Electric power steering is very intriguing. I know there are a few different systems people are using. Interested to see more progress on it 👍

Great video! I’m installing the same unit in my dirt track car and I’m curious if there is a way to wire in a potentiometer to adjust the amount of assist.

Thanks! I haven't found anything to adjust the force just yet. I don't know if dropping voltage to the main motor will reduce load or just cause it to not work. I'd explore the plug pin outs and see if there's anything there to start with that's not CAN related.

Will this mid engine project continue at some point?

Yep, I'm working on some fabrication for part of it now and then we will dive into a whole bunch of cad. I'm not happy it's taken this long but I'm very excited to get back to it!

hi, I am going to swap this eps on my drift project, but I was said that prius eps can't return the steering wheel as it doesn't have steering angle sensor. Can you give me some advice about this? Is that true that swapped prius eps doesn't return steering wheel even in normal driving conditions and I would like to know how it could be fixed? thanks :)

The forces that return the steering wheel to the center are from the caster angle of the suspension. I'll cover my suspension geometry in more detail later on so in the meantime I would look up some caster vs camber vs toe articles. As long as your car has sufficient caster angle it will work the wheels back to a straight position. This is also a part of where steering resistance comes from which manufacturers balance with their power steering systems. So the feel might not be right without more work getting geometry to match your power steering. Hopefully this helps a bit!

@@DirtyElbowsGarage yes, good info thanks. I will swap eps and than play with adjustments :)
