"Old one is" 10-6-4-3-2-1. This one used in 2007 was 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1. (It's a bit controversial if 2 points is enough in between winner and the 2nd) :-) I think that 8 point scorers is a max. You shouldn't score a point from 10th place...
Man what a Race this one was and for all the die hard kimi fans, it was one of the best days of their lives......... the joy of kimi finally winning the World Title!!!!!!!!! Absolute Bliss!!!!!
The bullshit thing that overshadowed this celebration is that James Allen talked more about Hamilton loosing the title than Kimi winning it yet. Alonso also lost it, yet that was failed to be mentioned. He took away Kimi's moment of glory.
Getting sick of all the Hamilton fans saying he deserved the championship when he clearly didn't. Raikkonen had more bad luck earlier on in the season and McLaren cheated
Hamilton fans are retards, no exceptions. If I were Hamilton I would wonder why I only attract the dumbest nobheads, but then again he is mentally challenged as well so he'll never wonder.
I really hate this horrible british commentators being ultra biased towards the british drivers (especially hamilton). Its annoying, put american commentators and then we'll be happier
This was great day for Kimi and great day for Finland. I was 10 when I saw this, it was one of the best days of my life. Onnittelut Kimi, me luotetaan että sä voitat vielä paljon mestaruuksia tulevaisuudessa!:-)
ITV should've renamed it's coverage to "The Lewis Hamilton Championship". seeing this video again reminds me of what an atrocious commentator james allen was. it would be perfectly fine to have clearly biased commentators who provide coverage exclusively for their own country, but not on those who commentate on fucking world feeds. it was hilarious how allen kept making excuses for hamilton, and when brundle sets him straight by telling him kimi won the most races despite his car being the most unreliable, i can hear allen saying "STFU martin" in his mind.
Mark FormulaRacer I agree, the ITV coverage that was broadcast here in Canada was a complete disgrace. I'm sure you've watched the race, so I'm sure you'd know how many times they were openly hoping Alonso would pull off to let Hamilton win it, the same ones who chastised Ferrari for doing it in 2010. The fact is, Kimi drove amazingly, the Ferrari team had amazing reliability and nobody deserved to win it more after coming through from third in the standings.
+Mark FormulaRacer Ye, I mean ofcourse most commentators are bit biased towards their own countrymen, but for example here in Finland the commentators NEVER question the championship winner, in the end the one who collects most points deserve to be the champion....that doesnt mean that Hamilton for example would have not been deserving of winning the championship, but in the end only one can win it, and as professional commentator, you just have to be able to accept it and hide the bias as well as you can. Its totally fine to show emotion when your countryman wins, but also at moments of defeat you should be able to show bit more respect to the winner and here James Allen sounds so very bitter, questioning whether Kimi is worthy champion.
+Balnazzardi - thats good on the finnish commentators, but as i said, biased commentary is not a problem if it's only broadcast domestically. itv though broadcasted around the world, there were plenty of non-brits who dont give a fuck about lewis hamilton yet had to put up with james allen. the coverage i get currently where i am is BBCs (canadian here) and they have really annoying ads, at times i get fed up and just watch sky;s. it;s really sad though that sky provides the best coverage nowadays because their bias is worse than itvs- david croft in particular is unbearable. ben edwards from the bbc on the other hand is a brilliant commentator - shows no bias towards any particular driver, gives credit where its due, is enthusiastic, etc. he just loves the sport for what it is. bonus points for not getting butthurt when lewis hamilton loses.
+Mark FormulaRacer I bet it's still better than RTL's coverage here in Germany. Jesus Christ, even with Nico Rosberg (a German driver in a German team) winning four races in a row it's still all about Vettel. Honestly, you can take a shot of any alcoholic beverage each time Vettel's name is mentioned and you'd be drunk by the first round of pit stops. I remember a specific incident during the German GP in 2012 where Kimi, Perez & Kobayashi had an amazing three-way battle for several laps and all the commentator could take about was how Vettel was close to being in the DRS window of Button or Alonso or whoever was ahead of him. It's so bad I sometimes turn the audio off...
***** - well rosberg is not exactly german. he's more finnish than german imo, and speaks a multitude of other languages as well. 2010-2013 i'm sure was the vettel show for RTL. they did the same thing with schumacher from 2000-2004. also, i heard germany has been losing interest in formula 1 in recent times ?
