As a Christian, our communities have had their ups and downs with each other. There's a long complex history to unpack there. But this I know that your Bible makes up more than half of ours. Your prophets are our prophets. Your G-d is our G-d. With time our beliefs have become quite different, but we both affrim the Promise made to Abraham. It is through Abraham's faith that blessings have been brought to many people the world over. Those who bless Israel will be blessed, those who curse it will be cursed. My heart breaks for what is happening to His people and the Land He promised them. How can I be praying for you, your loved ones, and for Israel?
Shalom blessed Rabbi hi from a jew in New Zealand. My mum is a jew and was born in the United States and that Side of family were from Belarus , Russia , Ukraine , Latvia etc and I think most or many came to US in early 20th century (maybe 1900s) and My dad is a kiwi and is anglo Saxon (a lot of Scottish , some Irish , British ,welsh , Danish etc) I am not a jew in religion though. Thank you Rabbi For all you do. To bring joy to people is an incredibly good thing and shows who you are as a person and that of course comes from strong faith and judaism. Maybe one day I will meet you in Russia!!
@@ryantannar5301I pray for Israel, IDF, hostages every night at 7pm Houston times by reading Psalms ## 13, 20, 30, 79, 83, 91, 100, 121, 130, 142, 144.
My grandmother was just like him all the way up until her passing. She would constantly check on the people around her to make sure they had everything they need and she never let anyone do anything for themselves. She really lived to take care of others. I believe it's what kept her going. I think when you get older and have to rely more on others it's easy to feel as though you aren't needed or you don't have value. I think that's why so many elderly people insist on doing everything they can for others. It gives them a sense of purpose. I think that along with excitement is what was going on here. She would come into whatever room I was in every 10 minutes to ask if I was hungry or if I needed anything. She was such a lovely person. This man reminds me a lot of her.
Shloime, as a child of Soviet Jewish immigrants to the US, I can’t begin to explain how much joy you brought to him during your stay. Definitely a tear jerker. May Hersh’s memory be for a blessing and his neshama have an aliyah ❤️😢
My goodness, this was just beautiful! The joy you gave Hersh just by making him feel cared for and valued was so awesome. You could see it in his face, the way his eyes lit up when he spoke to you. It didn't matter that you both spoke different languages. Love is felt more than spoken and that's what i just watched - love. Absolutely beautiful. May the joy you gave Hersh find you tenfold. Bless you, Shloime. And RIP Hersh.
What a precious Grandfather ! It's wonderful that you men have appreciated him and given him a reason to live. Hearing your greeting to him brought tears to my eyes. May Yah bless you 🤍
Is it ok if I cried watching the video? It is so heart warming seeing such an old man holding this much history in his heart and memories.... what a wonderful video
This was amazing. What a special man he is. I must say Shloime that you were my introduction to the Jewish world through Peter's videos and i have been fascinated ever since. The things I have learned already have changed my view of myself and this world forever and I am not even Jewish. The best part is that there is still SO much more to learn. Baruch Hashem for choosing your people, he made the right choice. To all the Jewish people, Have a blessed Shabbat 🙌 ❤
The language barrier would be like if I am Hispanic and went to Mexico. I don't speak fluent in Spanish and I barely understand what's being said. I catch a few words. It's very frustrating. I feel for you Sholime 😮
It's always a blessed day when Shloime uploads a new video. This one had so many touching images. The scene in the shul where the boy was helping Hersh lay tefillin was expecially poignant to me. I couldn't stop crying when the video ended. Thank you, Shloime, for following through and spending the night with Hersh and for sharing with us.
Very touching video, to say the least. I am a Christian who loves your people and pray for them and the peace of Jerusalem. I remember you on this Tisha B'Av and am sorry for all the evil things that have befallen your people on this day. I appreciate your great spirit and all you do . You are a very good and inspiring man. Rabbi Danzinger is also a great man and very inspiring. Shalom.... Marvin English in San Diego County, California
What a gracious beautiful generous man. You were really blessed. And you allowed him to do a mitvah for you, right? Your videos are a wonderful gift to the universe. Thank you.
I speak Russian and understood everything. You did such a kind thing by keeping him company. It is sad that he is not with us anymore. BDE. I had an idea that you could use google translate on your phone with voice recognition. I tried it in Russian and it works pretty well.
Shloime, thank you for this. When elders are increasingly marginalized, you stepped up to show respect and bring joy. I held back tears until I watched the young man help Hersch put on tefillin (hope I got that right) what a blessing you are! May we all, whether Jewish or not, take this an example and spread the love and joy of God to all He brings our way.
Beautiful and will show the children today for school. I homeschool and like to show videos to teach history, science, and humanity ❤ they will watch this today, and thank you for helping me to find a shul in South Carolina 🎉
Update - the children learned a lot and enjoyed the video. Taking care of the elderly, allowing them to still feel needed, giving them a purpose, and to learn what we can from them. They volunteer a lot with the elderly, but I am grateful that he showed them how Abraham was a great host, as we should be when we have guests. I've told and showed them many times over the years, but them seeing an elderly disabled man make his bed, I believe, has truly demonstrated how we are to be there for our guests. Thank you ❤
BDE Hirsch RIP Shloimi - Hazak yBaruch for this video, one of the best on your channel so far! Chabad is an awesome movement since it was home away from home for myself when I attended law school In Michigan coming from NYC. Knowing Russian and watching this video is truly touching and seeing how amazingly caring and welcoming Hirsch was and his happiness was priceless. Shabbat Shalom!
Baruch Hashem! This video should have 5 Million hits! I ache for you to be my real cousin, as my Lerner relatives/survivors emigrated to Brooklyn, then felt that they had to hide their Jewish Identity in Long Island to Survive Society. Shloime, as always, you spread love and inspiration with every message in every video you share. This video was especially moving and left me with a warm feeling of gratitude to just be alive and for the bountiful blessings I have. Thank you, Shloime!

There are not too many Holocaust survivors left. I was fortunate in university back in the 1980s to do a course project where I interviewed survivors. There was a Jewish nursing home and a vibrant Jewish community in my neighborhood. I learned so much from these people who went through horrific years early in life who then spent the rest of their life doing great things. That's sweet that you did that. I think u def should have had a translator. You probably should have somehow asked him to teach you Russian; that probably would have helped a lot. He seemed happy to have u tho. I would have been stressed and would have been like "welp (yawn) sleepy! (Yawn) Lol. I just couldn't get thru the awkwardness if it were me. Good for u tho.

Wow. Mi keancha Yisroel. 👍🙏
Fascinating
Have a happy and healthy new year
