Wow 😮 Diesel Duecy, you've really superceded my expectations in this lol! It's ligit all old school & such a unicorn 🦄 how rare are these classic elevators nowadays? I really want to be able to ride one of those classic Otis elevators! Thanks for the share; I could have never had a chance too see this if it weren't for you Diesel!
I love that elevator first off absolutely NO stupid computer to scare you (I was in a elevator and the computer stopped and the thing flew down to the ground) second it looks VERY cool and there u really like how it suddenly stops at the level.
The average 19 year old in the 1920's weighed 156, so that's around 11 people. If it was a hospital when the building was built, it would be a couple people and a bed or something, it's a freight elevator.
We have one just like this at my university in the archives. I was lucky enough to ride it in 2019. I came back after lockdown and the whole thing is shut down now :/ still there though
They shouldve covered the holes where the counterweight goes by because someone could put their finger in there and have it chopped off between the counterweight and the elevator cab
There is a Nightclub in Oakland, Ca called Geoffrey's Inner Circle. The elevator access (mostly reserved for service) is an old Otis (with manual Slab doors) that has similar control panels. I checked it out because it was old and I was wondering if it would fit a Hammond organ (if I ever play this room). The leveling is terrible. on the Club floor it was about Four inched high and on the Ground it was about Four inches low.
+Craig Browning If you go to that nightclub, are you allowed to ride the elevator, or is it for employees only? Does it have a scissor gate inside door, like this elevator? Also, when did you last see the elevator?
Elevator Filmer Dominic Arnone I think DieselDucy said that they do want to keep this elevator original (I think Otis has tried to convince them to modernize it), but don't plan to repair it if it breaks.
upanddownadventures I emailed the branch manager of my local ThyssenKrupp office to see if he can find out if there are any ThyssenKrupp ISIS elevators in Kansas city
I'd love to get an old call button plate or up down buttons plates for my homemade elevator, but I just checked ebay and holy cow, they're not cheap. Any ideas where one could find stuff like that?
No disrespect DieselDucy; however, I give people sweeping vistas of the most epic city in the USA, possibly the entire world as well as beautiful sunset vistas on the beach. Meanwhile you give people tours of Otis elevators and get nearly a million views for it? Wtf!!! I just don’t get it... 😤😤😤
I still don't know how only a few of Ducy's videos get a million views
Wish more got views
This is a gorgeous antique Otis elevator!

This is a nice vintage Otis
At 0:17, this is very nice when your OTIS callstation is near to same callstation for call lift.
such a beauty - DO WANT to film it too! I hope it still exists...
it still does

yes. these are becoming a rarity.
I like Otis 1920 elevators I also like your Otis button
Judging by the fact that this elevator is automatic, I would have to make a good guess that this was installed in 1924 or later

I've used it to exit.
Good game to pass my way
I’m worried I won’t be able to see a lift like that 😢 I’m in Australia.

Never saw a gated elevator before.

yep :)
And see if this elevator is still there
It is
Is that elevator still there it would be 90+ years old if it is
Yep, still there
I hope this doesn't get modernized because of the problem with the "1" button.
Sadly, if this elevator breaks, they have no plans to fix it.