That brings back memories, not all of them pleasant, notably James Allen practically ignoring the crowning of a new WDC and still blabbering on about Hamiltons lost opportunities, the bitterness almost palpable, and the lack of any comment when Brundle explained that Raikkonen had actually won more races than anyone and didn't just luck into it. Priceless.
The best memory i have as a Kimi fan! With the second best on one of Martin's grid walks...Kimi runs off when Martin finally catches up with him to ask where he went. Live on TV Kimi replied with '' i needed to have a sh*t '' ... bloomin classic!!!
TRUE WIKING POWER! that was the best year i ever seen in formula 1, ferrari had great cars, kimi drove amazingly good that year. i actually started to cry this race when i realized that a nordic driver just won the World championship in formula one, it was so wonderful, Miss U ICEMAN // Sweden
This was perhaps one of the most entertaining Formula 1 seasons with a 3-horse race for the championship despite all the controversy and chaos off the grid. And its always nice to see 2 teams fighting away with two cars of different driving characteristics. The Mclaren MP4-22 from the start had amazing mechanical grip, more power and better straight line speed. Which was why we saw it significantly dominated races like monaco, canada, monza and pretty much most races. While the Ferrari F2007 had a slightly better aero package, a longer wheelbase and was much kinder to its tyres all year. As the season, went on they were constantly developing the aero package of the car. Which was why it managed to dominate most races in the 2nd half of the season like Magny-cours, Silverstone, Spa and Interlagos.
2005-2010 was such a good era for F1. We had championship battles, constructor battles almost every year with 5 new world champions in 6 years and some championships going down to the wire with last races being the deciding one. It all went downhill from 2011.
kimi was my fav driver because he was one of those people who just drove for the hell of it, he wanted to win but he wasnt a glory hunter the way alonso is, and he never complained abount anything. Good luck at williams
Exactly my point. In McLaren, he was consistently in the spotlight as an incredibly fast driver. In 2007, he got off to a strong start but was out driven by Massa and the 2 McLarens. In 2008, he was yet again he was outshone by Massa and Hamilton. He was such an imposing driver on the grid when he was driving a silver car, but you just never got the same feeling when he drove the Ferrari. As you say, on SOME occasions he was great, but he was always on the sharp end with McLaren.
Well said. Variation is good for any sport and for Formula 1 in particular. A season with many different winners is also good because the champion ends up being it in a field with tight competition. People in general that don't know anything about F1 often say:"It's just the same team winning all the time." As for Red Bull. All respect to them. They are winning in an era with tough competition from well respected teams and a couple of really good ones becoming better and better (Mercedes).
This is the best driver on Earth, and now's he's going to NASCAR? Incredible. Whether you like him or not, you have to admit that he can drive and win in anything.
I may have been a Hamilton fan in These days (laso one year later when he finally achieved his biggest Goal), while today I am a Räikönnen fan, who did not give enough credit to the Finn back then. But even then I could accept the Situation, because of the third man that wasn´ t even mentioned: Alonso. I did enjoy so much to really see him go down in flames against not only Kimi, but also Lewis for the second place. This is what relieves me up tot this day (also because he took away two titles against my Idol Schumacher, and at least one directly).
that's how real Champions finish the season.. wining the last races.. celebrating in the podium... not in the middle of the pack wating for some miracle
+Kendra Hamilton That's the right kind of spirit I would wish to see more from the fans =) I mean I understand that you dont need to like every other driver, but sometimes the hate and booing that you hear for some drivers (like in case of Vettel or Rosberg in some races you could hear the crowd booing during podium ceremony), or like how Kimi has received quite a bit of trash talk because of his results during these last two seasons....I mean its a different thing to question whether he deserves to be in F1 anymore, and different thing to utterly bash the guy. So ye, glad to see there are some bit more mature fans as well =)
+Balnazzardi I agree ... I do not like the stupid I love / I hate this and that driver game, also ... BUT for me as Ferrari (mainly cheered for teams not for drivers all the years) fan you start to "hate" drivers / teams, because of the German TV commentators. To listen to the German commentors if you are not always and ever cheering to the Germans as a German makes you sick every single race - every single second of F1, GT and MotoGP races ... concerning sports German are still very national. (In Motorsports) For teams / manufacturers even more compared to drivers. F.ex. I liked Hamilton when he drove in GP2, already (and "nobody" knee him) ... but now - the German commentors / press "make" to "hate" every single littel success he has with Mercedes ...
