I don't understand people that always want tab... Man, if you love these songs, you'll search for those licks ! Yes, it takes time. Yes, it's difficult, but you'll learn much more by using your ears. So I thank you so much Scott for your videos. I'm only 15 and I made so much progress thanks to you. Those boys were crazy !!! 🤠
Preach! You are wise beyond your years. 👍🏼
Dumb response
Yep, kills me when people ask to have tabs, i mean he just showed you how to play it
Thank you very much, Mr. Raines. If you have chance, say hello to Artimus. Wish you guys all the best.
A pleasure to see you back in action my good Sir! I'm very much obliged to you and I hope this finds you and yours well and in good spirits. May peace be upon you
Thank you for the tutorial. One of my all time favorite Skynyrd songs. There’s hardly no tutorials of these solos anywhere and it’s easily some of the bands best work.
Ive bin waiting years for this .. ❤❤❤❤
Your tutorials keep the music alive and are so good and pick up the fine details. I still love your comment about Sweet Home when you say you practice it almost everyday and still hear new things. Me too! The simplest song, but also the most complex. That Smell is another one and am so glad we have you to help us.
If I could loop your part 2 of that smell and every mothers son guitar work….. that’s all I would play when driving!…. Cranked up …blessings Scott and thanks.
Thank you for watching!
Skynyrd were geniuses 😳 amazing how each player added to the other!
Totally agree!
I was thinking that too! How young and creative to put all that guitar work together so tasty that people all these years later are amazed.
Great job Scott. Fantastic job!!! I love (all) the (Real Lynyrd Skynyrd) solos but in my opinion, That Smell is the GREATEST they ever written .
Thamk you so much for this, and for the great songs you teach us. Nobody does it better than you.
Thank you so much for watching!
I can't tell you how much this helps. Thank you so much, Scott!
Cause Im SEARCHING. Another good Skynards song.
These videos never fail to show me numerous little techniques that go along way in my playing overall. Always a groovier nastier funkier way to do something I’ve taken for granted. Thank you Sir!
Thank you for watching!
Awesome so Happy to see you posting more skynyrd lessons
Thank you for your indepth tutorials. Great detail and explanations. Been playing this and other Skynrd sounds for years and you have showed some segments I didn't have quit right. Thanks for your time and details.
You sir, are awesome! I just started learning to play this song a few days ago, so these new videos are a huge help to me. I've got some of the lead work down "fairly" well but have much work to do. Thank you for doing these tutorials. They are so helpful!
Thanks for watching, Ken!
Thanks for the videos. Good to see you posting again.
Clever captivating chops. I Dont have any questions. It's ALL right there to see 👀. Thx so much for showing ALL the parts I couldn't figure out ever without your accurate lesson.
Thank you for watching!
Much appreciated. Love this song!!
Sir, Outstanding demonstration & tutorial !!! Thank You. Just saw APB's clip from the Grand Ole Oprey. Congratulations !!!
Awesome! Thank you!
Just fantastic - thanks so much for sharing the breakdown of all these iconic songs! Hugely appreciated 🤩
Thank you for all your videos ..APB band is fantastic band..have you heard of those guys in the Lexington Lab band..They do a few
Skynyrd songs as well as many others. They are dam awesome too. Thank you so much
Man.. Tim you're a special player my friend. Gary, Steve and Alan played some nasty licks on so many songs. But I feel this song may be one of the most complex song ever. You breaking these parts down is so cool Tim. You totally channel brother Steve imo when you play. My brother and I have loved playing this tune when we get together since the record came out. I want to thank you for doing this video on Thanksgiving weekend it means so much. I hope you had a great day with those you love. All the best..😎
who's Tim?
Sounds good to me great work thanks for sharing!!
This is great, thanks Scott. Had tickets to see you guys in Jersey but Covid had other plans. Hopefully you’ll be back soon.
BEST
That is awesome good grief
On 15:50 there’s a syncopation lick that Gaines does bubba. Nobody has to do exactly like him but it’s indeed there. Because he hits that beat then comes up with a bend on the off beat.
Yeah I do that different ways depending on my mood. Most times I’ll do pull offs or slide.
@@seraines I only gave my input because in the video you asked if what you were playing was right according to the way it’s played on the record. It’s good that you can throw in some of your own ideas in there. You showed me some things I wasn’t hearing in some Lynyrd Skynyrd songs too, so thank you and keep up the good work.
@@incognitivedistortion8800 Thank you! I always welcome input. 👍🏼
Man yea! Been waiting on that one
Good to see you back 👍
Thanks Sensei....always good to spend time with your videos!
Great vid!
Very comprehensive and easy to follow tutorial Sir! Thanks for the great content.
Thank you!
Thank You......
great
Been listening to this song. Their mysic for 55 years. Why i always wished i learned scales before chords. Cause they master the scales.
I’m working on some videos that will help with that.
Thanks, really appreciate you sharing! Caught you guys in Austin at the biker rally a few yrs back...really enjoyed that show. That was a sweet kit Artimus was playing, too. Cheers👍
Hope to see you at another show in 24!
@@seraines Usn's,too. We'll keep an eye out for Texas dates! Good luck,ya'll👍
Very nice frynd!
IMHO The best example of the three guitar attack in the bands catalog! Man those Gaines part are both Simpler and yet More Complicated then I thought.
Then again what was simple with his stuff.
Thanks for the video! Can’t wait till the next time y’all hit up NJ!
