptake.
I wanted to know why my one Venus fly trap isn’t growing. It’s sitting right next to my B-52 fly trap. They’re both sitting outside plenty of sunlight during the day. My B-52 is growing just fine but my other fly trap, It started to grow a little bit. I cut the flower stock and then I just stopped growing. Any advice would be great

I love this. I love the "personalities" and stories of the competitors.
This is better broadcasting than anything on ESPN. Bravo!!!

@TheFlytrapGarden you're the best !
All that vibrating and flailing the wasp is doing will just speed up the Flytrap’s process of producing acidic saliva. Suck on that, wasp!!!

Bro Red is like an anime main character with the “he’s the underdog” plot. Soo cool

Now you need to breed the strongest fly traps, to create the ultimate fly trap.
