JFK to Singapore is the longest flight now, it’s 18 hours and 40 minutes. I was lucky to fly it in first class and it was enjoyable, but still long. Can’t believe you were able to do this without getting bored

Had the chance to ride this train this summer, what an incredible experience that was getting to see the immensity of the Sahara desert and the clear star lit sky at night is something I will remember for the rest of my life, and to share it with Mauritanian people who are some of the nicest and kindest people on earth made the experience even more special and incredible, One should definitely experience that at least once in their lifetime if given the opportunity. Forever grateful 🇲🇷♥️
@@zethembisonxumalo794 you just got to find a way to get to choum or zouerate, there’s not much public transportation that goes there, so I would advise to hire a driver it shouldn’t be that expensive. Once you’re there you just wait for the train and hop on. Bring some covers and warm clothes as the night and early morning are chilly. And don’t worry about being a female traveller Mauritanians are some of the most friendly and respectful people around, I’d also advise you to learn a little french or Arabic as English is spoken by almost no one, especially in remote areas. Hope you’ll get to do it it’s an experience like no other.

That's an epic Journey. This reminds me of my 20 hour Journey in an Indian Bus (I know you've had really bad experiences there Drew) and Taxi from Hamirpur, HP. to a remote Himalayan town called Kaza in Spiti Valley. I and my travel mate inadvertently crossed the disputed Indo-China border near Shipki-La Pass and ended up getting caught by Indian Border Patrol (thankfully). It was an impromptu trip, very poorly planned in middle of Himalayan winters, we thankfully ended up safe but one of my best travel stories so far...you're right...best adventures happen when you're out of your comfort zone!
this is a different kind of adventure, but i’m not complaining it was a really cool video and trip :) very unique and also i loved the collab with thomas. you should do this more often!

@@TankEngine75 it's not dangerous, just exhausting. The main dangers are the chocs when it starts or stops (due to it's length) and the dust on the loaded trains. Drew rode on the head of the train, where the dust is not so much a problem. Of course you can also pay to ride in the passenger coach or the staff vans at the end of the train, which are much more confortable.

Hey Drew! I was wondering if the driver of the train knew that you were actually on the train, and what was it like when they finally dropped off the iron ore
of course the drivers know that there are passengers on the iron ore cars, it is allowed to travel that way on the train. The train stops outside of Nouadhibou to drop off the passengers and the train then travels on for 30 minutes to Cansado, where the iron ore is offloaded. It is not allowed to ride to Cansado.
Brings back memories of my first train hop out on a Florida orange train line and after 20 hours... Waking up in an iron mine with my best friend. And all train rides that came after. You should try train hopping in north America. Really gives you a new perspective most people only using roads and vehicles almost never see . Love

This is why people should watch multiple travel TH-camrs. A few weeks ago, I watched Bald and Bankrupt's video when he was in Mauritania and it really pissed me off and felt sorry for him for having a bad time there with the locals. However, now that I watched Drew's video, it really made me happy that Mauritanians are actually not that bad as shown in Bald and Bankrupt's video. I'm not sure of this but I think that the reason there is this difference between the two is that maybe Drew is more considerate and careful when filming people and the streets while Bald and Bankrupt is more like an arrogant sometimes and he likes to make fun of the locals.
You are absolutely right. Bald is a little arrogant and sometimes does crazy things but you must also realize that Drews videos are heavily edited but Balds videos are more raw and gives you an accurate picture of what's going on.
About 'making fun of the locals'...he never seems to mean anything bad about it. Perhaps people took it the wrong way, understandable if theyre from a different culture. And especially if they have trouble understanding him. But yeah, I dont think he means anything bad..

lots of people ride this train, the problem is the iron dust on the loaded trains damages electronic equipment, so you are advised to put any electronic devices into sealable bags.
I don't know much about this country , am living in Tanzania but the only sad information I have about this country is Slave Trade or Slavery still exist...I read and watch through medias. Someone has to come and explain if it's true or untrue with valid explanations
I have a lot of opinions on East Africa confederation , to summarize it East Confederation can't easily work , these countries already have many Internal challenges like Tribalism in Kenya , Corruption in Kenya , Income and Land inequalities in Kenya...I don't think or believe Tanzanians are ready to be on same plate with Kenyans..it can be ok for Ugandans , Burundi , Rwandans , Congolese but not easy for Kenyans

Even though they are on a really uncomfortable train, on a really long journey, it's one of the best experiences of their life. Tells you something about what makes human beings happy - it's stuff like iPhones etc - it seems to be people, relationships, nature and meaning (whatever meaning we attach to a thing).

Even though they are on a really uncomfortable train, on a really long journey, it's one of the best experiences of their life. Tells you something about what makes human beings happy - it's stuff like iPhones etc - it seems to be people, relationships, nature and meaning (whatever meaning we attach to a thing).