Man I remember watching this - my heart was POUNDING LIKE CRAZY! I was like, "please don't crash, please dont blow up or something, please don't crash"... I knew he wasn't gonna crash, I knew his Ferrari was reliable, but his history of bad luck at McLaren was just haunting me! The final 2 laps seemed like ages. Then it finally came..! Then he left... :-( bringing "the fun of watching F1" along with him...
And that was his only reliability issue of the entire year. Raikkonen retired due to engine or car problems in Spain & Germany, along with poor luck all through that year (and 2005 & 2003 as well).
I think the most beautiful cars were in 1998-2000 when Häkkinen and Schumacher were fighting of the Champs. Those times... Sometimes they had lapped even their teammates and were the only 2 cars at the same lap! At least that's how I remember that :)
Alonso is a tougher fighter than Kimi... He really manages to squeeze from that snail much much more that it could give him! Kimi is a good driver and he was World Champion in a very difficult and close season, but Nando is far better than him when it comes to struggle with a weak car. Surely the team is working hard and their effort comes out now and then, but it will be necessary a lot of time and changes among technicians, engineers and designers to get back to the old greatness. I wanna hope they have started with Mattiacci, but it's gonna be a very long and slow process anyway and it's highly probable that nor Alonso nor Räikkönen will have the time to take advantage of it. But real Ferrari fans support the Team, no matter who the drivers are, and we've learnt over the years the meaning of the word PATIENCE... We know how to stay strong and wait...
0809AriAri "but Nando is far better than him when it comes to struggle with a weak car." That may be true but you conveniently ignore some facts: First of all the car doesn't suit Kimi's style of driving at all and it was developed for Alonso in mind. On top of that Ferrari currently struggles to set the car up to his liking and admit to having problems themselves, much to their chagrin. Second of all Kimi doesn't race for points but races to win. He's not the kind of driver who wants a 5'th place if he 6'th, especially not when he's not in contention for the title. Everybody knows either Nico Rosberg or Lewis Hamilton will be world champion this year. Their fight for the title will be remembered. One of the Red Bull driver's will most likely be third, right now Daniel Ricciardo has won two races, so people will remember him. Who remembers Prost's valiant and professional drive in Ferrari 1991? He finished on the podium 5 times that season and had 3 front row starts. Despite this he was a distant 5'th in the standings. Prost was already a 3 time world champion and the most successful driver in the history of F1 at that time. An even better example: Gilles Villeneuve was probably the best racer ever and he truly could make a dreadful car appear decent and competitive. Alan Jones (1980 champion) said that he was amazed how Villeneuve never gave up even if that car was crap and he had no chance in winning the race. Villeneuve did a lot better than Scheckter in the horrible 1980 Ferrari. He even led a race for a single lap. Had not Villeneuve been a Ferrari driver I doubt many would have noticed him, he ended the season a distant 14'th. Kimi sees no reason to race the wheels of a car he cannot win in, or challenge the dominance of the Mercedes cars, or even the Red Bulls. Least of all in a car that doesn't suit him. So he waits for the team to provide him with a car suiting his style of driving or a competitive one. Alonso's efforts are pretty much for nought once the season is over. He sure hasn't improved the car over the four seasons he drove for Ferrari. And if it isn't his fault then it's Ferrari's and he's wasting his time there waiting for them to improve. When it comes to pure speed I think Kimi has the edge. 40 fastest laps says so. Only Schumacher and Prost have more. Speaking of Prost he managed 41 fastest laps in 202 races. Kimi 40 in 204 races. Not too shabby, right? To put it in perspective with the present day drivers, Kimi's average of 19,6% beats Vettel's 17,5% (23 in 131 races), Hamilton's 11,4% and Alonso's 9,2% (21 in 228 races). Kimi's 4 wins in Spa is also hard to overlook or trivialize. Hamilton robbed him of 5 wins in a row in 2008 with his illegal overtaking, which cost him dearly after the race. Only Schumacher and Senna have more win in Spa, 6 and 5. As for Ferrari, I know their fans have patience. They waited for 21 years to have another drivers' world champion when Schumacer finally won in 2000 after Scheckter's title in 1979. So they'd best be prepared to wait for maybe a bit longer than the 7 years they've waited so far. Even Kimi's title was lucky, since Hamilton shot himself in the foot two races in a row. Since Kimi have had plenty of bad luck before it was only fair he had some good luck coming his way for once. If I were Ferrari I'd try to find a young, fresh, promising driver. Neither Alonso nor Kimi are at the stage they feel they have prove themselves anymore. It will be Ferrari's fault, not theirs if they don't challenge for either title.
