He saved all these children and wanted NO attention for himself. What a truly selfless and good man. Please don't let him sit up there by himself, though.
synth on a plinth and there are celebraties who "raise money for charity" but do it all for publicity. this man is responsible for thousands of people who families descending from those people
You are correct. It is sickening how celebrities exploit charitable events for their own glorification and publicity. Had Mr. Winton's wife not found his scrapbooks and brought his heroic deeds to the world's attention, he would have never said a word. Such humility and selflessness. Now, celebrities spill their guts in cheap bios just to make a buck and get some attention.
l wrote him a thank you letter in about 2005 and got a thank you note back! What an honor for me. What an incredible being. He taught me some valuable lessons and before Covid I managed to get six Venezuelans with dual nationality to Spain where they could live with plenty of food, medical care and in decency. Sir Nicholas, thank you for making me a better human being and affecting lives of six more people you could say. And let me say this, the only reason I talk about what I did is so that others might do the same, and it has worked!
This man did not crow about his accomplishment. He didn't even tell his wife. He just did the right thing, in a big way. I'm glad to finally hear about him. A hero of epic proportions who is humble about what he accomplished. He effected so many lives and nobody is more deserving of a Nobel Peace Prize.
imagine his wifes initial reaction when she opens the scrapbook and sees all the Nazi stamping everywhere. You would probably have had to look in depth to realize is was a list of life.

