About the video where the guys almost get swallowed by the humpback whale, chances are it was actually trying to protect them from the Orca down below. Humpbacks have been known to protect other whales, seals, and even humans sometimes against other dangerous creatures.
Once a diver was terrified because a humpback kept bumping into her for like, 15 minutes (more or less), until she realized that on the other side of the whale was a shark. They’ve also been seen helping seals back on top of icebergs or even carrying then on top of them to keep them away from hungry Orcas. A group was also seen bullying an orca for 7 hours after it killed a baby whale of a different species.
And they couldn’t even eat you if they tried. Their mouths aren’t made for eating meat, which is why you see it spitting out fish later at the end of the clip. Although it might be dangerous to get caught up on its mouth, since it’s teeth are still very sharp and would probably cut you, if you rolled into a ball you wouldn’t fit into its throat, and it would just open its mouth and let you swim out safely. Point is, they’re really not dangerous.
Ps: most info gathered from Casual Geographic TH-cam channel
Sorry for the extremely long comment

@@sonicartzldesignerclan5763 in the wild, no, but there have been some in captivity. Point is, the humpbacks can recognize the whale as a danger to others, even if the Orca was probably more interested in something else.

@@thevictorian8920 dude theres no wildlife orca that attack humans.

    • @thevictorian8920
      @thevictorian8920 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

@@sonicartzldesignerclan5763 as I said, the humpback whales are smart enough to know that the Orca might be dangerous. While an attack would be extremely difficult (we’re not worth the calories), the whale can still tell its a possible threat. And nothing can get in the way of an adult humpback, they can grow to twice the size of an Orca, and there’s no way they would risk the damage it could cause back. Don’t get me wrong, young humpbacks are considered meals for Orcas, but not full frowns adults. And just because there haven’t been any wild orca attacks on humans doesn’t make it safe to swim around them. If they can eat moose, they can certainly take out one of us. The chances are low, but never 0

      you all weird
The ocean is part of us part of the nature
      Thats where we come from
      The ocean isnt creepy
The ocean is a beauty wonderfuel 4d paradise.
Atleast in the ocean we can move and have a feeling of free space 4d like i said
The animals are all super interesting and most of them are friendly towards humans.
Most of you are just afraid cause youre traumatized by the fake media all the years.
Like most people are afraid of sharks
      But dolphin are cute
Cause cartoons and stuff teach it that way
But watch how many shark attacks happen each year
And then watch how many dolphins.
Dolphin has like x300 amounts of sharks.
Also dolphin actually already ra** a human.
People need to start educate themself and stop be afraid of the unknown.

@@rampster actually, fun fact: freshwater makes bodies decompose much faster than salt water or air, cuz salt is a preservative (and obviously water is gonna make things fall apart quicker). But at the same time it's often much calmer that salt water, and can tend to feature fewer critters to come from miles around to strip the meat off your bones, so maybe that's what you're thinking of.

Seems like all other media I watch reminds me of the things I'm anxious about. But I live in the mid west far far away from the ocean, so I can get out this nervous energy on a topic that literally doesn't affect me and never will because I'm damn sure I'll never swim in the ocean.
Anyway, hope that made sense. You help my anxiety by giving me different anxiety and I really appreciate that.

Casual Geographic just posted a video a couple days ago talking about how humpback whales will actually harass killer whales and save animals from them. He highlighted an example where a humpback whale surfaced and rolled onto its belly so a seal could sit on it and escape the orcas chasing it. Makes you wonder if the humpback whale in that one video may have been trying to protect the divers from the orca

At 11:38 we're peering into the bridge of the sunken Edmund Fitzgerald. Lots of bodies are still in there because unlike the sea, the freshwater lake is the perfect temperature to preserve bodies. And they don't float to the surface either. My first time scuba diving I was with this woman who changed her mind and was freaking out on the boat so I just held on to the safety line looking down into the water. At first it was calming. But floating there looking into the depths of nothingness it really does allow the mind to wander to scary places. The actual scuba dive was great once we were on the ocean floor. But I will never float faced down when I can't see the bottom again haha

This is my new favorite channel! Foreal. I had never even thought to look up the name of my phobia, I just knew I had it. Seeing Jaws at 7yo might explain my thalassophobia, with a particular emphasis on megalohydrothalassophobia. I think my Google search led to a TH-cam suggestion and I hesitantly decided to torture myself. You popped up and I’m loving your reactions!
I, like you, also really appreciate the ocean and its terrifying beauty. I would give anything to be in a 100% safe, guaranteed by Buddha/God/Allah/Flying Spaghetti Monster/and the energy throughout the universe connecting all things themselves promising me I will not die, and go down to the darkest depths to see some crazy shit. Like James Cameron, I want there to be sweet, angelic looking, bioluminescent aliens in the deep who will raise their ship up from the ocean’s floor to tell humanity to get their shit together or they will blast all the humans into tiny bits and leave the world for the creatures. And then Leonardo DiCaprio dies.
I’m trying to psyche myself up to do an Alaskan cruise next year. But just the thought of it gives me anxiety. I’ve been whale watching once and crossed the Puget Sound on a ferry four times in nine years. That’s as daring as I get. And I got shanghaied into the whale watching trip!
The humpback encounter with the scuba divers in this video damn near made my heart explode! There are some nightmare inducing photos of a scuba diver getting sucked into a Bryde whale’s mouth and then being spat back out. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6786247/amp/Incredible-moment-diver-spat-WHALE-getting-sucked-in.html
    I’m dead, yo.
Alright, I’m off to watch more of your thalassophobia videos before bed, like an idiot. I’m really hoping to be a little more desensitized before I buy my ticket for that cruise! 😂