OneTwoEight Commodore as for the car suiting the driver, montoya came from williams (understeering) to the oversteering mclaren suiting kimi and finished 2005 not that far behind, even leading him until his accident
Kimi deserves to be champion he is a great driver and one of the 3 greatest actually with Lewis and Fernando. But for me Lewis is still the best, amazing condution and maneveur and the fastest!
Kimi you are the best driver, vettel is a show off ( but Vettel wins because he has the best car ). It was one of the best moment of my life when you are championship, I had very stress during all the race and I can't leave my TV ^^ Alonso, Button and you are the most beautiful championship in the world =)
no actually the car did eat the tires that year. only in france they could get it working because the track had gotten a new super grippy surface and speed counted much more than making the tires last as long as you can.
actually it was ferrari that decided to keep alonso out, not alonso himself. he explained after the race that the team thought it would be ok for 2 or 3 laps but just before he got to the pit entrance the team realised the damage was worse but it was too late.
As a mclaren fan i was chuffed when i finally watched raikkonen crowned world champion. He had an unreliable car at mclaren in 2005 and should have won the WDC.
As a Brit, naturally I wanted Hamilton to win the title that year. However, considering that it was his debut season but I felt at the time that Raikkonen was a worthy champion, considering that he had narrowly missed out on the title before and had won more races than anyone else that year too (6 to Hamilton and Alonso's 4 apiece). What it did do (Hamilton's performance that season) was set a new benchmark for what a rookie could achieve. The pressure of being in one of if not the best car, making very few mistakes and (just barely) beating the title holder from the previous two years driving the same car (regardless of the internal politics) can't imagine bigger pressure. His drive at Fuji was the standout in my view, very dangerous conditions where the race probably shouldn't have taken place, not only keeping the car on track in the conditions but be able to master them better than others, causing the collision between Vettel and Webber aside (he was reprimanded owing to the conditions being worse than anyone had ever seen, or not). Incidentally, much was made of the Alonso and Hamilton rivalry in McLaren in 2007. But I get the impression that Alonso never had a problem with Hamilton when they were teamed together (they amicably made up after the fallout they had in Hungary), but it was more the way the team was run at the time
ye, atleast Martin Brundle and David Coulthard are always unbiased and always remain professional...but then again they are former F1 drivers....even Eddie Jordan can be quite biased sometimes, but that's all the more reason why I loved to hear what Brundle and Coulthard had to say, wish they still were working together.
Those Were The Cars my friend ..we thought they'd never end...we watched and watched FIA Comes up with stupid LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWs Those were THE Cars my friend Miss the old days ;'(
1 point off.. that's the racing we want to see today
exactly
Pisk we need to bring back the old point system first!
Can you explain the old point system? I am a new F1 fan.
@GT012345tube yes
Who came here to see Kimi happy?
me :D
me :D
me
Bwoah
You
Man what a Race this one was and for all the die hard kimi fans, it was one of the best days of their lives......... the joy of kimi finally winning the World Title!!!!!!!!! Absolute Bliss!!!!!
+Kong Weltall Not only for the Kimi, but for the Ferrari fans, also ;) Great season from Kimi ... by the way ... great race of Kimi, today
+Sebastian Schuh He got second everytimes in Bahrain :)
+Kong Weltall Totally Mate!
Kong Weltall the description? really?
Being a Kimi fan, I remember this day very well :)
The bullshit thing that overshadowed this celebration is that James Allen talked more about Hamilton loosing the title than Kimi winning it yet. Alonso also lost it, yet that was failed to be mentioned. He took away Kimi's moment of glory.