@@TheParrottStan He didn't tell anyone because he was burden with guilt of the train full of 250 children he could have saved but the Nazi got to the train first.
And for the last 50 years, he has worked with the handicapped and built homes for the elderly, altho he still lives at home himself. What a wonderful man.
Michelle Goodrow ...No problem Michelle, no need to apologise at all. There have been some documentaries & a film called Nicky’s Family made about him though, remarkable human being.
I do not understand how there are dislikes to this. This man is an inspiration to humanity, what a world we could be living in if there were more people like him!!!!
I'm not too macho to say I lose it every time I see the audience at the TV show stand up. Just think of the families those 669 people have gone on to create. Just think of the lives they've changed. Extraordinary.
talking in hypothetical numbers if every one of those children went on to marry someone, not in that group and have two children and those children had two children we're talking 4893 people alive because of this man,
RIP Sir Nicholas. You were a true superhero that fought and won against against pure evil. Born: May 19, 1909 (age 106), Hampstead, United Kingdom Died: July 1, 2015
The gentleman is one of the greatest people to live. I love that he was able to met so many of those that he saved. What a true hero and a great human.
I'm crying right now, this man should be well known and respected for everything he did, and has done for this country and many others across the world, he is a national treasure! and at 105 he's still going strong! Well done Nicholas! :'):'):'):'):')
Thank you for all your comments! Like all of you I was sad to hear about the death of Sir Nicholas earlier this week. But it was wonderful to see the increasing recognition Sir Winton got during the last years of his long life. And I also feel a bit humble and glad that this little video I put together (with clips from the 2011 documentary "Nick's Family") helped to get more people find out about this inspirational story and the remarkable man behind. R.I.P. Sir Nicholas Winton
+bluescorpio Thank you to share this video. This is not a competition but, by far, THIS is the most powerful and emotional video I ever seen in my near-40y of life. We should celebrate the life, cherish it and be careful and compassionate. Each life is a gift. And it makes me hard pain to see that thousands of people shows lack of respect about life, in Syria, Iraq, even in the US... Is this still naive or realistic to really hope to 'imagine' a world with full peace, where any life is protected? In any case, thank you to share this
I will answer this for myself. Because I would like to have him among us for as long as possible. I hope you noticed the effect he had on the kids, and the best part was he wasn't even trying to change them or motivate them. It was happening naturally. Wouldn't it be nice if he was around for many future generations and have the same effect on them as well? It almost makes you believe we could've been able to avoid Brexit and the Chitto Hitler in the US if he was discovered few decades sooner.
A moving and inspirational story about a truly amazing man, made all the more poignant by his quiet, humble persona. If there were more like him, the world would be a much better place.
It's so sad to know that most of their parents perished. :/ at least they had the opportunity to save their legacies, their children. Sir Winton is one of many heroes and I hope we won't need heroes like him someday. Such a beautiful life though. His mind is still healthy :)
I have only just seen this, how? I live in England and I never knew about this guy. It's people like him who should be put on coins and stamps so that more people know about him and the good work he did.
My grand-father was in the French Resistance and used his home to welcome shot down pilots . This was really risky and he never talked about what he did during the war . For him this was something he had to do ,and that's all. In 1985 a bus stopped near his house ,with 40 of those pilots in it (son of one of them did some researches ;) ) ,and I think that when he saw them , he really realised what he did . Was he an hero ? Was he just a man who did what seemed right for him ? For me ,answer is easy :)
I'm in America. I've always wondered why we must name our buildings and bridges after politicians when we can name them after heroes like Mr. Winton, or our fallen soldiers, mere boys and girls and young men and women.
ex59neo53 hi, just read your story and it moved me to tears. I have nothing but admiration for those people who risked everything during the war for what was right. My father fought in the navy and never spoke of it and I am only now finding out things he did through war records. Huge respect and love to your grandfather. It is through people like him that we live free today.
I was so happy to be part of the audience in Prague (with the phones) as a press. Unfortunately he has never gotten the Nobel's price even so many people tried but he is the hero we all should know about.
I never know he before , i just red his history from Facebook then searching documentary about him in TH-cam , now i knew him already , i would like to follow his goodness. this video made me cried.
Thank you so much for putting this up on TH-cam! I've only seen clips here and there before so it's awesome to see this footage. What an incredible man, he must be the most humble man on earth. A hero is someone who does something courageous, esp when it's dangerous, and doesnt seek attention or admiration for it. Sir Winton is a hero in every sense of the term. And I'm glad we know his name and his incredible story. It deserves to be told. The world looks like such a dark place, it's comforting to know there's still bright lights amongst the darkness.
This is such a beautiful and powerful story of loving self sacrifice with huge and ongoing positive repercussions. 664 saved Czech children now number over 15,000 progeny who all owe their lives to this one man's acts of compassion and ingenuity. He is an inspiration to us all. The footage of the children who meet their rescuer for the first time, and seeing Nicholas' emotional response, had tears streaming down my face. To whomever posted this video, thank you for making my day!
Hau Nguyen the problem comes when u start comparing people to other people The Kardashian’s s are their own people this man is his own person Special ,kind loving and generous in his own way
Can u just imagine how many people just like him lived in human history.. and where noticed. A true hero. He may not of wanted it.. but i do think there should be a day all about him. Soo the world will never forget
Amazing.:) I've never heard of him until this last week unfortunately. As I can tell he's an amazing man who has helped so many. This made me cry. Thanks for sharing this. Just amazing.
Wonderful wonderful wonderful story! What a man and what a legacy! Very hard to find this in the world today so it's so great that his wife discovered this and it got shared to all of us. It actually rejuvenates my zest for life and good will towards man. I'm sure when his day come to meet his maker he will go there with few regrets! Three cheers for Sir Nicholas Winton, Hip Hip Hooray!!
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful story of the remarkable Sir Nicholas Winton. What a wonderful soul. It's a great pity that our politicians seem unable to follow suit with their own people.

This is amazingly beautiful and heartwarming. God bless Sir Winton. He definitely had the biggest heart and family ever. Selfless Courage and love. I’m crying like a baby!
Not only saved those kids, but a whole generation of families, those kids became parents, grand parents great grand parents. How many lives were saved. Amazing , a true hero of life.
Every time I wonder who we can look up to I always come back to this video. We need more men like this one in our world today. Never stop wondering what the world would be like if we had more like him. And sadly most young people today will never know of Sir Nicholas Winton.
If his wife tried to give that story to people who "weren't interested," I hope a few heads rolled when the story finally broke. I used to be a reporter and I would have LOVED to get a story like that. There is NO way I'd have said, "Thanks but I'm not interested."
Overwhelming courage, grit, imagination and determination to do something which did not directly impact himself or his family. He was not facing a direct danger, yet he did this for people he had no connection with and never spoke about it. Neither did he plan for any rewards for himself nor did he collect any for his actions later on. He cannot be human. In a world full of hatred and selfishness, he is certainly a saint walking among the humans.
If anyone deserved to live to be 106, this is the man
He saved all these children and wanted NO attention for himself. What a truly selfless and good man. Please don't let him sit up there by himself, though.