Oak Tree Your In My Way, R.I.P. Mr. Rossington, Cousin Figel
One of my all time favorites Scott...it's a difficult multilayered tune with some strange dissonance (E-D) that shouldn't work but does. You DEFINITELY rocked it! I cheat like hell and don't even get close to right but for a bunch of drunks we (old farts) always get the "YOU FOOKERS ROCK" screams....hehe It really needs a guitar army to make it sound this good and we don't have a guy that can keep up but MAN! I'd LOVE to spend a couple days getting it down and just nail it on stage just one frikin time! hehe The calls and answers give me shivers every time. Handing off back and forth blows me away too. Thanks once again Scott....I've learned more great stuff from you than you can imagine....rock on!
Love it 😊
This is one of those challenging songs that your tutorial has been extremely helpful in figuring out. Especially when there are multiple guitar parts. Thanks Scott!
Thank you for watching! 🙏🏼
Thank you so much for this video!! I was just learning the intro, then I found your lesson. Excellent work my friend!! Thanks again!
This one will take a minute!😂
your skynyrd lessons are the best...thank you so much, i love their music and your lessons really help in learning how to play their songs.
Thank you for watching! 🙏🏼
Yes thanks for the video! I hope you and yours have a Happy Thanksgiving !
Happy Thanksgiving!
Scott, I love the riffs. So I have been learning them once section at a time, then slowly stitching them together. Then I play it with the song. Wow it moves fast and I am trying to keep up. Just loving the process one step at a time. But I am making great progress. I just cannot get behind the runs. Its so cool!
Perfect!
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Scott, you guys killed it last night in Clearwater. Absolutely loved your acoustic version of Tuesday’s Gone ❤ Thank you Sir, that was a truly special evening. Best to you and yours, Artimus, and The Outlaws.
Thank you for coming to the show! 🙏🏼
Great video Scott, thanks! I play a lot of the same songs and just switched to a toneX live. I'd love a video talking about how you play these old school songs on a digital rig like a Kemper. After 30 years of tube amps its a lot of adjusting! I'd be super curious how many "sounds" a night you use.
It’s not a modeler. It’s a profiler. The files are actual tube amps that have been profiled into the unit. I can take them with me while leaving the heavy stuff at home. 👌🏼
@@seraines thank you! And yes this would be an amazing video to watch you geek out on !!!
I remembers one of my other mentors didn't do tabs, something to do with copyrights
YES, that's another reason.
Very kewl, Scott! I woke up this Thanksgiving Eve to your vids on this great tune! Normally, this is a bittersweet day, being the Anniversary (60th) of JFK’s assassination. Unfortunately, It’s also my bday (11/22/63). While I’m certainly grateful for what I have, and glad to be alive & well, the pallor of the defining moment of a Gen hangs over this day. TYVM for this unintentional bday gift! This great ditty has a lot of layers and nuance, and you peel that onion and distill it down perfectly! BTW, I got the “Street Survivors” Blu-ray set after hearing you plug it on another one of your vids. I didn’t realize that it had been released until I saw that. Hopefully, I can get to your upcoming NJ APB show and get it signed and meet the band and yourself. Cheers!
Come on!
I just realized that I had missed the 11/11 Newton NJ date…du’oh! The days all blend. At least there’s the festival date in spring ‘24!
Thank you for these excellent videos !! That Hughes is SWEET, love that split hummer option. Are those proprietary Randy wound pups or custom market like Duncans or Lollars? I know 90% is your awesome touch, but they sound great.👍
Thank you, Mike! Pickups are Lindy Fralin 👌🏼
@@serainesyeah i just went and invested the particulars on their website and saw that, guess i shudda done that first instead of bugging you, but i never been accused of being very smart 😂
@@mikereynolds3294 All their guitars are custom, so you can get whatever you want in them.
@@serainesi see they make a bass that is a “Fowler” model…… when are we getting a “Raines” artist model ? 🤞🤣
The computer your using- is it only for a database of songs or do you also use it as a (not sure the correct terms to use) "modeling" to dial in the sound of your guitar? or are you using a separate amp. Thanks....great videos
I’m using my Mac for my DAW (Studio One) to record the audio tracks. My amps are profiled into a Kemper profiler, which runs direct into the DAW.
Curious. Do you find it harder to play slowed down because it wasn't written slow, and possibly because at full speed it becomes more muscle memory than "thinking it" ? I had a spine injury a year ago and I'm still struggling to play things I've played on auto pilot forever. Suggestions ???
For me, it’s muscle memory. I always recommend practicing small portions with a metronome. Start as slow as you need to and work your way up slowly.
In songs that I’m able to play fast, slowing them down with a metronome and working on technique helps clean it up when I play at regular speed.
Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
Hi Scott, what guitar are you using, sounds great? I’m excited that I got to see the licks as they’re done. Basically, I had much of them right, for the parts I do in the band. There were some quirks on timing which I got better listening to you go over them. I’m 70 now and still want to do another big concert type gig like I did with my old band and with the band I’m in now, I just might get to do that….if I can remember all the stuff. I’m not use to doing things exactly like the record because I just played songs and made them sound like the band I was doing. Thanks again. You big guys don’t have to do this and us locals really appreciate you showing it straight on.
It’s a Hughes Strat prototype. Link is in the video description. Randy and Will have made 2 Hughes guitars for me. They are now working on a Strat model similar to this one. They are amazing!
🇺🇲🤘🤪🤘🇺🇲
Collins was great.
Scott, appreciate you so much, but that modeling amp digital harshness is making this unlistenable for me. It grates on my ears. At 62, I've been playing tube amps for 50 years, and trust me, there is a huge difference to my ears between tubes and digital.
Thanks for enduring!
It’s a profiler. Not a modeler.
Brother, You don’t even have to mention tabs , dammit, you’re showing people how to play it. They don’t need tabs.