Ethan Cage british bias as usual
Such a disappointing call from Allen
Getting sick of all the Hamilton fans saying he deserved the championship when he clearly didn't. Raikkonen had more bad luck earlier on in the season and McLaren cheated
Ya,you don't deserve it if you cheated anyways
Hamilton fans are retards, no exceptions.
If I were Hamilton I would wonder why I only attract the dumbest nobheads, but then again he is mentally challenged as well so he'll never wonder.
How do you deserve a championship when you finish 7th in the biggest race of the season in the best car on the track? Talk about piss-poor nerves
He complains too much anyways and also james allen keeps saying things to comfort and consolate hamilton
Thing is, Hamilton under pressure is not Hamilton, is like Alex Yoong, that's why he sucks, and also he is an asshole
I don't know what it is, but I love that 2007 Ferrari. One of my favorite F1 cars of all time!
+Kyle Niquette I really liked the car since they invented the side wings during the season ...
I really like the barcode on the livery
You know it's biased commentary when they are banging on about ways in which Hamilton can win long after the chequered flag has been waved.
***** Ham's a talented driver. But they are biased, always have been, PERIOD!
I remember it all. The commentary was biased all year.
I don't like James Allen bumming off Hamilton all year. You can have both, like Murray, or Martin
I really hate this horrible british commentators being ultra biased towards the british drivers (especially hamilton). Its annoying, put american commentators and then we'll be happier
definitely not.
Formula 1 is beautiful with red cars 1-2. Missin those dayz
This was great day for Kimi and great day for Finland. I was 10 when I saw this, it was one of the best days of my life. Onnittelut Kimi, me luotetaan että sä voitat vielä paljon mestaruuksia tulevaisuudessa!:-)
It's a nice feelings for a driver to win a championship and at the same time you also win the race.
yes... And then There is Fillipe next year.. :D

i love it how massa didn't pass kimi and let him do his winning lap... pure respect!
7 years later, he's gonna do it again :)
7 years later, he should make some miracle...
You spoke out of turn.
8 years later, he´s gonna do it again :)
It's ALONSO who's gonna leave Maranello, not Kimi...
Yeah.... About that....
This is real Champion not like now days when you only race against your teammate.
Thanks!! I think all the fans still have that moment in their minds... GO KIMI!!!!
Kimi should have 3 time world champion 😔
I MISS THE OLD FERRARI & KIMI. :')
I swear I got goosebumps watching Kimi drive that last lap. Sheer awesomeness!
So happy for Kimi!
i still get emotional when i remember that day!!! amazing... he is the best... I can wait to see him winning again!! GO KIMI!!!

The mid-late 00s cars look amazing. All the winglets and elegant lines were beautiful. Honestly, they look better than the modern cars.

damn i miss kimi:( a legend come,s back. but another legend goes away:( please kimi come back
That was a legendary World Titel Win for Kimi and Ferrari.
This is the reason why the Red is so incredible, The passion is unbreakable.
6:26 Holy shit that nose !
Yeah. The noses started getting ugly after this. They've still not recovered, except for Mercedes.
This is the best driver on Earth, and now's he's going to NASCAR? Incredible. Whether you like him or not, you have to admit that he can drive and win in anything.
Kimi you are the best pls come back !!
Kimi is the Best! I really hope that Kimi will be the World Champion in 2013 again. Go Kimi Go!! Good luck in Shanghai!

he deserves so many more titles

The best best race i ever watched :D
You have right! I agree with you! In 2003 just damned 2 points was missing for Kimi.
How is it possible? 10 years ago ...time goes too fast
Ok it's all over, it's all over Hamilton seventh Hamilton seventh, by my calculations we win the championship for one point
It was amazing race I couldn't sleep all night
I am a Hamilton fan, but I like Kimi too :)
Me too Kendra Hamilton hugs

To listen to the German commentors if you are not always and ever cheering to the Germans as a German makes you sick every single race - every single second of F1, GT and MotoGP races ... concerning sports German are still very national. (In Motorsports) For teams / manufacturers even more compared to drivers. F.ex. I liked Hamilton when he drove in GP2, already (and "nobody" knee him) ... but now - the German commentors / press "make" to "hate" every single littel success he has with Mercedes ...
such a domination of ferrari. love the fact that both red cars were just cruising together after the race
what a joyous day this was, fantastic, brilliant, whatever you want to call it, and to take the title, Hamilton finishing a whole lap down, love it.
always perfect!!! kimi come back
Man I remember watching this - my heart was POUNDING LIKE CRAZY!