RIP NICHOLAS WINTON WHO DIED TODAY (01/07/15). AGED 106. AN AMAZING MAN WITH A LOT OF COURAGE AND CONVICTION
leedscab123 This is a bit late but damn, God rewarded him for his deeds with those 106 years. May he Rest In Piece!

I guess he didn't tell anyone because he's modest and didn't tell his wife (because he could have done more) in his mind

This story should be made into a movie. What a wonderful, caring man!
There is a movie, "Nicky's Family" ... check on TH-cam.
Michelle Goodrow ....Different person entirely, but many call Nicholas “ Britain’s Schindler “.
Michelle Goodrow ...No problem Michelle, no need to apologise at all. There have been some documentaries & a film called Nicky’s Family made about him though, remarkable human being.
What makes this even more incredible is that no one knew about this heroic act but them. He did not have to boast to the world about his good deeds.
+dougodude101 Truely sad that 9/10 times anyone ever do anything these days its more a case of selfpromoting swag than goodnes of heart.
stefano: I agree: "Let me film myself helping someone!"
Can't get through any clip about Sir Nicholas without getting emotional. What an incredible, wonderful hero. So much respect from Texas, USA.
Thank-you for everything.
It is all because of you!😊😇😇

R.I.P. :((( I am sitting here watching this video and I am crying!!! thank you for everything you did!!!!
He is not only a Hero. He is a real Angel!!
Thats what a real hero looks like. A real SUPERHERO.

He who saves a life.......saves the world .
These words hold truth in us all.
Bless you you all x
The world needs more people like Nicholas Winston, his modesty just adds to his character... Such an incredible soul...
Beautiful and touching. I'm glad his scrapbook was found and he was able to be honored the way he deserved. What a wonderful and amazing man.

In small interview in 2014 it was said the number was close to 15000 offspring. Dont know how accurate that is.

Who is cutting onions?😭😭
Such an immense respect for Sir Nicholas... Love & light from sunny Florianópolis, Brazil.

What an inspiration. I hope they make a movie about this.
Very proud to call Sir Nicholas Winton my fellow human being !!
I am glad that he was able to live long enough to see how his actions made a difference to those who he saved and their children.
Im a student in 5th grade and this guy is the most amazing thing ever im very sad that he died but he died doing a great thing
He is a Hero and deserves so much respect. This inspirational story touched my soul and changed my life.
This needs to be made into a movie like the imitation game! This is so beautiful and touching, a story of epic proportions.
Amazing story. What a HERO. Living until 106 is amazing in itself. Seemed like a really nice man.
So many owe their lives to him...That is why he still lives today for God gave him more years as a gift for his kindness to humanity.
imagine how different the world would be if everyone cared like nicholas winton
This is amazingly beautiful and heartwarming. God bless Sir Winton. He definitely had the biggest heart and family ever. Selfless Courage and love. I’m crying like a baby!
thank you sir Winton
i can't stop crying, I am so proud of this man Nicholas WInton.
May Sir Nicholas Winton be doing well where ever he is now

Making a movie would be a fitting tribute to the legendary Sir Winton!
Complete great man. We need more people with his love at the moment. This man will never be forgotten. X
Really nice to see this lovely man get the appreciation he deserves
Wow... Just wow... He still feels all the fuss as "an added bonus." What a wonderful person!
This is by far the most moving story I have ever seen!
i cried like a baby

I came across this video by chance, indeed Sir Nicholas is a noble soul!! Feel great I now know this humble person!!
The greatest acts of heroism and compassion are those not trumpeted to the world.
I think I got some dust in my eye... What an amazing life.
Rest in Peace Great Man!