Kimi really deserve this championship after all the the bad luck.
6 World Champions on the grid next year. Can't. Wait.
best season of the decade!
You forget just how beautiful these cars were.
i couldnt wait for this day to come for two years after the schumacher empire!kimi deserved it!
I think he is one of the coolest personalities to ever win it
I miss F1 when it was this way... Ahh this brings back memories
Absolutely, the best driver for now in my book :)
Mr consistent. He hasn't changed:)
Love James Allen reaction when Raikkonen crossed the line to win the title.
Wish Kimi new victories for Ferrari in 2014! Kimi know what to do, just leave him alone!)))
He can't be left alone, he needs a team making him a car if he wants to race... Kimi knows what to do, but does the team know what THEY gotta do?😭
0809AriAri judging by a podium finish for alonso, they kinda do somewhat
We know how to stay strong
and wait...
0809AriAri "but Nando is far better than him when it comes to struggle with a weak car."
That may be true but you conveniently ignore some facts: First of all the car doesn't suit Kimi's style of driving at all and it was developed for Alonso in mind.
I still remeber watching this race (in german so i didnt understand it lol) and counting tye points to realize that Kimi would become the champ.
This is the best moment in F1 history.
ONE OF THE FEW TIMES THAT KIMI SMILE
Kimi Is The Best..!!! And always be..
great to watch
Kimi deserves to be champion he is a great driver and one of the 3 greatest actually with Lewis and Fernando. But for me Lewis is still the best, amazing condution and maneveur and the fastest!
i agree with you.i'm always with ferrari
in 2007 i hated alonso but now i am with he
Yes he did, on occasion. if not as consistently. Remember Spa 2008 and 2009? Yes, 2008 ended in a spin and crash, but after such an inspiring battle.
I was absolutely paralized. I cried so hard that i couldnt even call my brother and tell the news.
I agree..but the best for 2010 is yet to come..
Great memories
Great answer.
@SStheruler Now that is passion! haha.. its good to see him back.
well said. at least we agree on something. nice debating with ya anyway dude. I like discussing F1 with people who care about F1 like i do. gluck
Kimi you are the best driver, vettel is a show off ( but Vettel wins because he has the best car ). It was one of the best moment of my life when you are championship, I had very stress during all the race and I can't leave my TV ^^
Alonso, Button and you are the most beautiful championship in the world =)
what a freaking beautiful car
no actually the car did eat the tires that year. only in france they could get it working because the track had gotten a new super grippy surface and speed counted much more than making the tires last as long as you can.
I love James Allen's quote at approx. 4:20
"The world championship's turned completely 360" LOL
kimi please come back. he is the greatest driver in his era i think his better then alonso mclaren did not provide him a good car
yeah right that's why they won the world championship for the past 2 years
BEST YEAR OF ALL YEARS IN F1...
actually it was ferrari that decided to keep alonso out, not alonso himself. he explained after the race that the team thought it would be ok for 2 or 3 laps but just before he got to the pit entrance the team realised the damage was worse but it was too late.
But I get the impression that Alonso never had a problem with Hamilton when they were teamed together (they amicably made up after the fallout they had in Hungary), but it was more the way the team was run at the time
The cars of 2007 and 2008 were the best looking cars in F1 history.
ye, atleast Martin Brundle and David Coulthard are always unbiased and always remain professional...but then again they are former F1 drivers....even Eddie Jordan can be quite biased sometimes, but that's all the more reason why I loved to hear what Brundle and Coulthard had to say, wish they still were working together.
Engineer: "its all over, hamiltons seventh", Kimi: "Don't talk to me in the middle of the corner"
Those Were The Cars my friend ..we thought they'd never end...we watched and watched FIA Comes up with stupid LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWs
Those were THE Cars my friend
Miss the old days ;'(
this is very unbiased commentary...........
